Hi, my nexus 7, in order to start charging, I have to disconnect the battery for a a few minutes and connect it again. After charge it works perfect. Is this sign that the battery is gone??

Anyone facing same problem and any suggestions? Iv tried holding down the power button for 30 seconds iv also tried it whilst holding down each end of the volume button no luck.

Iv just tried both again whilst charging no luck. Its been like this for two days first day just the coloured dots where it would normally switch on then later went to saying google nothing since.

Don’t buy an apple. You can’t use it without setting up an account, plus all the other things that make Apple products a pain to use, including being overpriced.

I haven’t used my nexus 7 for years and it’s only now that I started charging it but it doesn’t come on and I’ve tried several times. I tried to do hard reset but the screen always glitches and does nothing else.

How do I fix this? February 5 by April may. Nothing suggested here worked. After the kitkat update Nexus 7 became very slow and now stopped working. My other tablet, a Huawei ideos too stopped working.

Now can only read on my phone. June 14 by rakrishna Removed and reinserted the battery, as advised, and it’s finally charging again!! Thank you so much! June 19 by cnair My Nexus 7 2nd gen, is the best tablet I have owned so far.

However and I just gambled 24 bucks. The charge port was the original problem. We attempted to solder in a new one, but it seemed to still not work. So we ordered a new battery put that in and it came to life.

Then it worked fine, but still a[[eared tp have issues with that charging port and now I soldered it more, and now charge port just quit. So all points to that board. Left it a day and Woo Hoo it turns on and works, and gave me 14 hours of use etc.

November 16 by Kenneth Bouchard. Show 18 more comments. Instead of pulling the battery, hold down the power button for 30 seconds straight. This process fixed a Nexus 7 that refused to turn on or charge.

Just thought I would thank you all as I managed to get my Nexus 7 to but up again by finding the original charger and then holding the power button down for 30 seconds.

I’v been charging and holding the power button, but nothing until I read this. It started after holding the power button down about 20 full seconds. BUT it also showed a message that popped up so fast I missed it Thank you – Thank you.

Holding the power button down for 30 seconds just worked for me also. Thanks so much for the help! Thank you so much i had held it down for 30 a full seconds and it worked and it turned on but mine did not pop up a message.

But anyway thanks you so muches. Many thanks, your answer is still working 2 years later. My daily newspaper is delivered on this so it really is an essential item.

I thought my tablet was dead until I read this. Holding power button down for 30 seconds works! And yes about seconds it starts to come on. Thank you, this work for me too.

I should have look this be before taking the back off. I thought it might have been the power connector. Very strange that there was no sign it was charging. Again thanks for a simple solution to this problem.

I thought I would have to hit volume and power button I’ve had to open another Nexus 7 and add a new port Not as hard as one would think! But after I fixed it husband dropped it and now it has a cracked screen Thanks for your simple solution!

I was so desperate! WOW, it worked for me! Thank you again for the posting! I have managed to get my tablet on but now I have the green android thing and it says erasing and won’t don’t anything.

Getting ready for a trip to Disney World – my daughter would have freaked! Holding down for 30 seconds worked wonders!!! I was suspecting battery and thinking of replacing it. But by your tip, I could get back my Nexus working again.

FULL 30 seconds is the key. One might see a message or battery icon before 30 seconds but still hold for 30 seconds and it will fix it. It thought it was the end of my Nexus It is fully charged while before it would not do anything.

Thanks I let someone use my tablet and it would not turn on I was afraid there was a problem and I needed a new one. I had to keep the power button pressed for about 40 seconds in total, but it worked to bring a seemingly dead tablet back to life.

It did not work, but worked when I plugged out and in again loader socket and same time holded power button pressed This is my answered found it else where for this you need the charger and a PC make sure it’s a charging whether is a blinking screen and flashing on off or not, try not to move it our of that position as I know Android are very rich sensitivity in there chargers, are you still with me?

Ok now unplug replug at same time the very same time you plug is in press volume down power simultaneously, do this say was the amount I had to try doing this, get the rhythm is not that sound so keep trying it works, and the digging symbol changing will pop on your luck screen its like a dog dam casino game.

So after almost three years having my nexus disassembled in its box it was really just bunch of parts, I can finally use it more than just sniffing meth from the screen: I have had this for over 1 to 2 years without doing anything with it.

Where do you even turn it on. There is a spot on it that may be the power button. Thanks so much, was having a slight melt down but all is calm again. Turned back on and working fine.

I have a multi-charger with smart hubsthat adjust, as needed. If I accidentally charge on one o he phone hubs, he tablet won’ boot up. When I use the smart hub, the Nexus charges and boots. We also have an original Nexus charger, which also allows he tablet to charge n then and boot.

Spent a few hours researching stuff, including those provided by Google, but nothing fixed my ‘dead’ Nexus until I pulled the battery. Two minutes later it’s up and running again! January 22 by Phil Tester.

July 18 by Megan Tickle. October 14 by Thomas Glista. Show 63 more comments. My Nexus 7 wouldn’t boot, no matter what combination buttons I pushed.. After letting it set for 2 weeks out of frustration, I opened it with one of your handy dandy plastic opening tools, unplugged the battery for about 2 minutes, reattached the battery and closed the device back up.

Opening the device up is very easy and this is definately worth a try My theory, is that the Nexus never would really turn off, so unplugging allowed the OS to reset I didn’t use my nexus 7 for months.

Despite having it on the OEM charger for days it wouldn’t turn on. I did the battery disconnection as described above, left it disconnected for a few minutes and then reconnected.

Thanks for the tip jardineromi. I have tried everything and my Nexus 7 tablet still won’t charge or turn on. Take it apart as mentioned in this guide, disconnecting and reconnecting the battery should resolve the issue.

My device froze while using YouTube. I had to hard shutdown the device, it hasn’t turned on since. I am using the original chord, my computer also recognizes a device is plugged in if I use the USB attachment, but I get a message that Windows does not recognize device Is there any hope?

Or is it toast? How do you get to the battery. I have tried the 30 second thing, but it still won’t turn on so i would like to try taking the battery out, but i cant get the back off. I was getting flickery white lines on a black screen when trying to boot.

Pulled it out clicked it back in, booted right up. The youtube vid that showed us how to open it said both his kids were like this too and he had to fix them.

Can the back be taken off of Nexus 7 thinner model? I can see how the back comes off my older Nexus but not the new one. It worked for me, too, but I had to repeat the process 3 times.

While holding the power button down for 30 sec, the white letters “Google” would pop up, but that’s the screen I was formerly stuck on. No colored booting up formations.

I didn’t have to crack open the back, thankfully, but that was next on my hit list. A quality unit would have no need for all of this. Mine went dead after 90 days and no amount of abra-cadabra will bring it back.

February 10 by Dragos Sabin. I have used usb from laptop and finally it charged. Thanks for the earlier reply. July 11 by Ridhwan Aman. I already watched videos on how to fix loose port on battery..

August 14 by juriemae Zelev. Show 10 more comments. After much procrastination, I returned to get the Nexus 7 charger that came with the unit. My brother had told me he was using a phone charger.

My initial assumption was that using the phone charger would not have been an issue. Anyway I charged the unit for 30 minutes with the unit’s charger and held the button for 30 seconds.

The Nexus booted up and I have since returned it to its home. Now was it the charger, or was it the cable.. My charger had a fixed cable, so I will probably never know.

I replaced the battery and the unit must have scrambled, with the same symptoms as dead.. Holding the button for 30 secs cured it!! On the left side is a rectangular flat object with a few wires coming out of the top right that plug into the board, on the opposite side of the power button.

That is the battery.

Hold the power button longer. It should eventually turn off. The power button on mine needs to be pressed firmly or the screen won’t turn on. Did you try charging it through the wall with standard cable?

Possible you didn’t have the coils lined up and it just got super drained. Just got mine yesterday set it up charged ovenite and can’t turn it on. Just gets to X screen and boot loops. Used wall charger that cam with it.

Sucks bulls nipples this does. Post Reply Subscribe to Thread. I had to watch a tutorial on You Tube for that. I then tried plugging in to wall with adapter but no luck I thought that my Nexus was bricked.

All I did was remove the battery for about a minute then connected it back to its original spot and it worked like a charm. Thank you very, very much. I was already convincing myself that I need to buy a new one until I read this.

One of them as my kinds were using-falling a lot started not to charge the battery all the time and the connector seems loose when plugged. I sent to service and the guys there told me that the mother board is damaged and need replacement.

I cross connect the bateries and the broken Nexus turn on, but doesnt charge, but not vice versa. THe other one is chargiing the battery from broken one. I finally fixed my nexus 7. I brought it to the technician and when he opens it he found out that the pins of the charging port are somehow disconnected so he simply put it back again.

Now I don’t have a charging problem anymore! I found that the dock connector is the problem. I ordered one from aliexpress and wait for fixing the problem. Thanx for your usefull videos.

You need only one more thing, how to find out what part of the tablet is mailfunctioning. I was wondering my nexus 7 is not working I fully charge it and hold the button for 10 to 30 seconds still nothing.

Could it be that I have a flip cover that turns it off and on I kept on doing that close and open messing with it could that be the problem if I burnt out the display?

I had the same problem, dropped my nexus, wouldn’t turn on or charge and now it is working fine again. Hi, I just bought a nexus 7. And it was working for 1 day..

And thought to charge it over night. Then the next day when i try to open it using power button, it was not opening. I tried to press the power button and it got stuck in google logo.

And then i press power button and then the google logo went off. Now, its been 2 days and it has not turned on. I tried to plug in compter via USB. But it was showing qhsusb dload was not found.

Please let me know if my nexus is bricked. I am quite tense as I bought it from outside and its out of warranty. ALL try DU battery saver that well correct the Andriod wrong programming on battery charging and managing its life.

I disconnected battery and reconnected it. I think its problem internally.. I’m a great fan of motorola.. I opened my Nexus 7 for the first time brand new and it wouldn’t turn on even after charging overnight.

Initially the screen was flickering but that’s now stopped. I’ve tried the 10 second power hold, 30 second hold, 3 button hold, battery out and back in after 2 mins. I get no response out of it at all.

Even though it is still in warranty, Asus won’t fix it because I got it as a free gift when I bought a phone and they are required to see a receipt with VAT. I keep explaining to them that you don’t pay VAT on free gifts but they insist I contact the retailer, which I have done After trying all the options of pushing the buttons I opened the back of my Nexus with my nails, very easy, then I disconnected the tiny battery plug from its socket and pusheh it back in with my nail and voila!!!.

Have had problems with Gen 1 N7 failing mid surf as well as not turning on. Tried all the usual fixes non of which worked. Then tried disconnecting battery and reconnecting see examples how to do this on line.

A variant on switching of and on again. I leave it for a while, go and do something else then reconnect. Always seems to work. If all the other methods do not work it could be the obvious and often is.

The batteries on these units are known to be faulty and not just because of use but they have a PCB inside them like most batteries do these days. Something in that part is what I suspect stops the battery from accepting a charge.

Usually if all else fails a replacement battery will do the trick. You can find them here for a decent price. I got a few myself using “best offer” and they accepted at a very reasonable price.

Here is the link: Don’t assume always that because you don’t see anything it isn’t powered on. It could be but nothing on the display which could mean the LCD flex cable is loose or needs to be replaced.

IF it needs to be replaced you should be able to find them from the same seller on eBay. Maybe not the cheapest I’ve seen but fast shipping and everything I’ve purchased has included cameras etc and was packaged well and even the bootloader was unlocked which was a bonus to me.

It is most likely the PCB in the battery. It might work but you won’t know when it will die. I have seen the same thing before. This seller has good ones and this listing is for mAh version which is 55mAh more capacity than the mAh battery but most important is it fits better which means it won’t be able to come loose as easily.

Hi I have the same problem, I disconnected the battery that seemed to work, then it powered off again and wouldn’t turn on, I changed the battery with another which I know works didn’t come on.

I used the power and volume keys and got to the reboot screen where I reset the factory settings and it came on again fine, charged it all night now it won’t turn on again arrrgh!

Is it time to give up? I had replaced the ports AND the battery but it still wasn’t charging. New Yorkers stand up for what they believe in. And we’re asking you to stand up for repair.

I don’t have any sort of warranty or receipt since it was a present from work. Is it fucked or are there anymore options? If that doesn’t work, try the nexus 7’s version of the three fingered salute — hold Power, vol up, and vol down for 30 seconds, while plugged into AC power.

Worked twice for me on two different N7 tablets. Is this a stock rom? I had an issue with one custom kernel that bricked an n7 after I let the battery drain Was able to fix, but it wasn’t easy.

Also if this doesn’t work OP, you can use nexus root toolkit to factory reset in a few clicks. You can back up your data in most cases, too. This happened to me, first it was stuck in endless reboot then it wouldnt turn on even when plugged in and charged.

I did a quick google search and found a guide on how to reset back to factory settings. Basically just wiped it and flashed the origional OS back onto it.

Worked like a charm and the guide is super easy to follow. For the guide im talking about you needed to download like 2 files and type some commands into the command prompt. Dude, can I have this guide??

Hopefully that guide will workk. Damn, looks a little intense for an evening job. Maybe, I’ll give this a go tomorrow. Thanks though man, I appreciate it. From what I remember about the guide, one thing you need to instal is the adroid development toolkit.
