Thanks Passbest the help. Some of the video in the compressor output file is Icloud pixilated and the pixels jerk. Any audio help would be most Passbest. I Icloud much agree with your earlier post, although I have a shorter and shallower perspective on these new digital paradigms than you. I use Live Type a fair bit, but have only recently wanted to use Soundtrack. It seems to be solved after using a USB keyboard and mouse for editing. I then upgraded to Compressor 4.

Anyone out there who can help please. Go to keychains and see how many of the same or duplicates are there remove the one or ones that aren’t set correctly. I opened the file in Compressor only to be totally stumped as to what to do next. Tonight is the first time since then when I have attempted to run Soundtrack Pro on either computer. Is there a way to install Soundtrack Pro 3 as a standalone application in another part of my computer, like under a different user or in some way where I can open it independently from the Final Cut Studio 2 program?

Is there any way for me to force the installer to install the version of Compressor on the Final Cut Pro 5 disk? OK, it took some fiddling, but I got Compressor to install correctly. First I tried the instructions Apple has here: I did a reinstall of FCP5 from the disk for good measure after that, and then a software update.

It still says “Skip” for Compressor vs. Everything seems to be working fine now though. This seems like a serious problem in Apple’s Final Cut Pro 5 installation package at least for the academic version and whatever sequence of steps got us into this state.

I’ve done it several other times, using the Compressor presets regarding. I haven’t changed anything The problem seems to be restricted only to all the. If I use Final Cut Pro 6.

Soundtrack Pro and Compressor did not install. Are these programs not compatible with FC Express? I cant start them as stand alone applications. Hi folks, I’m new to Final cut studio 3 and I need help with my settings.

I’m using a Canon hf10 video camera on cinema mode 25fps. Hopefully using Compressor and DVD pro. In Final Cut Pro 6. When I send the sequence to Compressor to export a file for Vimeo x, the video comes out fine, but the titles in the video are squished horizontally.

I’ve messed around with different pixel aspect ratios and frame sizes in both FCP Compressor. I’ve even changed the aspect ratios of my titles in FCP. The only way I can currently make it work is to export the sequence as a self-contained QT movie and then send that to Compressor.

Though it’s nice to be able to export directly to Compressor, I’ve gone back to my old method, which works fine: I then send this file to Compressor and run my “VimeoHD” preset and everything comes out fine.

The extra step is worth the reliability and troubleshooting factor. You also don’t have to have both FCP Compressor open at the same time talking to each other, which means you have more resources devoted to your compression.

B Create an SD timeline, drag the final cut into it, render it and then export using Compressor? Yeah cheers I was able to export the movie and it seems fine I have created a movie with final cut studio 7 ,output quick time.

Also, I downloaded the new version of Compressor 4. If I put the movie in Quick Time to Compressor, the system runs forever and I can not get anything better in the end. At the end, I used Toast and then I get a result.

Except that I connected a LG blueray burner on my macbook pro 17 ‘ and I do not see it on the desktop. It is grayed out in the left column of the Finder. But I can not read the burned discs on the MacBook.

The HD is complicated! I may it was better to go to Final Cut X? Yes, I can burn the bluray disk with Toast and the disc is readable without problem on a settop player, I can not play the disc on my Mac.

LG is certainly not compatible with Mac, although they say otherwise on their site. They have not answered my question. But the ‘submit’ button hasn’t come on, and I can’t go ahead with the operation.

Can anyone tell me the basic things that would prevent me going ahead with the conversion here – no matter how obvious? I’m a new user, and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong Secondly, why do I need to use compressor for this – what’s the advantage of using Compressor rather than using the QTconversion panel export from Final Cut Pro?

Thanks for your help. Alas the problem is not space in the destination or write-protect. Any other ideas out there? Last week my computer dropped dead. I put back all my programs and everything seemed to be back to normal till I opened a certain Final Cut File.

I have Final Cut Pro 6. Most of the compressed files are Pro Res But, with this particular file it’s Pro Ress LT. Final Cut is telling me that this LT codec can not be opened and I might not have that codec.

I tried to recompress these files and Compressor says it does not have that codec. What do I have to do to get this codec to work? It worked before my computer died.

So, it should work again. I put the programs back straight from the discs. I fixed the problem by updating Quick Time Player. Why this worked, I have no idea.

I kind of figured it was an upgrade. I know I never bought it. I think I also read that 7 can’t be used with a PowerPC. Thanks everyone for the help. Apple today released Pro Application Update which addresses several issues with underlying frameworks and shared components for Apples professional applications and is strongly recommended for all users of:.

Yes, I was joking about the favorite child meatphor and let’s not get into the one about Logic being Apple’s neglected “red-headed stepson. FCPX is the only one of the three you can download a free trial for.

Motion and Compressor do not come with the FCPX trial and are not available for free trials themselves either. I am trying to install final cut pro but final cut and compressor are greyd out and not ticked, does anyone whats the problem.

I have now made the jump to Final Cut Pro X. And even if it is compatible, would it be better to use the ‘transcode’ option that Final Cut Pro X presents to us natively upon importing the movie files.

Or would it be better to edit directly the h. Are there any advantages or disadvantages say to native editing in terms of speed and quality of the final rendered file. I have had recent problems with Final Cut Studio.

FCP 7 will run and save fine but all the other applications in the studio will “quit unexpectedly” upon trying to save the project or if I try to set the export destination in Compressor.

I uninstalled FCP Studio and just finished reinstalling. I’m still having the same problem. Also, how did you uninstall the suite? It will get the apps AND all the support fileshttp: I’m using FCP 7, and would like to use Compressor 4.

Has anyone come across any conflict with Compressor 4 as a stand-along app? Compressor 4 has fixed some problems in Frame Control. I have FCP 7 and used Compressor 4 over 3.

DVD studio doesn’t work either You need to understand that if you were running a G5 – a PowerPC chip computer – and migrate to an Intel chipped computer, the binary code to run the program on the new computer will not be present.

Your G5’s FCS installation doesn’t have any intel code on it. FCS requires intel specific code on intel machines. Also, you will need FCP v5. Heck, even migrating pro apps between machines on the same processor can be problematic due to the specificity of the chips and how FCS stashes system files.

Sometimes they are not copied over or the frameworks are the wrong one for the processor or version of OSX. Best practice is to always do a fresh installation from the disks or disk images then use software updater to bring it up to the current update.

I don’t have an external blu ray burner. Can anyone shed some insight, know a good tutorial, etc. Anyone know of a good external burner I should invest in? No projects are open, no rendering going on but my computer is doing something – processors spiking away.

I can just about force quit but this make no difference to the computer, processors still spiking. I have to re-start to be able to use the computer again.

Ive trashed the prefs and set the preferences in compressor to “never copy source to cluster”. There, over gb on space on the hard drive. Just bought Compressor 4 and having a problem sending a sequence to it from Final Cut 7, and the old version of Compressor is gone.

Any ideas what to do? This solution works perfectly. Click File –Click Save — create s name of you choice Save in the location you want Now close the old version of compressorNext find the. Hi all, had this issue which is time consuming.

I hava a few short clips that I need to export for DVD. Final Cut Pro has hanged when I try to export more than 1 file. It is only when I quit Compressor, then Final Cut Pro returns back to normal without having the restart it at all, as if nothing happened.

I could still submit the file for compressing via Compressor and it’ll turn out fine but it can only do one at a time otherwise Final Cut Pro will hang and thus not being able to send the next file to Compressor.

This is obviously not time efficient as Compressor can compress multiple files at the same time. I just put “in” and “out” on each of the timeline sequences, go to ExportUsing Compressor.

Compressor starts up and that sequence is in Compressor. I then drag and drop a compression, in my case, DVD high quality 90 mins. Then I return back to FCP to do the same with the other sequence.

Are you guys saying that it can’t be done in FCP 6? That’s not possible because I have actually done it before on another system of FCP 6 and it works Doing the other methods all of you suggested works great as well but I want to be able to do the compression and export it from FCP directly to Compressor.

I was just wondering why does FCP hang when I do that. I’m using Final Cut Studio 7. First i couldn’t get clusters to work at all. So i uninstalled and reinstalled FCS7 and the Clusters seem to – set up – just fine.

I’ve thought about upgrading, but the reviews for fcpX and Compressor 4 have not been great. HalloI am new to final cut, and have one question. Is the compressor worth the extra cost, or is the included export possibilities inside FCP X good enough.

I had Final Cut Studio 5. I then upgraded to Compressor 4. Now when I try to export using compressor I get an error message saying, “Compressor not properly installed”. Is there any way to fix this?

I know I can export to QT and then bring the QT file into Compressor as a workaround, but my question is if there is some setting somewhere that will allow me to export to the new version of Compressor directly.

I appreciate the quick response. Now I won’t waste any more time trying to find a solution that doesn’t exist. I’ve opened it separately and it works fine.

I’ve tried reinstalling Compressor, and trashing Final Cut’s preferences, and still no luck. If I understand correctly, the process is as follows: HD content misses the FCS, where the proxy files are created.

Editor rabotate not with the source file, but with the proxy files. Once the project is built, it’s going to the source files. The question is how to set up such a job Final Cut Server? Hi, We’re having a problem with creating droplets from Compressor on one of our iMacs at work.

We’re using Compressor v3. When we create a droplet from compressor and save to the desktop, the icon appears greyed out with a cross through. Can anyone suggest an answer as to why this might be happening?

Thanks for your help in advance. I have no idea. Did you try repairing permisssions, etc as I suggested in an earlier post? Have you tried saving the droplet to a different local drive?

Can anyone please offer some advice? For some reason, I cannot choose the compressor option. Can I download compressor from somewhere, or purchase it somewhere? Compressor is great to use for audio.

It is highly recommended to make your audio into. However, I don’t recommend using Compressor to make your video into mpeg-2 unless it started out as uncompressed. Anything of lesser quality that runs through compressor looks OK when it comes out, but once it gets burned to your DVD, look out.

It is too low of quality for any project that is remotely important. I easily fit videos and the highest bit rate on my DVDs using this method. Also keep in mind that the disc space meter is not entirely accurate.

If you’re coming over from Final Cut Pro 7 and Compressor, you’ll be happy to know that Adobe Media Encoder is much easier to use than Compressor, encodes faster, and produces much higher quality output.

After finally thinking Final Cut X was ready, I upgraded only to discover a number of issues. Sony’s Memory Recording Unit, which I’ve used to record. This is not the case with Final Cut X.

Any help would be appreciated. That’s not what you want to do for muxed audio. Set the audio out to the correct output. The audio compression is displayed right in the inspector.

That’s compressed muxed DV audio. Oh BTW it doesn’t work in FCP7 either without rendering the audio, and anyone who has used that application for any length of time will tell you you need to convert the media properly to work in that application as well.

You don’t want to use FCPX, don’t. It’s not really a matter of the compression taking a long period of time. I am concerned that if I have multiple files will the sum of the sizes be larger than a single combined file.

I’ve resigned myself to compressing overnight since I’ve got a G5 iMac. I can’t seem to update to 7. When I run the ProKit 7 update, it says there’s already a newer version.

I tried putting Final Cut Studio back into the top level of the Applications folder, while moving all of the Final Cut Pro X with Motion 5 and Compressor 4 applications to temporary folder.

Then ran the update again with the same results. Do I have to do a full reinstall of Final Cut Studio to get the update? I figured it would require a full reinstall. I got the iMac about 4 months ago.

The problem is I never ran all of the updates for Final Cut Studio at that time. I better get started. I’ve encoded my 20 minute video using the DVD Best Quality 90 minute settings and the quality just isn’t there.

What am I doing wrong? Now, we have no options but to use Compressor and my clients are not happy. I don’t know if it is possible to attach a file to a message so I’ll copy the text version of the Compressor XML setting in this message.

I could send you a version by email if you provide your email address. You can find my email address on our homepage in the Public Profile. Does compressor 2 come with a Final Cut 5 upgrade? After I upgraded from 4.

I’ve come to discover that it’s necessary from time to time to completely flush my system drive and start from scratch. After I re-formatted and reinstalled everything, compressor began to work again — also solved several other problems i was having.

I have an hd movie on final cut pro x; i want to create an sd disk of that movie. How do I get these files burned to disc to create my sd movie? In Compressor 4, you can also make a job action for burning a DVD instead using the batch template.

Click on the job not one of the settings, and in the inspector menu, go to the Job Action tab. You’ll see an option for burn DVD. I recommend making a disc image on you hard drive first to check the quality without wasting a dvd.

Now I am wishing to do the same thing with HD footage. Am I correct in understanding I must first export to Compressor 4? I have been attempting to do that, but I am getting gummed up.

Basically I need help on the steps to follow, either within Final Cut Pro or within Compressor or both. The details on the project are as follows: You’ve told me what I need to know.

BTW 24P is true 24p. As to the codes you asked about, they refer to the ratio of memory used to time. This ratio translates to relative picture quality. In other words, what you give up in recording time, you make up in picture quality.

MXP mode is recommended for footage intended for use with an external Blu-ray Disc recorder. Confused, should I re-install the application? Note to others, you must change the privileges on Private Frameworks from System to your user account name.

Be sure to change it back after you try to move a new folder into it. Although it’s quite unlikely, I suppose you could have a 23 plus hour gap clip on your timeline storyline.

So click to the right of your 5 minute movie to select and hit the delete key. I used compressor without a problem until I reinitialized my hard drive. I first cloned the drive to a secondary drive, then after initializing, I cloned it back to the original drive.

Now I can’t open compressor at all. I reinstalled it, but it will not open. If I double click the compressor icon, the hard drive clicks in for a few seconds, then nothing happens. Other programs in the final cut studio group open just fine.

Final Cut Studio 5. Hi, Guys and Girls: After reading a lot about the new Final Cut X I decided not to buy it. Im not gonna say anything about it, pretty much everything has been said so theres no point in being redundant about it.

So my question is this: I heard the new version of Motion is nice, not so sure about the new Compressor but any improvement would be nice. I have been using iMovie for years, with different versions without problem.

Once I tried to install Final Cut Pro One day, I don’t remember why, I deleted two files in the Quicktime library. I think I had seen some advice on the web to do so, but I made a big mistake Since then, iMovie cannot export any movie as a file.

I got this message: I cannot export from iMovie. I also tried to restore the Quicktime Library from Time Machine but iOS refuses as “this file cannot be deleted or changed”.

And again, I have uninstalled Final Cut Pro and Compressor, so why this message keep telling me about “compressor”? Can anyone help me with this? If I set an in point on a time-line in Final Cut pro and send it to Compressor, only the video uses the in point.

The audio starts from the beginning of the time-line. This is a huge annoyance and something I used all the time on my G5. Alright, I have been struggling with this issue now for a few days.

I’ve looked all over the postings and I can’t find a thing about it. I have compressor set up on a MacPro Specs set up are below. When I compress it on the Qmaster cluster with all computers. I’m not able to view it on the IPhone 3G S.

Is it something that I’m doing in my process or just when Qmaster is compressing the file it has issues. PowerMac – Services Only Processor: Not installed Compressor Vertion: As in the other post, try using the preset for iPod.

You should make sure they are running the same version, as well as the same version of QT. Now Compressor won’t open. Final Cut opens and operates, but not Compressor.

What can I do? I’ve a great problem with compressor 2. When I try to export a movie from final cut to compressor, all the two application crash. All is regular when I export the movie with Quick time.

This happens to me for the first time I used Final cut. The second problem is that when I try to reinstall compressor from the original CD, compressor is gray and not black.

I’ve used yet every possibilities also with Disk warrior applcation without succes Please help me. I’m exporting a sequence to Compressor. When Compressor opens it first tells me “Can’t preview movie.

Final Cut Pro is busy” in the Preview window. Then, when I choose my settings and submit, nothing happens. You can also uncheck the self-contained box to make a reference movie. I do that sometimes, and it is a bit quicker overall, but the result is the same.

Let’s see if someone can help, since the last update to 6. When submitting final cut created the tab with the long number but as soon compressor is fully loaded the tab in final cut disappeared and when hit submit in compressor compressor just sits and nothing happens.

I have tried to export as quick time first and put that in compressor and that works and sometimes does not work any idea. Thank you in advance SG. The poster does not provide relevant information, does not respect the published protocols of the forum.

The forum regulars are well versed people who often earn their living with the software and may be incredulous at people wandering into it so cluelessly. It’s one thing when Auntie Matilda asks ‘why do I need to render?

Have they held your hand? Are they paid by Apple to do so? Do they even have to help you? Could they have responded another way? Do you need a thicker skin? I install Soundtrack Pro. Compressor 2 is very slow with natress Gconverter.

Compressor 2 also have an advanced format conversion. But it doesn’t work properly and I don’t have time for some experiment because it take a lots of time. Now I want to uninstall Compressor 2 and install V.

So please tell me, how I uninstall Compressor 2. On second thought, you probably don’t want to do step 1 reinstall QuickTime 6 until after you have done steps 2 and 3.

Then you could see if things still work to your satisfaction and if they don’t then I’d try to reinstall QuickTime 6 which will remove QuickTime 7 and that might affect Soundtrack Pro.

Oh, it would be nice if you acknowledged that you had read my suggestions and even better if you reported back with your results did it work or not or did you even try. The name of the installed application is Final Cut Pro.

Your operttaional procedure, to rename the application, caused the problem. We use high end HD cameras, etc. We know how to compress for iPod and Apple TV, and various web sizes.

I’ve read it plays up to 2. I looked in the Compressor templates, but don’t see one for iPad. Anyone know what settings we should be using? Or what’s the highest data rate an iPad will play?

Hi, I am very interested in your findings. I just can’t figure out where to make all those settings. I’m in compressor, add the video and select the settings inspector. It would be really appreciated if you could provide a few more details on how to change the settings.

Doesn’t have to be supper detailed, just some more hints. David, just link to the iPad specs page. It’s all posted there, and much easier to reference than a post is.

I use Log and transfer to capture my movies into Final Cut and then Send to Compressor to create the final movie. Export to QuickTime Movie, as reference movie or self-contained if you want to keep a master.

Take that to Compressor and use that application for encoding. The Send to Compressor produces no noticeable improvement in quality. In v7, yes, it is a background function, however, both applications will suffer an enormous penalty.

If it doesn’t work go back into the Security pane Firewall and remove the program then go to Get Info and login and reset the permissions by clicking them even if they are set right redo them make sure the settings are what you want.

Also if the program is in the “Share” section remove it from Share. If your still stuck. Go to keychains and see how many of the same or duplicates are there remove the one or ones that aren’t set correctly.

Then run the repair with the same acount. Something here should solve your problem. Hope something in here will get you out of the mess. I want to create movie files using Motion and Soundtrack Pro that have surround sound.

I can make ac3 surround sound files in SOundtrack Pro, I can add them to projects in Final Cut Pro, but I can’t see any way to use Compressor to output the movie files with surround sound.

The encoding results in plain stereo files. This worked perfectly on my AppleTV, connected to a Yamaha consumer-grade 5. Where have they gone and do I now have to spend hours adding and confirming Faces again?!

How can I restore that? How do I get the logic studio install to see that I have 2 video cards, so that it will allow me to install compressor? My logic studio installer won’t let me install Soundtrack Pro or compressor.

How do I get the installer to “see” that card and let me install these programs? It has almost never worked for me. So I installed the new set, and then started installing all the upgrades I’ve been waiting to install, such as DVD 4.

Well, I installed Cinema Tools 3. First I had to upgrade to Quicktime 7. That seemed to go ok, and I had to restart after that. I did and went on to update the others in the FCS pack I can’t get any of the other updates to open!

And when I look at the Compressor version I now have it’s 2. Once again Compressor feels like the kiss of death. Or was it QuickTime? This is the statis of my software versions: I’m on a quad G5 and I noticed other people in very recent threads having trouble with Compressor are using G5s as well.

I’m ready for some advice; I have a big project looming and was trying to finally get Compressor straightened out, assuming that would happen with the recent upgrades Thanks for any Help.

I mistakenly posted it there first. Hey there, I went ahead and upgraded the pro apps, permissions, FCP to 5. I have years of spread sheets on Apple Works that I have to have access to.

And lots of other stuff on Neo Office. How can I get them back? I find iWorks to be very difficult to use. Much more complicated than AppleWorks. I can’t even save the spreadsheet after spending more than an hour getting it set up like I want.

So I have made copies of old spreadsheets, whited out the dates figures written them in by hand. I feel like I’m back in the stone age with a tablet rock!!

I have been a faithful Apple product buyer, user, including stocks, for over 20 years. I’m so disappointed in them I probably won’t buy another Apple product or recommend them.

I won’t take a chance on Mountain Lion, because it will probably mess up my computers even more. I upgraded OS X to Any help would be greatly appreciated. Don’t think there’s much if any functionality differences between the versions.

I have the Target exclusive Lion King blu-ray, which was supposed to have the film’s track soundtrack on the disc as part of the digital copy. All I can get off the disc is the film itself. Anyidea why this is happening?

I have a client that insists I make him Multichannel wav’s. I have no idea where to start. Is there a way to output multi channel wav’s on a mac using Soundtrack, compressor or any other software?

Yep, just make sure your submix is set to surround, , and you’ll get a surround file when you export. The update seemed to work fine, but when I open up FCP or any of the other apps, the version numbers are not changed.

From the Pro Application Update page:. This update includes Final Cut Pro 7. The software addresses general compatibility issues, improves overall stability, and addresses a number of other minor issues.

Since none of my FCS apps have upgrade version numbers, I can’t tell if any of the fixes were applied. Is it possible I did something wrong when I ran the update?

That was my problem. A little more info from the update installer, and I would’ve figured it out myself. Ive noticed that the Apple TV compressor is not as good as it once was. Some images on the same reel that Ive outputted before look more pixelated.

Has the compressor changed? I tried making an aiff soundtrack file and I still get crackling. How can I fix this? I would like to know if I can still install Soundtrack pro inorder to take advantage of the audio data base which it has.

Apple loops for soundtrack pro in Final Cut Pro X. Been using mountain lion reminders for around 1 month. They were fine until I restarted the computer, first restart since mountain lion install, after around 1 month.

After restart, many reminders have simply gone from both my Imac and Iphone. The reminders left are very old, probably around 3 weeks old, both on the Mac and Iphone. Has anyone else had this issue?

It has certainly affected my confidence in the app. I install Soundtrack Pro. Compressor 2 is very slow with natress Gconverter. Compressor 2 also have an advanced format conversion. But it doesn’t work properly and I don’t have time for some experiment because it take a lots of time.

Oh, it would be nice if you acknowledged that you had read my suggestions and even better if you reported back with your results did it work or not or did you even try. I am about to buy a MBP 15″ I understand FCS2 and Pro9 are incompatible.

However, by a small outlay I purchased “Pacifist” which allows you to open the. At first – although FCP loaded, it still didn’t work. FCP finally got all the files it needed to run and now works OK.

I have soundtrack pro version 3. For some reason the option to install Soundtrack Pro and Compressor are greyed out when performing installation of Logic Stdio. I had installed Logic Studio previously but ran out of disk space and so uninstalled the program, upgraded my hard drive and I’m now at the point of reinstallation – but can’t install those two programs.

Try this steps to [fully uninstall Logic Studio http: After waiting for an unusually slow launch of Soundtrack Pro, I used the program briefly to edit a project and finally selected the menu option to quit.

The next message was that Soundtrack Pro had unexpectedly quit. When considering any recent system changes, I remembered the most recent Security Update from Apple.

Sure enough, Soundtrack Pro was unusually slow to load, and the same error message occurred after quitting. The only common system change for both computers in the last few days has been the Security Update from Apple.

Tonight is the first time since then when I have attempted to run Soundtrack Pro on either computer. I had this problem about a year ago with the original Soundtrack, and in the end, the only fix was a clean reinstall of OS X, followed by reinstallation of all applications.

Neither reinstalling Soundtrack nor running permission verifications and repairs fixed the problem. Has anyone worked out this consistent and incredibly annoying Soundtrack Pro “crashes on quit” problem?

My install is doing the same under I apologize for the length of this post, but I tried to be as thorough as possible to help in the diagnosis. About a month ago, Soundtrack Pro developed a stuttering problem.

Since then I’ve reformatted the computer for other reasons and for the first 2 weeks the problem didn’t manifest. Just yesterday, the problem returned but with a new addition.

Any time I render to action, the pitch shifts up, although I’ve not used any such effect. Each one has user defined presets that I’ve been using for months now with no problems. My workflow is as follows: I then open that export in Soundtrack.

Everything sounds fine, minus the stuttering issue mentioned earlier. I convert the stereo to mono and then add my Linear Phase EQ, Compressor, then Limiter and set the already made presets for each.

I then Render to Action and at this point the audio is now approximately 2 Semi-Tones higher. The first time this happened I got the error message “The render file couldn’t be written. Uncaught exception” with the options “quit” and “ok.

I’m feel like I’m losing my mind here. Therefore, andy help or suggestions would be very appreciated. I sent a sequence to Soundtrack Pro and for some reason the first eleven scenes or 1: I have no hidden automation stuff going on.

In fact, I can listen to it fine when I press play and the Master track, which I am exporting has a signal. I’ve tried exporting to multiple formats. Its only when I export, that this sound disappears.

During the export, the meters light up and reflect the reduced or non existent sound Only on one seemingly random occasion did this segment of sound also disappear even when playing back within Soundtrack.

It seems there is some hidden controlling going on, but the fact that the sound plays back fine usually.. Soundtrack has also become very sluggish, I believe since this last update.

Any ideas or similar experiences are appreciated Problem fixed, apparently by 7. I have an MS Laptop, too. No problem on that one, still 25Mbit, but both my macs have become painfully slow..

Please check if you guys have the same problem. Lion is terribly disappointing. I have an 32MBit connection and since I upgraded to With my macbook on Because I have not received them!?..

I have a movie soundtrack in FCP6 with 13 tracks. I’ve tried to use Compressor already and converted it to a stereo AC-3 file. It does not sound very good although, there are a lot of volume level ups and downs.

The tracks are already pre-mixed in the FCP sound timeline. How should I go about mixing these 13 tracks into a final stereo mix that sounds like the mix in FCP right now? What is the best method to make a digital stereo mix I can then send to DVD Studio to join up with my video footage?

I have been following him for a few years now. I have a similar issue to the post here: My workflow is as follows.. Edit movie in imovie – export as a single mov file.

Open Garageband, select the soundtrack option and import mov file created in previous step. Create Soundtrack in garageband. Select share and select Mov file with same settings as source video – I change the filename to reflect that this has the soundtrack added.

This new file plays perfectly in QT. I now upload this new Mov file to youtube. I also convert the mov file file to ipad specs using isky video converter. Both the youtube version and the ipad version have no soundtrack – just the original source audio from the video!

Where has the soundtrack gone? Can anyone shed any light on why this happens and then how to rectify it. I’m not surprised there bug fixes are coming think and fast for Soundtrack Pro.

I find it very unstable. No more so than when I dare to save! Firstly, it has an annoying habit of resetting the compressor filters gain to 0db when saving. I now rememeber this so I restore it’s setting after saving.

None of these options work and you have to force quit. Fortunately the work has been saved when performing a save when this happens. If there’s a work around or a bug fix on the way let me know.

Meanwhile I’ll endure this tempremental but nice piece of software. I have a 28 min video in p 25fps in pro res HQ. When played back in FCPX, it sounds perfect.

Has anyone had this problem? Just experienced the same problem and found a very good description of the problem plus easy-to-apply workaround here: I did now like described in the youtube video and got great results.

Should I use 48 khZ at 24 bit? I have the option of 16 bit from the drop down menu too. I should pick the higher one at 24 bit? Hi, I have recently installed Mackeeper in my iMac.

Later on I was recommended to uninstall the logic pro, so when I reinstalled the logic pro the following components Compressor and Soundtrack Pro were deselected, it was in gray and I couldn’t find out how to install it.

The other issue is that the installation was successfully completed without installing the Logic Studio Audio Contents 1,2,3 and Demo Content was also not installedIs there anything wrong I did?

Many thanks in advance. I have mixed a number of my songs in Logic using the surround sound automation, consequently I am desperate to hear them in actual 5. Here the problems begin.

In Logic, I can do surround bounces, which gives me either a single wav file or two separate files Left Right. I have tried importing these bounced files to Soundtrack, and I did something in there and I ended up with AC3 files, which only open in Compressor.

I opened the file in Compressor only to be totally stumped as to what to do next. I have been through the manuals and each time I get to a part I am interested in it sends me to different pages, or as is most common, Soundtrack Pro manual refers me to Compressor manual, then the Compressor manual refers me back to Soundtrack Pro manual.

Whilst in Compressor, I think I compressed the odd file as I had to set ‘Targets’ and ‘Jobs’ I admit to having no idea what I was doing, despite reading the manual.

I found some file information on the tracks I had compressed which said that they were AC3 files, encoded to Dolby Digital 5. I would be really grateful if someone could take a few minutes to give me a simple step by step procedure how to take a Logic song mixed in 5.

Serious thanks and head bowing in anticipation of the required info! I really am at my wits end. Sadly you have confirmed what I suspected Why would Apple bundle Compressor if you can’t do anything with it?

Apple, if you are reading this, how about a discount for people who’ve already bought Logic Studio 8? Surely you wouldn’t want to rip off your customers and make them pay for software twice?

I’ve been watching the tutorials on Lynda. So I have some questions. By the way, I edit with headphones. I don’t have external speakers so I can’t monitor the SS audio.

I noticed in Soundtrack that even though you have 6 tracks they are combined into 1 track. In the compressor tutorial it shows how to add each of the SS tracks individually.

So when you have 1 track of surround sound from Soundtrack how would you import 6 different tracks. I understand that but I’m not going to mix anything anytime soon.

I’m not even sure if the station I work for can broadcast in surround sound. I’m just curious about how it works. It’s just the nerd in me needing to know. I have a full lab of iMac’s with FC Express HD and we need to get a hold of Compressor so that the students can compress video for preperation of Dvd’s and final projects.

I seen in one of the postings that you can get compressor is SoundTrack was purchased, but I do not see that on the Apple web site. We have the Pro Appz, which have compressor, but we would like to have compressor in the FC express lab as well.

Is there some way to just install it as a non Pro App, or if need be, buy it some how? How can I add additional codecs to Compressor? I have several components like the Turbo H. Is there a way to integrate them?

I just opened Soundtrack Pro for the first time and know nothing about it. I am doing voice overs in Final Cut Pro using a mixer and a headset. Is there any advantage of me doing these recordings in Soundtrack Pro instead?

Are there any other filters I should consider using for narration? Any other reasons to use Soundtrack Pro for what I am doing? Since the gallery part of dot mac is gone, how can I share family videos?

I would like to be able to use my Lion server to do that, but am not sure how, using a web-based GUI as was done on the dot mac gallery. I have figured out thanks to apple support how to use lion server for web sharing and file sharing.

I’ve got a 24p sequence in FCP, have build a sound track in SoundTrack and imported into the sequence. Playback in FCP as well as in the exported. However, after using compressor to build an kbps streaming.

Voices speaking don’t match the images of them talking. I have paid for and downloaded Mountain Lion. When I login and use it, all my files have gone music, apps, bookmarks ect.. I have since used the time machine to go back but I’d like to upgrade to ML but still have all my original files.

How do I do this?? I installed logic pro 9 everything was ok soundtrack pro and compressor was installed but I decided to uninstall it. After a few days I installed it again but i didn’t have a possibility to install the soundtrack pro and the compressor because it automatically skipped it.

Its grey and when trying the to press on both nothing helped What should I do? I deleted the old logic pro before trying to install everything but the garage band loops and I use to have a Final cut pro express and read that it may be the problem so I deleted it and it still didn’t help.

Is there a solution? I’ve found that since upgrading to Lion, that some. Audio is fine in Quicktime Player 7Is this a bug with Lion? I have Lion I have tried trashing preferences, I have tried downloading a fix called “compressor repair.

I would like to get around having to completely uninstalling and reinstalling the FCP suite if at all possible. What do I do??? You need to restart qmaster and set it up Now this is a good test.

I have a quick cluster set up in Compressor 4, which works just dandy when I open Compressor by itself to process existing video files. The quick cluster isn’t even offered as an option. This is really slowing me down!

Current version MacBook Pro, Lion Soundtrack Pro is no longer loading past the startup screen for me, and when I launch it via the raw application in its MacOS folder, terminal gives me this: Wed Jan 11 I thought it might have something to do with it trying to open the last project, so I tried reopening another project, and that didn’t work.

I’ve also trashed the preference file, which also didn’t work. I’ve already reinstalled twice, and I’m not anxious to just try it again as I’ve already had to fix Logic Pro in Lion by replacing ProKit and BrowserKit frameworks with earlier versions.

There are an unfortunate number of issues with these pro apps and Lion, and I unfortunately don’t have the option of going back to Snow Leopard, but I would if I had the time.

I tried to install Logic Studio 9 upgrade today and there are a lot of problems. For one, Compressor 3. Quartermaster also did not update, leaving me with 3. Soundtrack is at version 3. I followed the instructions on the Knowledge Base article about the iLife 11 conflict, but that didn’t make any difference.

I also cannot log into the updates page on Apple’s web site here http: I have tried my Logic Studio 8 serial number and the serial number from my Logic Studio 9 Upgrade, and it just keeps telling me that they are invalid numbers.

I have tried them with and without the dashes. The LS9 Upgrade installer accepted my serial numbers no problem, and I sent the registration to Apple. I’m totally baffled as to why the web page is denying me access.

I wish I could just uninstall everything and start over but they don’t even include an uninstaller. So at this point I have no clue how to get access to the support page since it’s denying my serial numbers and it’s not letting me update Compressor or Quartermaster but everything else seems to have updated.

It also keeps EX24 synth grayed out. I know this is a mess of a post but I’ve been trying to get this going for hours and hours and am exhausted and frustrated. Thanks for any advice.

I solved this by doing a complete hard drive wipe. I’m having an issue where I’m losing my settings on Soundtrack Pro plug-ins. I’ve only really experienced this using the Compressor.

For example, today the gain on my compressor kept resetting back to zero, even when there was no automation data I have checked and deleted all automation data off the track.

It seems like a bug to me, but maybe I’m missing something? I currently have Lion I want to go back to Snow Leopard This will be the first time to wipe my main drive clean on my Mac Pro.

Is there a way to save my applications out to an external drive so I don’t have to load them all again after I do a downgrade to Snow Leopard. Thank you for your help. Thank you so much Kappy! I appreciate your time in writing this.

Please help me, Robert Holland. I had to take Compressor 3. Final Cut Server was able to find it and use it. You might want to find that and not take my word for it because I am not sure. Not having used Compressor, I’m wondering which of the following workflows people recommend:.

In theory, are they doing the same thing? The “Using Compressor” export brings up a “Compressor Processing” window with frame numbers ascending pretty slowly, the progress bar is just a big barber-shop pole it doesn’t fill left to right, and there’s no “expected finish time”, so I don’t know if it’s really saving me any time.

At least the Quicktime export gave me a nice progress bar and only took an hour or so. Thank you both, this is very helpful information. Our movie is pretty straightforward narrative with few effects or titles, and it seems like the indirect export gives “good enough” results for now, at least – and it only ties FCP up for half an hour!

I hadn’t realised that the direct Compressor export didn’t use all my cores. Maybe worth testing it on an overnight run and see if there’s enough of a difference.

Up until now, I’ve just been using the ” minute” DVD preset within Compressor, but I’m keen to experiment to find the best-looking compression I am sending a x hdv sequence out to compressor 3 for export as a HD Mpeg 2 file with audio HD high quality 30 minuites preset after about 10 attempts and hours of time wasted the resulting video files keeps coming out at x!

I have tried everything. All the final cut pro settings are set to x and all the compressor settings are x but I keep getting x out. Even if I export as quicktime movie from final cut and then encode the file in compressor it does the same thing.

This is the first time I have used this in Final Cut Studio 2 and it hasnt worked. When I send it to compressor I keep the settings the same, but when I try to upload to Youtube or Vimeo, the upload fails.

But the quality drops dramatically. I’ve noticed that some other videos on YouTube still maintain very high quality though and I’m wondering if I could do something differently or compress to different settings to get better quality.

I’m not sure if the settings between what you’re shooting and what was prescribed in the other thread will cause conflict, or not. If I were you I’d simply try capturing a few clips with these “new” settings that were recommended and see if you’re happy with the results.

If socarry on with a larger capture, edit. My sequences settings are:. HD x 16×9 Pixel Aspect Ratio: HD x Editing Timebase: Rendering in 8 bit YUV. I’m not concerned with time just highest possible quality so that it holds up well on HD televisions.

Those tips are solid for the pesky HDV conversion. My problem is the i, fullblown HD to SD. Compressor works if I drag a file from the finder. I have also a problem with Qmaster, if I choose Apple Qmaster for system preferenses, system preferanses crashes.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Compressor and Qmaster earlier Compressor couldnt even lauch. A window should now open with all your submissions from FCP from previous times the app seemed unresponsive.

This worked for me. Hope it will work for you. Your Qmaster problem is a different matter –I have not yet used Qmaster, so I can’t help you there The reason I ask the question is because I would like to buy a training video from Lynda.

I assume that it would work just fine, because I doubt the interface, etc has changed much between the two versions of Compressor. Am I safe in that assumption?

Larry does a great job. I just bought his newest book. He just doesn’t have anything for Compressor 3. Anyone out there who can help please. The next time Compressor seems to stall right at the very end of the encode, just find the output file that is being created and rename it to something else eg test.

This has happened to me lots of times. I have a project ready to send to compressor, every time I sent to compressor about an hour later compressor stop working and it either say ” Failed or Final cut quit unexpecteddly” , I’ve done many projects before never had this problem, the only diference in this project I shoot p 30fps, I normally shoot 24fps, any suggestions, advice,,,,really need help I need to complete this project for a customer, I’m ussing final cut pro 7.

I had to export my film in chunks and now have 3 seperate files from Final Cut Pro that I need to compress for the web one final file. Is this possible to do through compressor?

Tried to give you the solved green star but got this error: Please contact the system administrator if the problem persists. Now I don’t have to encode to ProRes then to Compressor to encode to a custom h.

When i try to render a very short video of 15 minutes, it crashes after two hours. My FCPX is I cant find the reazon of this problem and dont know how to find a solution. I will thanks any advice.

Well thanks Ian but I have found a good solution for me in this thread, https: From “show project library” under Window, highlight the project in question. Under file, select “delete project render files.

Choose delete “all project render files. Close down FCP X and relaunch. Load project into the timeline. Alow FCP X to render the entire project without interuption.

Make sure all other applications are shut down and that “energy saver” is turned off under Apple “system preferences. Soo, I am trying to multi-clip 5 cameras.

I have already converted the go pro’s to. So I took them into compressor, and converted them all to Xp, brought them back in to Final Cut Pro 7, and now the frame rates are wrong.. What do I do?

How do I fix this? Find the ProRes preset in the Settings Tab. Change the name to whatever makes sense to you. It should be enabled. If it isn’t enable it. Set the frame rate here.

The audio may be set to “pass through”. You do not want this. Good Better will dramatically increase render times but if Good looks not so good, you’ll have to up the ante here Set Duration to: This will change the frame rate but keep the overall time the same.

This should get you started. There is much I haven’t talked about and you can figure out by playing with the software. I don’t remember which we did first, but we also upgraded this machine to Tiger at the same time.

The guy that does most of the video work on this machine reported to me that compressor wasn’t working. That it would launch and crash, and sure enough it does. So I did some investigating, and the version of Compressor that appears to be installed on the system is 1.

I tried to reinstall from the disk and and on the install screen where it lists the packages to install the ‘Custom Install on “Macintosh HD”‘ screen, Compressor shows up as unchecked, greyed out and with “Skip” in the Action column.

I’ve even tried removing Compressor from the Applications folder and that doesn’t seem to make a difference.

So I thought it could be an issue from Mackeeper, I requested a help from them and they asked me to send my report and I sent to them.

Later on I was recommended to uninstall the logic pro, so when I tried to reinstall it, the Soundtrack Pro 3 was deselected, it was in gray and I couldn’t find out how to install it.

I checked the User Guide and there is said: If the Logic Studio installer detects Final Cut Studio 2 or earlier on your system, it automatically deselects the checkboxes for Soundtrack Pro and Compressor in the Custom Install pane”So, I don’t know wether I proceed with the installation with “uncheked Soundtrack Pro” or not!

What do I have to do? Please I’m quite new in this Thanks in advance. I have tried pairing my infrared controller agan but it just wont recognise it. Seems very strange that they have both gone together?

Found the problem the hdd cable had developed a fault at the connection where the cable clips in from the ir module. I have wave burner and compressor, as well as Soundtrack Pro.

I did not suspect that i would have to search this hard after having all these fantasic tools. I have tried to export a track to MP3 and to Compressor but all I get is the Exporting window and that’s as far as it goes.

It says, ‘Time Remaining: I had even left it for a few hours and still nothing happened. The program isn’t frozen, just the export isn’t working. Is this a common problem? Can it be fixed?

That’s the setting I have been going for all along. It simply stops while trying to export – doesn’t crash the program but just stalls. I have changed the sample rates all the way through the project so they match – should the bit rates match too?

I’m on a limited budget in the UK. Want to get started on Color but don’t have a good monitor. Anyone got any thoughts? The Gateway HD is not available here now and it’s the one I keep getting recommended.

FCP has gone up from It’s actually not even straightforward – increases range from 4. Hi GuysLooking for suggestionsupgraded to Lion last week but haven’t really needed to use colour since then. But know I have a job that requires it.

I have cut the job as per usuall with no issues and if anything since the system software upgrade I have found my MBP to be a little more responsive however, I have gone to send my project to colour and it is greyed out.

I can send to everything else but not colour. There are no media anomalies. I have worked with this media format for ages now and never had any problems. I did a job 2 weeks a go that included the same media and workflow with no issues.

At this point I am going to try and export an edl from FCP and go direct into colour with that and just point to the media that way. Not sure wether it will send back to FCP though.

On the logic installation disk, under custom install setting there are all the boxes of what apps. The Compressor file is faded and says skip next to it. I had to uninstall Logic on my com.

I went threw everything on my com. Now I haven’t installed anything else but compressor simply wont install off this disk. Any one have similiar issues? My warranty is past, but could I still exchange this product for a new one, Im pretty sure It’s the disk it self which was messed up.

Im beyond frustrated and Ive spent on wards of weeks trying to figure this out. Yep, I found this through another hour’s worth of searching, etc. It installed manually just fine and works great.

I just bought the upgrade to Logic Studio and not Final Cut as I mainly do audio work and rarely video editing any more. The installation instructions say that Soundtrack Pro 3 and Compressor 3.

Is there a way to install Soundtrack Pro 3 as a standalone application in another part of my computer, like under a different user or in some way where I can open it independently from the Final Cut Studio 2 program?

Or is upgrading Final Cut Studio 2 to version 3 my only option? Run Software update a few times until there is no more to update This will erase the hard drive and install a new OS on it.

To boot from this drive, hold down the option key during a startup, and you can pick it from the dialog box that opens. To reboot just select the other drive in the startup disk pref in Apple System prefs.

I have just recently purchased Logic Studio. I have only installed Logic 8, not the whole Studio package. I am worried about installing the whole package as I have the first Final Cut Studio on my machine.

I use FCS 2 and Logic 8 on my “old” Powermac, no issues there and no problems even while running both “studios” at the same time. I have been trying since yesterday to move a complicated soundtrack for a 30 second film over to soundtrack so i can tweak it.

Have tried export For Soundtrack but the resulting file just seems to be the same as if I had exported the basic quicktime file. I have over 50 Audio tracks and moving them one at a time over to Soundtrack is not really an option.

Since getting the latest Mountain Lion and Safari I’ve been getting a message to choose an iPhoto library and I seem to have chosen the wrong thing and my iPhoto pictures are all gone.

The problems that I am having with Soundtrack Pro currently seem to break down into two parts. These may be related or unrelated, I am unsure. Problem 1 Soundtrack Pro displays Disk Limit message.

Soundtrack Pro displayed this message when the problem first occurred but every time since about 20 30 times in a week it has simply frozen and dropped audio without explanation.

As well as having dropped the audio being played or recorded, it has refused to output any audio until I have restarted the whole computer. Problem 2 Soundtrack Pro will disappear.

I will be working in a project never have I been doing the same thing twice when this error has occurred and the Soundtrack Pro program will completely disappear from the screen leaving me staring at whatever programs or windows are beneath on the desktop.

Upon reopening Soundtrack Pro I will find that all my projects and unsaved audio are gone. These are problems that need to be solved as soon as possible. I work with a professional voice over company and we have just purchased not even three weeks ago this highly recommended software and PowerBook G4 laptop.

We have invested a lot of time and money in this only to thus far be disappointed by this poor performance of the program. We cannot continue use of this program under these circumstances.

These errors have brought production to a stand still and we cannot afford to lose contracts due to technical difficulties. Any input that could be offered as to a solution would be much apprectiated.

I thank you in advance for your assistance. Mark, Just wondering if you ever got your 90m film finished. I am totally disappointed with STPro. It has some really excellent features but it is so sluggish.

I think the “Truth in Advertising” might look into the fact that Walter Murch, a guy renowned for full-length features is endorsing this sub-standard product. I can’t possibly imagine Murch using this for anything other than play.

I also use Vegas by Sony a pc based software and it can do everything ST Pro does with one exception No farming the audio out to some other time-consuming software.

It’s all right with the video. No redraws, no grey line progressing as it saves and processes. I am new to Soundtrack Pro and think it would be an easier, more flexible way to process my FCP audio.

I usually only have a stereo pair. Normally what I need to do is run the tracks through a limiter and compressor, and sometimes a noise gate. I would love a pointer to a tutorial that walks you through a typical workflow from the time you export from FCP to a Soundtrack Pro project, run the stereo tracks through the limiter and compressor, and then send it back to FCP so I can then run the FCP project out to Compressor for my final MPEG-2 and dolby audio files.

This will send your clip to soundtrack where you can apply effects and treatment. Every time you hit save in soundtrack while working on the audio clip, FCP will update the audio clip in the timeline.

This is the essence of the round trip ability. I prefer this over exporting then sweetening because you can tweak assets independently. The only odd issue with this is that you can not send a stereo pair to an audio file project.

My workaround is to just save user presets of the effects I applied to one channel, then just applying them to the next. But for the most part I don’t shoot much true stereo, as in a L-R mic pattern, so its no big deal.

Is it possible to export Final Cut Pro X projects or. Is it possible to export the project or the final.

Feedback would be greatly appreciated. Or would it just make sense to just use Final Cut Pro 7, since I have a permanent copy of it? What is best to store on the Macintosh internal hard drive?

What is best to store on the external hard drive? Hi guys, There’s seems to be a problem with my Soundtrack Pro after upgrading to Lion. Whenever I scroll either from left to right or right to left while playing the audio in Soundtrack pro, it just stops.

It’s exteremely annoying as whenever I scroll, I have to press spacebar again to hit play on the clip. Was wondering if someone has a similar problem as well. Here a video I recorded using Screenflow to help my explaination.

I had this problem when I upgraded to Lion. It seems to be solved after using a USB keyboard and mouse for editing. Soundtrack Pro doesn’t seem to get along well with the magic mouse.

Ok I have used compressor just fine on my computer a couple of times, now all of a sudden when I boot up compressor, the program seems to start up but none of the 5 windows are displayed.

I can go into the window tab and bring up all the windows but the batch window thus I cant bring anything into compressor. The same thing happens if I try to export from final cut, motion, and soundtrack and I am unable to use compressor straight from these programs.

I have no idea why this happened and what to do. Also try picking a layout from the windows menu. Choosing a layout from Windows: Layouts did the trick. I have created a video podcast in Final Cut Pro 6, this has been sent to Soundtrack Pro 2, where I have added chapters and title information.

If export directly from Soundtrack Pro I get an. The problem is, exporting this way gives you no further compression options. Particularly with regards to the aspect ratio, the clip i have is The says you can set it to export via compressor, this works and I can create a In summary I am trying to create a true I just upgraded Logic, from 9 to Studio.

When I installed the package, Compressor was ‘greyed’ out. Soundtrack Pro 3 won’t work without it, so I bought Compressor from the App store. Now I have Compressor installed but Soundtrack 3 still doesn’t work.

Re-installed but no success. You need to contact Apple support and explain the situation accurately and carefully. That’s what I did and they reimbursed me for the Compressor I purchased and walked me through the solution.

It was a while back now; I think there was a version of Compressor I downloaded for fress based on their suggestions Anyway, everything works fine and although Apple DOE NOT like to give refunds if you are clear about the issue they will know exactly what the problem is and will help out.

I’ve run in to major problems with Compressor 2. I purchased the Soundtrack Pro Upgrade and it also added Compressor 2. I have experienced many problems with compressor 2 I’ve seen them listed here and needed to totally rebuild to get back to a working system with Compressor 1.

I tried many of the suggestions with little luck. I have not yet installed Soundtrack Pro, as I cannot afford to bring my system to a halt again with Compressor 2. Is there any way to install Soundtrack Pro without Compressor 2?

I’ve been through the install and the documentation, but did not see the option. Anyone know any way to do this? If you get Charles Srstka’s Pacifist, you will be able to install whatever you need to wherever you want I have a very nice and clever Officejet Pro a, which does what it says on the can.

Is there software available for me to take advantage of this lovely printer’s facilities? There are drivers available for Mac OS The drivers can be found by clickinghere. I have reinstalled soundtrack from the DVD and the 2.

That should sort it out. I have been buying FCE since it first came out. I use Live Type a fair bit, but have only recently wanted to use Soundtrack. Soundtrack is on my hard drive but I can’t seem to open it.

What serial number are you using? It will not recognize the v4 serial number. It needs the serial number for the original version it came with. Mail application is still there. All of my emails and folders are gone since iCloud.

How can I get them back using Snow Leopard? Do I have to wait for Mountain Lion? Soundtrack pro 3 on Mountain Lion crashes when saving. I have a project with 22 tracks, 8gb RAM but nothing, it always crashes.

I spoke with someone pretty knowledgable about Compressor who suggested having the old Compressor 3. Why doesn’t Compressor 4 offer to import the previous settings?

Is this a legacy feature thing? Should I really start from scratch? I’m learning from Lynda. I need some help in getting my audio to speed up in compressor since A-pack is gone now.

I have a im3 movie 1 hour and 8 min long and it takes over 4 hours to get halfway in exporting either a Aiff or Ac3 file. The new update for compressor will shut down my studio efforts completely with software doing this.

I got my video to get down to the normal speed of 3. I am a professional video editor with 22 years of experience, and have been a registered Final Cut Pro user since version 1. For reasons unknown to me Compressor 4 has stopped opening a new batch window when I send a job to it.

Glad to hear it. I pretty much agree with your earlier post, although I have a shorter and shallower perspective on these new digital paradigms than you. After upgrading to Final Cut Express 4, my soundtrack app from a previous version of FCE does not launch, I get a “Soundtrack quit unexpectedly” error.

I tried to reinstall soundtrack from my original DVD but that changed nothing. I took it to the Apple store and they told me that since I upgrade to FCE 4, my old version of soundtrack will no longer work since that is not included with FCE anymore only the studio version.

However, I found an apple support page that says Soundtrack will be left unchanged http: I have the new mac mini running lion and a mac pro running snow leopard.

Compressor 4 is only installed on the mac pro. Would it work if compressor was installed on the mini? Also, how many times can I download and install compressor 4 or lion for that matter from the app store?

I try to updated my FCS 6. I restart it but still have the 6. Using two-pass VBR yeilds awefull results. Two people have since told me that the Two-Pass mode in Compressor dosn’t work properly and is not to be used; they told me that only the one-pass option works properly in Compressor.

Brian is correct here. If you are using Compressor 2 you should not use any version below 2. The MPEG-2 condec was completely rewritten between the initial release and the last update.

If for some reason you cannot update, the workaround is to use CBR if you’re seeing artifacts etc. I’ve had my PS2 since launch, but think it’s about time I upgraded!! I have had a movie for 3 years which I have not been able to watch or at least listen to!

The movie only has a DTS soundtrack, no Dolby!! So will the PS3 play the movie with audio with no special additions, like surround sound speakers? Congrats on the purchase.

Glad you finally got to enjoy the movie but as KELRath said, what was it? I’ve uninstalled it and reloaded Compressor on two different computers and it still doesn’t work I’ve also got two computers and it won’t open on either.

Yes I have Lion Is this the case? Let’s see if someone can help, since the last update to 6. When submitting final cut created the tab with the long number but as soon compressor is fully loaded the tab in final cut disappeared and when hit submit in compressor compressor just sits and nothing happens.

I have tried to export as quick time first and put that in compressor and that works and sometimes does not work any idea. SoundTrack Pro can’t do: Surround mixing it can do surround but it can’t really mix surrond accross channels 2.

Can’t create original content music. This is more of a validation question and not a complaint at all. Has anyone found anything in SoundTrack Pro that is a must have that can’t be accomplished in Logic Pro?

I have a x video in Apple Pro Res and a separate. I would like to combine the two files to make a h. Is there a way to do this using Compressor or Soundtrack? Yeah, it was just to make a nice, easy batch in order to get different formats made efficiently.

The one thing throwing a wrench since we’re using tool references in things was the surround sound file. In the past I had issues with sync making a compressor batch out of FCP with the surround.

Let me know if you’ve had success and I can give it another shot. I installed logic studio under Lion, an upgrade from Logic express. Everything worked fine except Soundtrack There was an error message.

So I tried to ininstall, just dropped Soundtrack and other programs in the basket and reinstalled but And no I don’t have final cut or any other program, as I know that could interfere. Are there some files I could delete or disactivate to be able to reinstall???

I did all the possible upgrades I’m not a coder, but I’ve been digging to figure out this problem. My MacBook Pro freezes occasionally, requiring a hard boot. Every time this happens, after rebooting I look at the Console and this is the last line before the freeze: No such file or directory.

I haven’t done that action in over a year, and have even upgraded this computer to Lion This problem also happened on the previous operating system. Without any programming knowledge, this suggests to me that Compressor is somehow triggering an action to look for files in that directory, even though I’m not using Compressor or any other program like it FCP, QT, etc.

This action happens in the background at seemingly random times and it hangs the computer every time it happens. Does anyone have a suggestion for how I can stop this action from happening?

You can edit the list of folders that are watch by Folder Actions Dispatcher. You might consider disabling the Folder Action for your external drive. Since upgrading to Lion, my application ‘Movie Collector’ – is not working properly.

Therfore all previous content of that user folder – appears to have gone missing too!! This problem seems to have surfaced out of nowhere. When using the commandshifte command to export from Motion using Compressor, Motion crashes.

Was fine yesterday and have not done any software updates since. Can export directly out of Motion but need to do a batch. Trashed Motion and Compressor prefs and repaired permissions.

Compressor fires up on its own just fine. I upgraded from 1. I just read a post that says earlier versions had compressor and soundtrack not v. I guess I obviously missed out with my versions.

Does compressor have any advantages now that iDVD has better compressions or is it virtually the same? FCE 4 may not be all that bad, because as Tom said in an earlier post – you don’t miss what you never had.

Plus it has those new FXPlug effects etc. I upgraded a 4 month old mac book pro to lion. I’m not sure where to post this, since I’m not sure where in the process the problem is.

I imported it into FCP and edited it together with the video. Then I compressed it in Dolby. I listened to the audio where I could hear the narrator very clearly. There all the sounds were there except the narrator, he was gone.

It was so strange. I later realized that the narrator audio could be heard on the TV, but only very very low. At full volume I could barely make out what he was saying.

I thought it was something to do with the right and left speaker, but I tried that. I tried flattening the audio, but still the narrator audio was very low. I’ve heard about this stereo sound creating silence before, just didn’t think it was this powerfull.

I now managed to fix it. I’ve gone to security pane and tried to reset the permission for compressor and batch monitor, but it doens’t help. If i change the refresh in Batch Monitor settings, it helps, but defeats the purpose as i don’t want to have to manually refresh just to see how the job is progressing.

Hi, noticed your post and problem. Here is an idea that worked for me with the same problems with different programs. Check your Security Pane in System Preferences see if the program is there and set to allow.

If not set it to allow and re-boot.

The project was shot using a Canon Rebel T2i. When i send to compressor and choose Best Quality 90 minutes, the audio finishes but compressor “fails” the video.

How can I make this work? I ran into the compressor “cannot connect to background processes,” error in the new version of compressor right off the bat so I dumped everything I could before I had to try and reinstall it.

Finally, I had to uninstall compressor. Now when I try and reinstall compressor from the Final Cut Studio DVD custom install menu, it will go through the install process, but compressor is not installed.

Do I need to reinstall compressor from the previous bundle, then install the update from the update DVD? I ask because the old bundle disks are far away at the moment. I am new to final cut x and i cannot get my video to export or share to youtube in hd.

I think I am just missing where to change this. Please let me know how to change this. Also do you have to use compressor to do it? I guess so as it appears to work here O. Am viewing it now!

I’m getting a strange error when I export to Compressor from Final Cut. When Compressor opens I get the following error message. Compressor still operates to some degree but my whole system slows down to a crawl and Final Cut itself crashes.

I have not adjusted any settings, updated any software or anything. One export it worked like normal, then on the next the error occurred and has been there ever since. I’m working in HDVi50 and exporting the same basically just archiving clips.

I’ve tried deleting preferences of both Final Cut and Compressor and I’ve trawelled around looking for answers, but I’ve not been able to find anything, so I would really appreciate some help before I do a complete re-install!

Actually it looks like it is a problem with Compressor as the same system slow down occurs when I try to use a Quicktime file exported from Final Cut. I was using final cut pro to render some files and using compressor to build me a mpeg stream and I came back and it had paused most of it said there was 0kb in my system drive that once had 30GB in there left.

On final cut pro my render manager are set to different drives for sure, I do use HD files and import to sxs but that says hard drive 3 and final cut says hard drive 2 and 3 so what it using my system drive.

It’s a free download and creates a visual representation of all the files on your drives, and a colour coded table enabling you to see what type of files are where, and how big they are. I thoroughly recommend it.

Click on this link to check it out yourself:. I was just playing around on our Final Cut Server and ran a software update. I immediately saw that there were 2 updates: Hopefully the compressor update fixes all the qmaster issues we’ve been having.

After doing the server update as well as update to FCP 6. I’ve created a video in Final Cut Pro and trying to export using compressor to apple tv. Each time about half way through it crashes final cut and gives me the ‘final cut pro had to quit unexpectedly’.

Haven’t a clue what is going on, it happened sometimes when i was trying to conform to HD but when i did it bit by bit it was ok. All the media is online so really haven’t a clue. I’ve tried using quicktime conversion in pro-res then bashing into compressor and it works but interlacing is all over the shop, even with de-interlace filter.

It could give you answers a lot faster if we know your details from the off. Ok, what format is your original media, what are your sequence settings please. If this is the case, are there any particular settings I should be concerned with when doing the down-conversion?

I’d appreciate the help! Generally those are off unless you turn them on. I found 7 CDs however I dont remember if there was 7 or 8. If there is 8 CD’s and not 7 what is that 8th CD. When the compressor is turning on the Final Cut this showing the “exporting XML data” every three minutes on average.

I tried making an aiff soundtrack file and I still get crackling. My sequences settings are: I have tried my Logic Studio 8 serial number and the serial number from my Logic Studio 9 Upgrade, and it just keeps telling me that they are invalid numbers. The only odd issue with this is that you can not send a stereo pair to an audio file project. HD x 16×9 Pixel Aspect Ratio: Problem fixed, apparently by 7. I have created a movie with final cut studio 7 ,output quick time.

That’s not what you want to do for muxed audio. Soundtrack Pro 3 won’t work without it, so I bought Compressor from the App store. Jerry Read All 4 Posts. Where has the soundtrack gone?

So please tell me, how I uninstall Compressor 2. Also, I downloaded the new version of Compressor 4. At full volume I could barely make out what he was saying.

Soundtrack Crashes On Start With Error 1k had that problem too, follow the same instructions from my previous post except this time load Compressor obviously. After a few days I installed it again but i didn’t have a possibility to install the soundtrack pro and the compressor because it automatically skipped it. Here the problems begin. What am I doing wrong? See…
