You signing the contract, agreeing to the standard rate. The discount comes after the fact and is not contingent upon the contact. Meaning, that it can change at any time, T-Mobile in this case terminating the agreement they have with your employer.

Which T-Mobile has every right to do, just like your Employer can terminate the agreement with T-Mobile to offer their employees a discount. This happens a lot actually. You sign the contract first, discount is applied after the fact.

Untrue, I as many others stated had to sign a contract specifically to get the discount. In order to get the discount I had to agree to a 2 year agreement. For a much better network, I say take the plunge and go to Verizon.

I just noticed that also what tmobile going to say about that or just try and ignore that plan. Perhaps the big push in Tmobile was a setup for the Sprint take over. Now they might have run the company longterm.

If what has been reported is true this is a really short notice for such a dramatic change to be implemented on April T-Mobile LTE works great when it’s not congested but there were a couple of times at airports the download speed was horrible even when my phone was showing 4G LTE.

Their coverage is also not very consistent I had 0 data coverage at Orlando Convention Center…it was voice only via roaming at all times… Even worse, for people who are still on a 24 month contract, such price increase is really unfair.

I have been receiving discount on our 4 lines for many years now. I am not happy, but I understand why T-mobile is doing it. They have added so much value to my plan over the years including unlimited data while overseas and from this month unlimited international SMS.

Giving back the discount if this keep T-mobile healthy and better able to grow and acquire more spectrum, I am all for it. They separated out data and voice and did not give discount on the data part.

There were differences depending on which company you had your discount through. Call the loyalty department and request a credit in the amount of your monthly discount multiplied by the number of months left on your EIP.

This strategy will only preserve your savings for a set period. Per the agent I just spoke to, the account holder does not have to be the employee. The rep you talked to is incorrect. The account owner is the only person that can get the discount.

Well as far as a Nexus devices goes, google losses money on every sale bc they sell it at cost if not close to it. Nexus is still a bargain, but if you can afford to, be kind enough to have google take the hit by buying it from them.

Otherwise, buy it in installments from T-Mobile. Obviously you should get or keep whatever service works best for you. I more frequently face bad or weak 4G service and in some case not even 3G service.

Why would you get a phone from T-mo? Enjoy being lowest priority traffic all the time. When your call to the hospital to check on a dying family member drops? Family mobile customers are lower priority than t-mobile but certainly not the lowest.

T-Mobile is the least congested network so capacity issues are rarely an issue anyway. Those last two or three months I experienced a much higher dropped call ratio in my area and data was sometimes interrupted.

Verizon splits the phone payment into monthly installments which I have no problem with TMO actually started that. Who are you kidding? I had Verizon for 4 years before I went to Tmobile in No issues with their services but wanted to save on my bill considering they charged for roaming at the time.

I would need more than 2gb… I will have to consider Sprint, and while their network is a mess, if I stay with them I could end up reaping the benefits in the long run. After all, they were bought out by Softbank, so I doubt they will just sit on a pile of crap for all the money that was spent.

Your only options are pretty much sprint and TMO because you need unlimited. I actually think sprint will pick themselves up in a year or two and surprise all of us, especially if the FCC limits the amount of Mhz spectrum the duopoly can buy.

Coverage will be greatly improved, if they keep their promises I hope they do. They also promised to have all Edge 2G areas upgraded to LTE by the end of next year so that makes me have faith that coverage will improve.

Well hey if you have the money to buy your own phone out right, go for it. And if you only need two lines. You forgot to put overage fees. The plans are unlimited talk and text with a lump of shared data for a single fee.

Because of the step change in line charges depending on the shared data amount, it can make a big difference when comparing prices vs T-Mobile. T-Mobile tends to look better with smaller data amounts.

Usually only the minutes. You will not receive a discount on the data the majority of your bill. Before you start quoting discounts, I would try to get the facts straight, then compare Apples to Apples.

People on the 1GB and 3GB plans are paying the same amout that they always have. Only new customers getting the unlimited plan, old customers upgrading to the unlimited plan, and people affected by this removal of the discount.

They removed the corporate discounts to subsidize other features, such as paying off ETFs for new customers and the added international features. Unfortunately, due to regulatory issues and a lack of public support, the shock and awe approach has not yielded a buyer for Tmobile.

Now Legere has an unexpected long ground war before him, one that he cannot win unless he takes back in one way or other the very things that made his stupidly titled Uncarrier strategy work.

Truth is, the inertia of the American wireless industry has won, and the Uncarrier strategy will soon show itself to be the flimflammery it always has been. The timing could have been better. They should have eliminated corporate discounts when they rolled out uncarrier 1. Made clear pricing part of the plan. Maybe uncarrier 5 or whatever will be along those lines.

If the top two all of a sudden decide to bring back unlimited then T Mobile will be on its knees for sure. However, lets be honest, I have unlimited and no matter how hard I try and max out data on or around 3 gig per month.

Discontinuing a service for new customers is one thing. Taking it completely away from corporations who were offered this in return for their MSA acceptance is another. Business that have service under the business name have never been eligible for the advantage discount, they get a built in discounts on the line cost once they go over 6 lines so that will still be in place…..

Instead of spending so much money on ETF payments maybe you could consider taking care of the customers you have! This is a really bad move. So, the device is a positive exchange.

We have a good secondary market. We have a lot of ways to use it. And then, if you look at our industry, the biggest money spent is in acquisition cost to get a customer, and the huge amount of money that people spend in advertising and other mechanisms to incent you to come.

I agree, apparently uncarrier promotions alone are not enough, therefore i think they are testing customer loyalty by doing away with these discounts, consequently raising some bills.

Read the small print on those inserts included with your bill, it will spell out that you have 30 days may vary on where you live to cancel your contract with no charge simply because they changed the contract.

You signing the contract, agreeing to the standard rate. The discount comes after the fact and is not contingent upon the contact. Meaning, that it can change at any time, T-Mobile in this case terminating the agreement they have with your employer.

Which T-Mobile has every right to do, just like your Employer can terminate the agreement with T-Mobile to offer their employees a discount. This happens a lot actually. You sign the contract first, discount is applied after the fact.

Untrue, I as many others stated had to sign a contract specifically to get the discount. In order to get the discount I had to agree to a 2 year agreement. For a much better network, I say take the plunge and go to Verizon.

If what has been reported is true this is a really short notice for such a dramatic change to be implemented on April T-Mobile LTE works great when it’s not congested but there were a couple of times at airports the download speed was horrible even when my phone was showing 4G LTE.

Their coverage is also not very consistent I had 0 data coverage at Orlando Convention Center…it was voice only via roaming at all times… Even worse, for people who are still on a 24 month contract, such price increase is really unfair.

I have been receiving discount on our 4 lines for many years now. I am not happy, but I understand why T-mobile is doing it. They have added so much value to my plan over the years including unlimited data while overseas and from this month unlimited international SMS.

Giving back the discount if this keep T-mobile healthy and better able to grow and acquire more spectrum, I am all for it. They separated out data and voice and did not give discount on the data part.

T-mobile is still the best deal in town. Why does everyone have to swallow the all you can eat model? The discount has been reduced a lot since they switched to the mobile share plans following T-Mobile to price based on data only.

Either way, if you need more than 2GB of Data as well as unlimited calls and text and need that to be on the Telstra network, your absolute best bet is Boost provided you are happy with 3G speeds only.

I am in a black spot myself so never get great coverage but the last 2 weeks with amaysim have been terrible. I tether and have struggled to even make phone calls let alone get on line.

It is debatable whether or not this truly is the best value given the way data is calculated per MB. I moved from amaysim to Jeenee Mobile simply because of their per KB data calculation.

The only place they sting you is excessive data — no additional data can be purchased and it is expensive if you go over. Jeenee donate cash to charities working with people with disabilities and provide handsets to them as well.

Were you able to get more value from Jeenee because they calculate data usage by the KB? With regards to Jeenee Mobile, we have looked at them in the past and while their donations to charity are commendable, I can not in good conscious recommend a service which charges steeply for excess data as this might leave people with significant extra costs, especially given it is usually very hard if not outright impossible to monitor real-time data usage with these providers from the view of their billing system, not your own tracking.

Finally, Amaysim have formally announced they will start offering 4G services on the Optus network by the end of March with the new pricing to yet be determined http: I found Jeenee and thought it was worth a go.

For me, I chose that more on principle than practicality. I was with Amaysim when they were 4GB. I went over a few times but I just purchased data packs. I must admit that I much prefer having the option to add data.

This was caused by vigorous hot-spotting while we were away so technically not a typical single user month. Since it runs on Optus no one gets any service, why would anyone want to be on it. Optus have dropped the ball since they tried to up date their towers to the 4G network.

I am with Amaysim myself and live on the Gold Coast. I get great coverage for both voice and data pretty much anywhere on the coast except maybe some parts of the hinterland or national parks.

Disagreed on both points. I can assure you the vast majority of people don’t give a hoot about side loading except the enthusiastic tech commenters on the internet who actively seek out APKs.

Open and free don’t really mean much when you have a proper market — just ask Nokia users how much they love side loading apps over having a good market. Also the Galaxy S is still the top dog in terms of hardware specs.

It’s a way for Google to provide makers a cheap alternative to the iPhone platform and monetize the subsequent subscriber base with Google’s ads. Most phone buyers have absolutely no clue regarding things like compiling their own source code nor do they care about even something simple as installing 3rd party software not from the market.

The freedom of open source is great for people with time and inclination to get their hands dirty, but for the mobile market it’s completely meaningless other than the fact phone makers and carriers flocked to Android as an iPhone alternative because it’s mostly free and much cheaper and better than what they can create on their own.

I love the intense competition between google, apple, facebook and microsoft which is trying so hard to reinvent itself, this is when things get better for consumers as all these platform companies battle so hard to retain customers.

That’s a very interesting notion, but I don’t see how it could work. I don’t see anything on the iPhone where apple could cut costs without killing the product. Predicting the future is hard work, but I think many years from now there will be two iPhone models, one that’s really cheap, and another that’s a little bit more expensive.

I think if apple sells a cheap iPhone this year, it will be more like the iPod Shuffle than the iPod nano. Cheaper because it doesn’t do anywhere near as much stuff. While Android phones are not significantly cheaper than the iPhone, more Verizon postpaid customers will choose iOS.

For most people a smartphone is only a better phone and should just work. Apple offers better customer service for the phone, a better way for customers to get iOS updates and more apps sooner.
