The big difference is the headphone jack. Aspiring filmmakers will love the 4K UHD video capture and upscale effects, including slow-motion. The center button is labeled LIVE and it cannot be moved or changed by default. We have to preference the performance aspect of this review by saying that the EUI LeEco put as the software is mostly to blame for the hiccups experienced on this device. Trouble is, good content through the in-beta EcoPass is a little thin on the ground right now. The app in general is not the fastest one out there, mainly in the sense that the shutter-to-file time is a little too long for our tastes. It often felt like I needed to hit it multiple times just to get it to trigger, making it a little annoying to wake and unlock the phone on more than a few occasions.

The big difference is the headphone jack. The OnePlus 3T has one. The Le Pro 3, like the iPhone 7, does not. Instead it opts to use USB-C. Along with the camera, battery life is one of the most important things to consider when buying a smartphone.

OnePlus opted to pack in a bigger battery into the 3T than what was inside the OnePlus 3. The battery, which is now mAh, is quite good for a phone of its size. The OnePlus 3T easily lasted me an entire day of us without having to plug it into the charger.

By being ever-so-slightly thicker, the Le Pro 3 has an even larger 4, mAh battery. That meant nearly two days of regular use without needing to plug it in. Both phones have nearly identical rear cameras.

Yet the OnePlus 3T has optical image stabilization OIS, and in my tests provided a much more detailed image, especially in areas that were too dark for the Le Pro 3. Yet both cameras will take good pictures in the right conditions lots of sunlight and are overall good shooters.

OnePlus plans to update to the just released Nougat soon, while LeEco has given no time frame. LeEco has gone the opposite direction with its EUI skin. If you want its cheap phone you need to deal with its excessive branding.

It pushes the LeEco ecosystem, a major Netflix-like streaming service in China, by putting its own video apps front and center. LeEco also has its own suite of apps. Our main newsletter is the Android Weekly which is sent every Sunday and contains all the top Android news, reviews and features from the past week.

Design is very derivative p display has a big bezel and somewhat muted colors Hardware bits perform inconsistently Camera lacks features and speed No headphone jack Software is a mess LeEco streaming service is convuluted.

They have a car concept that turned heads, bought Vizio so that they could really capture the television market, and even a smart bike that runs Android. But it all ties back — as it should — to a phone.

Does the result spell greatness for this burgeoning brand? To any avid smartphone fans, the Le Pro3 may look a little too familiar — it is honestly just too hard not to think that this phone greatly resembles the OnePlus 3 , right down to the antenna lines and the lens popping out at the top.

Users might actually mistake the two if they happen to have them lying side by side. We just really felt the need to call that out, so with that out of the way, we can step back and explore the cues.

The glossy material does take to fingerprints rather quickly, but not egregiously. One main aspect to note is that there is no headphone jack found on this phone — an adapter has to be used in order to port the USB-C.

Speaking of audio, a bottom mounted speaker is accompanied by the phone speaker that works double time for calls and media. Overall, it is good looking phone that is mostly hindered by the fact that the design is a bit too much like something that we have seen before.

Granted, the phone looks and feels quite good, but starting things off with a derivative style may foreshadow the rest of the story that is the Le Pro3. As such, this is an IPS display that comes with an unsurprising p resolution.

As an IPS display, it does get plenty bright even in broad daylight, but it seems a bit muted in its colors, noticeably lacking in vibrancy and saturation. This is in the standard LeEco color mode found in the display settings, even though there is a vivid mode that is available for that extra bit of punch.

The easiest problem to see at first glance is the sizeable bezel that is around the entire display. It can almost be considered the mark of a budgeted phone and it is plain to see in the Le Pro3.

Pixel density is obviously not as high as it would have been if this were a Quad HD screen, but it is still plenty for text and general sharpness. Reading text and websites is not difficult, and games are still fun to play despite the need for a little better coloration.

That all said, this display is about as standard as you can get. In the grand scheme of affordable flagship phones, there are definitely better display experiences. We have to preference the performance aspect of this review by saying that the EUI LeEco put as the software is mostly to blame for the hiccups experienced on this device.

The Snapdragon has already proven itself a few times over as a powerful and reliable processing package, meaning that high performance tasks from productivity to gaming are actually about as good as they should be.

Unfortunately, that is assuming the software can stably get from one place to another without messing up. I did play some good games on the Le Pro 3 that included The Trail, one of the more lag-prone gaming experiences available right now, and it was not any worse than on other Snapdragon performers like the Pixel.

That said, jumping in and out of applications using the recent apps screen is smooth, as is going through the multitudes of homescreens that users will inevitably have because there is no app drawer.

Calls on the Le Pro3 are adequately good, with no real problems on either end of the call and with few dropped calls on the T-Mobile network. Speaking of the headphone jack, it does suffer from the iPhone 7 or Moto Z problem in that an adapter has to be used in order to connect wired headphones to the phone.

This adapter is really small and can be easily misplaced, which is something that already happened to me on a couple of occasions. Bluetooth headsets are probably the best way to go for the sake of convenience, though it is an adjustment that many still have to get used to.

On a somewhat related note, getting certain Bluetooth speakers and other peripherals connected to the Le Pro3 ranged from decent to anger-inducing experiences.

The main issue was with NFC connections, which were highly inconsistent and had trouble connecting to my Bluetooth speakers. Even then, the Bluetooth connection to one of my speakers cut out a few times, which was frustrating.

Connecting the phone using a USB-C cord took multiple tries because the phone kept trying to connect via Mirrorlink rather than Android Auto, but that is yet another mark against the software, admittedly.

In addition to fantastic battery life, the Le Pro3 has the fastest Qualcomm processor available, ample RAM, and stereo speakers with an alumimum unibody build that matches phones priced twice as much.

After a few days of use, I ended up canceling my third Pixel pre-order and just can’t bring myself to pay double when the Le Pro3 meets most of my needs. Xiaomi unveils its priciest handsets, but for whom?

BlackBerry’s latest smartphone sounds promising, now available for purchase One month with my iPhone 7 Plus: The best device for important work. The brushed gold finish, beveled edges, and high quality fit and finish make the Pro3 feel like a device valued at double its price.

As you can see, the only specification that doesn’t match Android phones priced twice as much is the p display. However, the display is crisp and clear while the p resolution contributes to increased battery life.

Apple and Motorola did away with the 3. The Le Pro3 will be available in gold and gray with the gold first to launch and the color that I am testing. Speaker quality is great with the Dolby Atmos technology, but I would like to hear a bit more bass.

You will definitely be able to enjoy music, movies, and online video clearly through the included stereo speakers. The IR port is positioned along the top.

A long volume button and small power button are positioned on the upper right. The nanoSIM card slot is found on the upper left side. The fingerprint scanner is centered on the upper back with the rear camera above it and flash adjacent to the camera.

The back is brushed aluminum, but it has a smooth glossy finish. There are antenna lines along the top and bottom of the back, similar to what we see on other metal unibody phones.

I was told this support will be present when the phones ship with newer software. While the hardware is excellent and you aren’t going to find another device with these high specs at this price, the default LeEco EUI can be a bit annoying as the company pushes its ecosystem experience.

The center button is labeled LIVE and it cannot be moved or changed by default. Tapping it launches a video content interface in landscape orientation. Volume keys and the power switch sit on the right side of the device, while the SIM tray is in the upper-left corner.

As I intimated above, LeEco has done its best to minimise the footprint here. The horizontal edge-to-edge nature of the screen makes it easier to reach a thumb across the device.

Perhaps LeEco could have shaved a couple of millimetres above and below the display, too. Even on the full brightness setting, the display appears a little dull. By submitting your details, you will also receive emails from Time Inc.

UK, publisher of Trusted Reviews and other iconic brands about its goods and services, and those of its carefully selected third parties. That being said, the viewing angles were sufficient.

I experienced no issues viewing the display while it lay flat on the desk, either side of our computer, and while watching video propped up in landscape mode. On full brightness it was still relatively visible in bright sunlight.

The LeEco Pro 3 runs Android 6. A swipe to the right brings up a selection of curated video content from LeView. Trouble is, good content through the in-beta EcoPass is a little thin on the ground right now.

This also replaces LeView with Google Now on the farthest left screen. The Le Pro3’s powerful front and rear cameras let you freeze life’s finer moments. Aspiring filmmakers will love the 4K UHD video capture and upscale effects, including slow-motion.

The EcoPass includes the entertainment content, LeCloud services, warranty, and discounts. LeEco provides a LeCloud sync service, similar to what Samsung and Apple provide, where you can sync and backup contacts, messaging, gallery, notes, and more.

The service also includes backup support and the ability to find your device. I haven’t built up a level of trust with LeEco yet so do not have these enabled on my test device. There is also an annoying home screen panel on the left called LeView that provides links to videos under different categories.

I’m not sure how the content is selected and what it takes to become a source, but there are no customization options for the Le Pro3 users. If you pinch on the home screen you can easily toggle the LeView panel off.

While I’m not happy with the LeEco launcher and home screen panels, it was easy enough to download and install the Google Now launcher and set it as the default. Tapping on the left capacitive button pops up the task switcher screen with thumbnails of running apps found on the lower third of the display.

The amount of RAM being used is also visible under these thumbnails. Above this are various quick controls and a media player interface. You can customize the order of all of these various icons and even swipe from right to left to scroll through them all.

I find these very handy to have and like this part of the user interface. All of these icons above the task switcher are labeled the control center. You can toggle the control center to function while the lock screen is on too so simply pressing the left control center capacitive button gives you quick access to apps and settings.

You have full control over the notification shade with options to toggle on or off specific app notifications, set importance, and customize the notification. There are also a vast number of settings that let you customize your experience just how you like.

There’s no stopping China in the smartphone war. It’s only been a few days with the LeEco Le Pro3, but even one day was enough to convince me I couldn’t justify spending double the price for an Android flagship.

I’ve ordered and cancelled the Google Pixel three times now and currently do not have one on order. Many of us have voiced our opinion that manufacturers should be willing to give up a bit of thickness for more battery capacity and it seems LeEco may be one of the first to provide what we’ve been asking for.

It is still a fairly thin device at 7. I can easily go for a full day of very heavy usage and still have battery capacity left over to go most of the next day. With moderate usage, a couple of days is achievable with the Le Pro3.

I’ve taken a few comparison photos, check out the full resolution samples in my Flickr album, and the camera performs fine. It’s not going to challenge the iPhone 7, Galaxy S7, or Google Pixel, but it should meet the needs for most people that share pictures on social networks.

I am not a fan of the permanent Live app button along the bottom of the home screen panel, but like the task switcher button results that show customizable quick controls with the active app thumbnails.

There are plenty of available settings to customize the phone, more than most devices and I appreciate having such control over the device. If long battery life is important to you, then it’s tough not to consider the Le Pro3.
