Archive View Return to standard view. Does anyone else think the display on this screen is super bad, the displays colours are way to cool blue and seem to be over sharpening images in video. By taping again, the table sorts again. Not only this memory scandal, but also non existing anti grease coating. Just came back from a shopping centre in Perth metro. Surprisingly i tried the 10 plus and it is only few mm large than my nexus 5, definetely taller, but in terms of “one hand use” not as bad as i thought. Huawei Ascend P7 Mini Forum.

If you’re happy to go without a protector get some oleophobic coating off eBay and apply it yourself. I did that and have no issues. Pretty happy with the results. No phone or any coating can prevent grease or fingerprints from happening but this is better than it was.

If the discount was only for the p10, it might be my deciding factor in going it over the lg g6. Not as far as i know. Of course it’d just be Lineage, or a variation of anyway so not stock. Why would you want to change?

The settings are easy to navigate, and the notifications and quick toggles are inoffensive. Wish they hadn’t nerfed Trusted Places geofencing though.

Would be good to disable screen lock when on known wifi. Having said that, fingerprint recognition is pretty freakin fast so not missing that much I guess: Is the firmware finder app you posted about previously still functioning?

I read that Huawei removed firmware downloads from its website a few weeks ago, which made me wonder if the app will be impacted. For those who purchased their devices outright from overseas, what security patch do you currently have?

I’m surprised there isn’t a thread on the Honor 9, which is based on the P It caught my eye and it’s cheaper. I find it superior in the sense it doesn’t do random things that can’t be fixed.

For example last time i had a Xiaomi i couldn’t use Google Messages to send sms or mms, so had to use something else. I often came across things like this in MIUI that i couldn’t get to the bottom of Maybe it’s better now i’m not sure, but i wouldn’t risk the cash on the device to find out.

Not sure about the Firmware finder app. I got my wife a P10 and hers updated to the latest build within a few days of use, and mine followed shortly after so i ditched the app and have just left it.

It’s currently on an August build, which has the July patch on it. From what i’ve seen on the XDA forums some people are having issues with builds not being seen or the app not working properly — but it seems the app just needs an update perhaps??

I’ve been surprised by the lack of Honor love but i think it may come down to the limited availability of the appropriate models for Aus usage. I’ve yet to see an online retailer sell anything other than the chinese variants which have limited LTE usage over here so i reckon that would affect its popularity somewhat.

The only band it’s missing is band The advantage of the Honor over the P10 is that it has hardware navigation keys, so you don’t lose screen real estate. I wouldn’t want to use the home key for all navigation.

Also, the Honor has an oleophobic coating. The Grey is actually darker than what the pics represent. Light grey would of been awesome, but that’s only available for the plus I think.

Love the honor phone though! If not, I might look at a P10 ps2. For the Honor 9 the chinese variant also lacks B7, and likely comes with a tonne of bloat. Don’t know any to be honest.

I was hoping to see the zenfone 4 in AU soon but i can only get the 4 non pro from kogan and dont know if want to. So an alternative is the p10 plus or again the p10 standard from kogan.

Could you tell me what are the chances to have a p10 without the oleophobic coating and with the cheaper memories?? Or if with the latest batches huawei has fixed this issues?? If you’re replacing a N5 then just get the regular P10 and not the plus, just nicer for single handed use.

Did they add the coating to newer batches? Was leaving it off an error or did they start adding it following complaints? Apparently they left it out on purpose due to ‘compatibility issues’ or something BS like that.

They then magically fixed the problem after everybody said wtf The seller claims they sent it on the weekend but the tracking number still isn’t working. I see a PayPal dispute brewing. A tip — never go with an unknown seller Giztop to save a few dollars.

My usual guy on eBay would’ve had it to me in three days. Surprisingly i tried the 10 plus and it is only few mm large than my nexus 5, definetely taller, but in terms of “one hand use” not as bad as i thought.

But iam still unsure if I am better off staying with the smaller model or going for the plus. And i dont know what version kogan sells This is detailed in their specs — the P10 i looked at just now was an L29 which is the one you’d want for here or the L I had a look at both optus and Vodafone website on Vodafone one can’t see the p10 at all on the optus one can’t see on outright price.

Am I blind or is it not available anymore outright? Try to chat with a girl but she was hopeless lol Might pop in store tomorrow. Just came back from a shopping centre in Perth metro.

Optus does not sell phones outright anymore That is no longer showing on Ebay Mobilecity site anymore either, it seems the retailers are putting the price of the P10 “UP” instead of down, so I can only guess it is because in days time they are releasing a new model, and it is expected to be pretty expensive, so maybe they are “following the prices up” with the P10?

If so, they might lose me as a customer.. I was about to buy a P Ended up getting p10 plus. HN store where a friend of a friend works had no stock Let’s hope memory is the good one and the coating on the screen is good as well.

I received my Honor 9 yesterday. Like the P10, 4K video uses the H. In VLC, it would freeze every couple of seconds. Also, I found that the bokeh effect didn’t work as well as on my Mi6.

Is it best to use the wide aperture toggle rather than just the portrait toggle? I haven’t used a PC for years but maybe try Handbrake to convert, i think it supports H. I use it on Mac for video conversions.

Probably stick with the wide aperture rather than portrait. The portrait will be a fixed aperture and may not suit all scenes, whereas the wide aperture is adjustable. Also on the P10, portrait includes a beauty filter which smooths over skin so may have unwanted effects elsewhere.

The Honor 9 may differ though as i know Huawei’s camera apps differ from device to device, but on the whole the wide aperture mode will vary from scene to scene as the software has to interpret what it sees as non-primary objects.

Yes, I realised this morning that it’s set to medium by default, which explains why my daughters don’t look quite right in the shots I took last night. I was thinking that my Mi6 took better photos, but I’ll have to redo the shots and use the wide aperture mode instead.

Is there a need to manually adjust the aperture each time, or should the default suffice for a bokeh effect? You’ll figure out how heavy you like it applied in what scenario.

If i’m not after perfection or if i’m short on time the default will do, otherwise i’ll turn it down a bit. I’ve found the shots on the P10 are generally very very good, it has some quirks like any other device but i’ve found little cause for complait so far really.

I just tried watching 4k video on my mac and i get stuttering too — i guess it’s just not as widely supported yet One Optus down the road from me does not sell outright, but if i go to the next closest they will do it.

Download potplayer new version of the discontinued and mighty kmplayer It plays h with no problems. Depends on the store. Each one is different because they’re all franchised. Anyqay my p10 plus has got the good memories..

In terms of screen size But I still reckon I should have sticked to the p10 non plus One is Australian stock with Manufacturers warranty. Not sure of the bands used by both.. Alaways only ever had a Samsung or iPhone and looking to swap out my iPhone 7 and go back to Android.

Thanks for the heads up.. Plan only over two years, with 7 gig a month. Could someone help me please. I am buggered if I can find anyone who has the P10 Plus on a monthly plan in Australia???

I thought I found it on dodo but I cant find it anymore? Virgin and others do the P10 but I can find no monthly plan with a P10 plus?? Can i trust DWI?

I see lots using it but it seems dangerous, kind of to good to be true. I haven’t purchased from them in the last year or so. But since about myself and a friend have bought about cameras from them and never had an issue.

Overall I’d say that I would buy from them again at some point in the future without too much hesitation. But that’s just my experience. DWI are completely safe.

That’s not to say somebody hasn’t had a bad experience at some point, but they’re reliable and quick. Fairly sure Gold could only be had through Virgin Mobile stores. They’re readily available as imports though.

Anybody have better luck? Is this phone still good value? What I like about it is that it supports all Telstra bands, not too big etc. Dual sim is added bonus.

I just searched and the dual sim version is available from shop. It’s a good phone still, mine’s trucking along nicely. Not on Oreo yet though so if that’s important then maybe look elsewhere.

Only downside of buying from DWI or like will be warranty hassles should anything happen. Amaysim won’t be any different in this regard — as they’re importing the stock it’ll still have to be sent overseas for assessment etc.

You just have to weigh up how much this loss in service means to you. It is showing in firmware finder on mine too Vodafone P10 rebranded to VTR-L29C it’s showing as compatible, will download and see how it goes Now on the Jan security patch running Android 7.

Duped, the P10 Plus is a terrific phone. It feels so compact and light for its display size, and its fast and smooth in use. I’ve been reading that you can covert these phones into dual sim with firmware Can anyone recommend a reliable outlet?

The DWI and eGlobal are two obvious choices but there are so many horror stories about them on the internet. Sold out on Kogan here https: There are these stories about most resellers on the internet I bought my wife’s P10 from eGlobal — no problems.

When you ordered the P10 from eGlobal, do you remember how long it took to get the phone in your hands? I have just ordered one yesterday and the emails says “Please refer to the suggested stock level for estimated dispatch time frame on product page”.

I can’t find any suggested stock level on the product page. Meanwhile, please bear with us while we fulfill your order as quickly as possible. So it confirms my suspicion that they don’t usually hold any stock and there was no such indication on the product page.

Anyway, let’s see how long it takes for them to acquire and then forward. My gut feeling is that 3 — 5 days they mentioned are over ambitious. Archive View Return to standard view. Yes it will support our bands.

The two SIM card slots can be Main card or secondary card. I think early April by the time our Telcos get it together. Honestly speaking, the honor 8 is far more attractive than this.

Whats with the iphone-look? Samsung S8 looks much better and meet the spec that I would want in a phone I think there will be a considerable price difference. I see LG went Telstra exclusive so that’ll help this a bit.

Nice to have feature though. Considering how much a good laptop costs its getting unreasonable. Very solid DxoMark score. Waiting to see if any attractive offer from telcos. Getting some bonus end of this month.

Don’t know what the deal with this is. WTF, and here I am thinking of getting the P10 plus! Those prices are a poor joke Not much to differentiate between those models and the P Paypal being offered helps with the legitimacy of the website.

Pulled the trigger on the Woolworths deal for S8. As a result it looks tall — not a fan P10 has benched really well according to AusDroid so I’m not sure what tangible difference the S8’s new Snapdragon will bring to photography, email, YouTube and social media: Like I said a couple of weeks ago, Huawei is done lol.

Unlocked models should get updates from Huawei, so yes you will. I saw some too Shame really, comparison photos from the P10 look better. Try bexectech Is this some sort of joke?

Will post back once it arrives, and i get a chance to play with it a bit! Got my P10 plus from Singapore via an ebay sale, so far been impressed as it’s very fast to use. Only issue is I can’t get certain google services to work including Play store ‘only issue’ What if you just need to install WhatsApp?

I still rather bexectech as I always was about to put through all my price protection claims successfully Is that with the coles credit card protection? From the reviews I have seen.

What if you just need to install WhatsApp Get it via apk mirror or an alternative method. Get it via apk mirror or an alternative method. Why not flash another stock ROM? Can’t find any at the moment and I’m in no rush, still using the S7E.

Hello guys, can suggest good tempered glass and casing for P10 plus? April Does this mean that it is not released yet? Huawei have really dropped the ball It’s shame to me who still uses P8, feel this urge to throw this phone out and use something else.

Having used one for a few weeks, I have to say that I agree! Have you had success with it at all? I went to JB in World Square and even they had no idea when they were coming in. Hey guys, this is for anyone interested in the camera abilities of the P10!

Thanks, and you’re welcome! Hope you enjoy using it as much as I am! Got my P10, loving it so far. Here are the stats from my P10 Plus au version Sequential read — Harvey Norman has the P At least the Launceston store does.

Its like the back of the phone is a oil absorber. There’s always the Huawei P9 if you want it as that had no physical home button. I’m interested in this phone except for reading about the ‘staggeringly awful’ pressure sensitive home button You can disable it.

Got my P10 last week and absolutely love it! Such a beautiful phone: How is everyone going with their P10’s? Do only specific versions have Band28? In terms of day to day tasks and system fluidity Compared to my S7E, I’m surprised at how fast this thing goes too!

Changelog This update adds moving picture and optimises system stability. Whats New Adds moving picture, enabling you to take dynamic photos in standard mode. Optimisations Optimises camera for more natural colours Optimises power consumption for longer use Improves device security with Google security patches The moving picture mode is essentially apple’s Live Photos or whatever they call it.

Also, what security patch date are these phones up to? Here is the info for my imported L29 running the global rom. Thanks for that 3xfn Is there a chance the phone will get 7. Are Huawei normally this far behind on security patches?

I would like a new phone to be a bit more up to date than that. Cheers for the pics too Dean. This is what worked for me: Remove proxy after installing I tried this just now and the install worked fine, and i’m now on a May build rather than the March one i was on.

The navigation buttons will disappear and free up space. Didn’t notice the question was for the plus, but I’m guessing it would be the same with the P I’m really wanting the P10 now, i just have a few more questions.

The Pixel will be superceded in a matter of months for starters Hope that was all helpful. And check out the new pics I added to the gallery: Are DWI trust worthy? Will this work with Telstra 4g?

Just wondering if anyone has gone from the oneplus 3t to the p10? I’m enjoying the 3t, but wouldn’t mind going back to a smaller screen. I’m hearing the p10 is pretty snappy. The reviews seem pretty positive.

Impressive camera by the looks of things. Also my default is not After the event it may be though using the AndroBench benchmark. Still loving everything about this phone besides one aspect.

Has anyone downloaded the B yet with firmware finder? I have been offered this phone as a replacement to my returned Nexus 6P. How are you finding the battery life?

I am tossing up between a p10 and a g6. Nice man, I have heard some iffy things about the battery. Also come with ddr3 or ddr4 RAM. Is there a certain model to look out for or is it pot luck?

I would say no, it’s not dramatically better. In daylight, images are almost indistinguishable. It may benefit slightly in lowlight, but from the reviews I’ve seen, there’s not much in it But some reviewers state that highlights can blow out a little more.

I guess it all depends on shot to shot I can’t answer this as I have a silver model that’s not sold in Australia. I think the charcoal is sandblasted I could be wrong though. Maybe check out Virgin Mobile?

Mainly in Auto modes. I do go into Pro when I just cant quite get the shot I want in auto though. It is a relatively fast shutter Most of my sample shots are in auto mode. Battery life is about average i’d say I think android 7.

Minimum brightness gets very low DWI are good — where i got my Oneplus from. It’s worth paying for premium shipping with insurance though — as the free shipping option will be slower than the DHL of premium which usually takes only a few days.

I couldn’t say which phone is faster but the P10 is plenty snappy enough, and as snappy as any phone needs to be. There are comparison videos on youtube where it beats most other phones, including the S8, for app launching etc If anybody said this phone wasn’t fast enough i don’t think they’d ever be happy with any device You reckon you can use the phone naked or it needs a case or skin like the bar of soap the oneplus 3t is?

I only ever use the phones naked — why buy a nice phone to throw behind an ugly case The smaller size does make it easier to handle though, and i’ve gone back to texting with one hand.

I just go into the developer options and change the value of “smallest width” setting. Is this doing the same thing? I replaced the stock screen protector on my P10 plus today with a Zuslab tempered glass one I got off ebay.

It’s a little smaller than the stock one but not to the point where it’s a problem. The best part though is this one is oleophobic and your fingers seem to glide easier too. The low light photos are absolute rubbish!

Over the weekend I compared the camera and picture quality of my wifes P9 against my P10 and I couldn’t believe that her P9 was producing far nicer shots in low lit areas. The same quality was also apparent with video footage.

I’m not a pro camera person, I just like having a point and shoot function that produces good quality photos, which the P10 does brilliantly with a well lit environment.

I hope there is a fix coming or something that will tidy up the darker shots when the P9 seems to do a much better job. Think i’ve finally landed on the P10 Plus as my upgrade from my Nexus 5X which is having significant battery issues.

I had a play with the phone while in Singapore and it felt good, looks good, and all the specs are what I want. Anyone seen a better deal recently? How long did you use the factory screen protector before applying the Zuslab glass?

I had my phone for about two months. The stock protector was still intact without any scratches or anything like that. It really showed up finger prints though.

Now that I’ve had the glass one on for about a week I’ve noticed that the last fraction of a millimetre on some parts of the edge don’t stay down. I think this could be because the screen is at the point where it is starting to curve.

Apart from that it’s ok. Good enough for me to not want to remove it anyway. Whatsapp Web not working: The problem seems to stem from the QR scan within the Whatsapp App. Due to this distortion, the scan is not registering.

I have factory reset twice and reinstalled Whatsapp but the problems remain. Other QR scan apps do not have this distortion. Has anyone experienced or know of a fixed? No, showing as ‘not approved for installation’ — whatever that means.

Has anyone actually received an OTA on their P10 the old fashioned way? Haven’t tried this yet but am downloading a full OTA package to try it out. Reverted back to the Firmware Finder to get to B My wife uses a Moto G 3rd gen and has been jealous of the photos i’d been taking recently so i secretly purchased her a P10 from DWI via eBay.

Ordered Sunday arvo, received Wednesday lunchtime Needless to say she was stoked.. This thing is beautiful: I’m guessing it’s not possible from the few threads I’ve found online but if anyone has any suggestions Nb, running totally stock ROM, unrooted.

I’m running Nova Prime Launcher. I tried to get the weather to work on the Google search bar via the “Lab menu” of Nova but that crashes Nova every time. I gave up in the end and decided to install Transparent Clock Weather instead.

It looks great, various widgets, lots of customisation available, including 4 different weather providers to choose from BOM is not one of them unfortunately.

I chose Weather Underground as the provider and it seems to be within a degree or two of BOM, the condition description and forecasts are also reasonably accurate. Would this mean you could make calls just on WIFI even if you were outside of Australia just as you would here without any extra roaming?

No, I believe this would only work within Australia, and would allow you to make calls in mobile dead spots. I may ask for a cash refund though, however how do you guys like the phone, there seems to be quite a few positive comments here.

The only thing I wasn’t sure about was the stock launcher so I just loaded up Nova Prime which I was using before too. Have not noticed any issues except SMS sent via “Ok Google” don’t show in the messages app but I reckon this is a problem with the Google app rather than the phone.

Everything else I love! I have heard some iffy things about the battery. The G6 looks better battery wise from what I have read. However the biggest sticking point for me ATM is size. If the G6 was smaller, I would go with it straight away.

The P10 is a prefect size. I am coming from a z5c. Somebody posted above that one of the recent OTA updates made significant improvements to the battery life. I can’t comment on the G6 as I haven’t used it or taken the time to read anything about it.

I’m tempted to jump to a p10 from my oneplus 3t, but this talk about Huawei releasing 2 different internal speeds has me worried. It’s all one model. They claimed when it was first discovered that they were having issues getting stock of the regular components, so they just used whatever components they could get all under the same model P I’m not sure if they’re still doing it now though.

Besides, if you didn’t know would you actually notice? I get similar if not slightly better battery life, and i don’t have re-arrange the phone in my pocket every time i sit down, and can now get back to using a device with a single hand rather than clowning around with two like i’m a geriatric using a smartphone for the 1st time.

The only thing i’m not a fan of is the single button nav but of course that can be switched off.. Yeah real world use, you’d probably wouldn’t even notice. I do really miss the size of my old 5X.

I used to have an RN3. I’m with Telstra and remember reading another post on here saying the L29 will be fine with Telstra. Does anyone else think the display on this screen is super bad, the displays colours are way to cool blue and seem to be over sharpening images in video.

Also the screen seems to have this diagonal line look to it that makes it not very enjoyable to watch anything on it. I can see it easily at arm lengths. Do you think the battery lifespan for P10 gonna last 3yrs for a heavy gamer?

Is there any difference between the international version and local version? Waiting for it to ship. Still tossing up between at the g6. The size of the lg g6 is the only thing putting me off it and has me coming back to the p Just a quick question for those that have been using the P10 long term..

It’s interesting that those who say this feature is poor clearly haven’t used it long enough to feel comfortable. I just thought i’d pose this question as I tried on screen nav again tonight There’s no right or wrong way I’m using the nav button.

Loving not having on-screen nav buttons to maximise usable screen space. A rep at Westfield Airport West told me about it. The article below also confirms it so I reckon its nationwide.

I haven’t taken a 4k video since last month They only playback at p because i am set to backup at high quality rather than full. Is this in anticipation for the upcoming iPhones shooting h. I don’t own a P10, but I think a single button implementation like the P10 has is good if you can get used to it.

It does depend on your preferred phone size though and whether you mainly use the phone one handed or two. Below screen buttons add height to the area you need to reach, which could mean some people can’t reach the top of the screen comfortably without using two hands or adjusting their grip.

This is a personal pet peeve of mine, so personally I think my next phone will have on screen buttons coupled with a Samsung have jumped the shark with this move IMO. Their mid-large screen phones with buttons below the screen were bad enough, with an Look at phones like the LG G3, Nexus 6 etc.

Pretty small bezels on a larger screen with on screen buttons. While slightly too big for me, they are far better to use than phones with similar screen sizes and buttons below the screen or overly tall screens.

After setting it up, first impressions are good. Happy to be back on a 5. I am tossing up between the p10 and lg g6. Coming from a z5 compact I am worried the g6 will be too big however the screen real estate and everything is really impressive and better then the p10’s.

The pre-installed ones aren’t very good at that — my wife’s got scratches within the 1st few days also. I took mine off after a while, as it was fairly smudgey and increased touch latency — which normally i’m not fussy about like some people but it was fairly frustrating.

By taping again, the table sorts again. I understand that phones made for different markets may have differing SAR values. The SAR of Note 3 is mentioned in the table, it is just 0. It is one of the lowest of the market.

The other device is not described very well and I cannot understand which one it is. Very nice and useful info. You should put the SAR readings of all the Chinese clone cellphones. This so we know what we buy.

So there is no SAR value for them. Even for brands like oppo and xiaomi? Here are some examples: Thanks for the table. You can add the smartphones from Bq, like the Aquaris5.

Added to the table! Thanks for joining the club! Thank you in advance. Thanks for being a member! I am not sure it has passed the test in the US. Thank for being a member. The SAR on head is on the list and on the body is 0.

The device has a standard memory slot such as an SD or micro SD card slot so that you can either extend the internal storage with affordable memory modules or you can retrieve data, such as photographs, easily from a memory card.

Damage resistant glass such as Corning Gorilla Glass or Asahi Dragontrail Glass is thin and lightweight, and can withstand high levels of force. The device has a display with three full subpixels per pixel, resulting in a sharp and crisp picture.

This can result in a less crisp, slightly blurred image. The battery is removable and can be replaced by the user if broken. Devices with stereo speakers deliver sound that surrounds the user from left and right side, creating a richer sound and a better experience.

Apple iPhone 8 Plus: It can transfer files, music, photos via USB, no need to install additional software. Panasonic Eluga Ray The manufacturer offers a branded wireless charging kit.

The article below also confirms it so I reckon its nationwide. Loving not having on-screen nav buttons to maximise usable screen space. Remove proxy after installing I tried this just now and the install worked fine, and i’m now on a May build rather than the March one i was on. My L29 model is on a March security level, however other L29 owners internationally are up to date on a more recent build. Besucher kamen mit folgenden Begriffen auf die Seite:

Thanks for that 3xfn Is there a chance the phone will get 7. In diesen Tagen dreht sich alles um den Valentinstag! No confirmed info regarding specs either, but still a big debate on where the fingerprint scanner is to be located, with various websites saying the front home bottom, while others saying at the back as per the P

LG Optimus L9 P Just heard p10 got caught of using parts of inferior spec in some models. Pretty happy with the results. I definitely need one before July, as it will be my camera when on holidays.
