Value for money of the Yu Yureka S makes it a great choice at the moment. Android Home is the best worst thing that could happen to home automation”.

The main camera is 13MP and it supports gesture controls and face detection. The front is 5MP and it is enough but not ideal. Taking selfies or photos when the lighting is poor is simple and effective.

We were impressed with the visual effects on the device. The support of dual-SIM is useful, so is the slot for a memory card which can be used to extend the internal storage up to 32GB. The bottom line is that this device is sufficient in all aspects.

There are several other phones you can consider within this price range. Huawei, Motorola, LG, and a few other companies make some great Android phones with great specs. You could also consider buying older models since they tend to be cheaper.

A lot of them come with the Snapdragon processor and many of them also support LTE. They come with fingerprint sensors and sometimes you can also get a MicroSD card in a deal. Powerful and affordable smartphones are finally here and you have the honor to choose the best mobile under INR.

Till a few months back, if you wanted a great smartphone, with the latest features and impressive additions, you would have to buy iPhone or Samsung Galaxy S-series. Yes, both smartphones are perfect, but they cost more than a luxurious vacation.

Obviously, you believe that with high-end smartphones, you get superb quality. In order to meet the demands of users, Apple and Samsung, with their premium models are unable to reach full system compatibility.

For example, Samsung Galaxy S models, have weak displays. Even a low drop will break it. Then we have an app incompatibility which will a phone reach at some point. Manufacturers deliberately do this in order to force you to buy a new phone.

As such, eventually, all the apps will become unavailable for your device. Luckily, there are plenty of affordable smartphones. Time, when affordable meant cheap, is long gone. New models have almost the same, or even better features than top of the range devices and they look almost the same.

The base of each smartphone is the screen, so we will mention it first. It is far more than a simple feature, it is something that can make a complete difference between a great smartphone and useless brick device.

Most models come with displays between 4 and 5 inches. They are treated as a perfect fit unit, meaning that they can fit a pocket, but the device is still lightweight and practical.

The same goes for 4. Since, when we saw the first wave of them, we were able to get plenty of models with this screen size. The pixel density of ppi is also perfect.

For INR, you can expect smartphones between 4 and 5. The processing power of a smartphone is determined by its processor, obviously. A time when dual-core units were useful is long gone.

Nowadays, you should aim for quad-core or even better, octa-core processors. Both types are available within the price range. Snapdragon processors, or series are always a great choice. If you get a Snapdragon octa-core, you will definitely have a fast phone.

As the name suggests, quad-core has 4 cores, while octa-core has 8 of them. This type of power allows for the device to operate quickly and to work spotless under load. For instance, if you like playing new games, you will need this feature more than the rest.

Equally important is the RAM memory. Think of it as a mandatory addition to the processor. In this case, the more the merrier. RAM memory will determine how many apps you can run at the same time.

Keep in mind that when you exit from the app, it will stay active in the background, therefore this feature is more than just important. How much do you need? You can expect all the apps and games to work perfectly and regardless of your demands, smartphone will work perfectly under heavy use.

With 1GB versions, you may have some issues when running Skype, Viber and then want to play a game at the same time. The camera on a smartphone is more than just important.

Nowadays we have versions with 5, 8, 13, 21MP and etc. There are two things you should know when it comes to determining the quality of the camera on your new device. The best way is to take a few photos ideally when the light is low and see the differences.

It is more than just mandatory. Furthermore, front cameras are nowadays standard, but they are still a new feature. If you can get a model with a flash paired with the selfie camera, even better.

All types of data are constantly evolving. As a result, we need more and more space. The thing is in the data and files smartphones keep in their internal storage. From 8GB, you will probably have at your disposal GB.

Then we have the fact that a smartphone will constantly increase the size of the files it keeps, reducing the available space at the same time. There is a quick and easy alternative.

Extendable SD memory card works like a charm. Most devices support up to GB which will be more than all of us actually need. Yes, an SD card is an additional investment, but you can get it at any time you want.

Once a battery is drained out, all of the features are useless. Luckily, versions with mAh or even higher capacity do exist. Thanks to them, you can expect hours of talk time and up to 3 days of use.

Choosing between removable and non-removable battery is almost irrelevant. Basically, they offer the same thing, just non-removable devices look more compact and they are more expensive.

If you are looking for a waterproof device, make sure it has a non-removable battery. SIM locks are standard for most smartphones you buy via a carrier.

You may have heard of rooting, unlocking, custom ROM or some other way to unlock your device. Why should you avoid all of these alternatives? As you can see, the main choice should be a SIM-free device.

If you already use the same carrier as the phone is locked on, this is an irrelevant feature. Other than that, make sure to get a factory locked phone. All carriers will provide free SIM unlock once the contract expires, usually after 2 years.

Expect to get a device with nano-SIM. You can do lots of hacking with these Android apps, like WiFi Hacking with Android apps, hack websites usernames and passwords.

Samsung really sucks in that matter. They pulled that crap on all their devices but the Galaxy Nexus. Thanks for this very useful post. I have also tried with a couple of external storage devices and thumb drives but the USBManager always seems to return an empty list for connected devices.

Also, could you pls. Thanks a lot, works like a charm! Cool to hear that you were able to put everything to good use! Thanks for nice guide. Could you please port it to Arduino IDE code?

We are not using Studio, we are using Eclipse. Check out our first Tutorial in the Series to get started. Can anyone send the driver to me? BUT sending makes me real headache for quite a wile now!

Do I have to prepare the data somehow? I tried to send back the received data byte by byte but no luck and debugging between the Out-endpoint and the USB gateway is not possible. May be you have some hints for me for further investigation of my problem?

What could be a problem though, is that the gateway offers more than one set of Bulk Endpoints. PID what the endpoint numbers exactly are and then try to address them in the code directly.

In the code of the example we just take the first set of bulk endpoints, which might work for the IN endpoint, but probably the OUT ep is the wrong one. Also for easier debugging I recommend using a PC and to run some pyusb script.

Thanks for your reply. I have tried with your code as well as I have developed a very simple test program to check for and list attached USB devices but that is also not working.

I am struggling with this for a very long time. Thanks a lot in advance…. Somehow the Manifest file did not appear in my above post. Here is the Manifest file for my project. Thanks for your prompt reply.

Both these devices claim to support Android API So the code shoul;d work fine on these tablets right? Also, I have a question if as per your comment the USB Host API was stubbed out of these devices then how could my code compiled and runned without error on these?

Could you put some light to this? My guess is that some OEMs just lack the knowledge, manpower or the motivation to do the implementation of the Android Framework the right way.

Meanwhile I would liek to know is there any other way to check if the Android framework has been properly implemented on the device to support USB host API or not? Also, in case it is not properly implemented by the OEM is there any work-around to access USB devices programmatically?

We plan on using this in a quadcopter control system, where the Nexus sensors are used to stabilise the craft. Now we just need to write the control code: If so, keep in mind, that you cannot power the phone and use OTG at the same time, and power will be drawn more quickly than without USB attached.

I did have a few question though. And let it be powered by android if the phone has host mode enabled? Or should I use the ADK? And if I power my arduino from something else, do I still need the usb otg cable?

Thank you very much. For that you need to recompile your kernel and flash it onto your phone. If you run a custom ROM I am almost certain, that you will find a howto for kernel config.

Then, when OTG is activated on the kernel side, you should be able to attach a device via OTG converter and see it powered. If it is not powered, then you can still use a powered hub this is only a guess though.

Also if you are running 4. Is it possible doing the same thing in the Arduino IDE? Will your approach here work in this scenario to communicate between the phone and the peripheral?.

Would you be available for a short consulting work to advice our developers on how to make this work?. If so, please let me know, we greatly appreciate it. I have a RFID reader connected and trying to communicate with it from my android app.

I need to sent this command: I was trying to do something like this:. I see that you are doing a Bulk OUT transfer in your code. Should that not be a Interrupt OUT transfer? The second part of the code seems correct to me.

I have tried out this also: But this also seems to not working properly. Hi Manuel, i have tried developing a sample app to detect usb. Can you please help me out. I want to run PrintRun?

Pronterface is a 3D printer host software written in Python and available at https: Marlin is available at https: Hi Manuel, Thanks for the code. On linux I am able to communicate with board verified with lsusb, but when I connect with Android Tab 3.

Do I need to add driver in Android tab for that, if yes can you provide steps for that. Have you also installed the above firmware on the Arduino? That is, VID is 0x or as a decimal value.

The returned HashMap by mUsbManager. Can you check if the HashMap is empty? I am using Samsung Galaxy Tablet But not able to work with other usb devices. If I get chance to test it with another cheapest tab; I will update you, but it will takes some time.

If any body tried same way with other or Samsung Galaxy Tablet I am new to electronics or i would say a learner, but i have very good experience of software development.

If you need power, then you should go with the ADK. Thank you for the quick response, I am working on a prototype and i m sorry i can not share what the idea is but just wondering that while going for production we will have to embed this ADK in our devices, wont they become so expensive?

The ADK really seems to be the best option for you. I am sure you will find some example code for firmware as well as for the Android side software. For production you would have to include the micro controller into your own hardware design.

Can you help me out? PB5 is simply defined as 5. Kind of strange that it is not defined when compiling with the Arduino IDE though. I just tried with a Samsung galaxy ii T wit Cyanogenmod 10 and works nicelly.

I had to make a few changes to make it work without problems in the Arduino IDE. I tried to use this tutorial with my arduino duemilanove and my google nexus s with 4.

When I connect the arduino with my MAC it is recognized instantly. Am I doing anything wrong or I have to do anything more than this tutorial? I just use the UsbController. Thanks for the fast response.

I think that this is possible if I change the kernel. I will search about it. Hi Manuel, Thanks for such a detailed post. Using above application I expect to see any device be listed when I try to access it through an application.

Unfortunately not a single device can be found. Under Androidx86 and various real Android tablets, everything works fine with the exact same code, but the beagleboard never let me access USB devices.

I am using UsbManager class in order to enumerate the android devices connected to the same but I am unable to get the devices list. I checked logs, its UsbDevice. Is there anything i need to change in the init.

I am sorry that it seems not to work with the Beagleboard XM. Does the board get powered when you connect it? If you get an empty list of devices back then usually it means either the board is not enumerated, or the framework part of the UsbManager has not been implemented correctly.

However, we have devices with the ACM driver here as well and they seem to work. Please keep me posted on your development, since we always get requests in the comments about devices not enumerating empty list issue.

The board gets powered properly but unfortunately, the led is being very low-dimmed and moving the slider doesnt change anything, also, the enumerate-button doesnt do anything. Coincidentally I know what the problem is!

We had that too, but only sometimes. We did this for the mega, however you need to adjust the partno – p for the uno and I cannot find that one. Hope this gets you started though. I think you will find some on ebay.

Wow, awesome speed you got there! Was 99, and is now 0 Would you like this fuse to be changed back? I get something similar. Have you tried to use a powered hub? This should prevent the board from having brownout problems.

I checked again and I did not find any solution… it seems that the fuses are somehow locked … I bet it would work with an ISP. Hello Nice and helpful article. How do i know the board arduino or any other i have works as USB host or device?

Is there any other alternative way to communicate to a external USB host with out using ADk or Open accessory protocol from my android device. Suppose I have host device connected to my android which gives me room temp every 5 min.

The Arduino Due for instance enables you to connect as both Host or Device. You should check that one out. First of all, thank you Manuel for these helpful articles and for providing a platform for like minded people.

I want this board to be the main controller. It therefore needs to communicate with the USB stick. Inside the stick is a prolific chip with 3 endpoints. Is there anyone over here who got communications with this chip working.

If not, does anyone want to collaborate on implementing the soft driver for the chip? I bet you can get the profilic to work. What you need to do is to find out what setup commands it uses.

I think there is even a usb serial library that has that code snippet inside. If not, then you need to look through the kernel driver, there it is for sure.

I guess, one would have to modify the user-mode soft-driver logic to fir the FTDI serial protocol, right? I would like to know what exactly is the board arduino you used in the project.

But only for a specific product and vendor ID. I want to confirm that the above mentioned driver from the INDIServer project is indeed working great. Now I can finally start with the implementation of the rest of my z-wave server: Everything seems well but… I use a Huawei 3G modem with this tablet with no problems at all.

It means that it works as USB host properly. I have tried with an Arduino UNO rev. Please, could anyone with a C91 whether got this tablet working this issue?

I implemented it and everything went smooth, even on my Arduino Duemlanove. Thanks Manuel for your valuable helo,. Thanks for the post. Is it possible that this could work with a prolific usb-serial device?

Also how would uart fit into this? You would probably start by checking the kernel driver for those usb transfers or sniff them from your host machine you could even use wireshark.

Hello, I have a problem with the connection. I tried with Serial. Any suggestions for this problem? I will really appreciate your help. Thanks in advance Nikola. Are you able to grant your application permission for your Arduino?

Is it listed in your device list via UsbManager? For the purpose of troubleshooting I add this get method to your UsbController class: And added TextView to your main activity so I can read the listed devices on the phone, and it gets updated in the slide event listener.

Cyanogenmod will enable you to use it though almost for certain. That will be my last try. This application uses two different methods to collect information:. Anyways you had been a great help for me.

I am engineering student and this will be a part of my final project. Thank you very much, and keep up the good work. I am looking forward to get this work on my andriod tablet. Will let you know the results.

I am student and currently working on a project for my univerity. I am trying to write an app which is capable of reading date by using the TUSB http: Something like USB to serial.

But it is rather tricky to receive the information of the cc I dont know which methods I should use or which parameter are correct. So maybe you have an idea how the methods like controlTransfer etc.

Indeed if you have another USB-Serial controller the setup is always a bit tricky. I urge you to try and use wireshark while you connect the controller to your Host Machine and then check what control transfers are issued!

This is a method guaranteed to work. If you are lucky please get back to us so we can refer to your work. I got things to work very well with the Arduino Uno — so I know the Android side can work — and I can see the Vendor ID and Device ID for the TI module when I iterate devices Decimal for the vendor and decimal for the device, but things keep crashing and no data is ever exchanged as far as I can see.

I have a small doubt. This code continously sends data from the android phone to the arduino. Is there anyway i can send discreet data. For example, I want to send data byte 0x03 to the arduino only on a button press.

When i put the following code on a button press sUsbController. I think its because the buffer is overflowing as the android code is continously sending the data 0x03 to the arduino. Any way i can make the android code send the data only once?

Also be sure to always call Serial. Is there example code that I could add for sending information back to the android device? Perhaps if I were to take a few analog reads from the arduino and I want to send them to be graphed on the android?

The buffer you submitted as argument will then hold the data from the Arduino. We are using your program for our project at school and we would like to ask you for some help.

It would be very appreciated! Secondly we need to know if your program is also executable on the arduino micro board http: Currently we are using the same as you use d Arduino Uno.

Thank you so much. You can send data back by issuing a transfer to the bulk out endpoint and then you will receive the data that you are sending with Serial.

The data is then stored in the buffer you transmit. Thank you very much! Do you know if your program also works on the Arduino Micro? I am also interested in receiving data back from the Arduino.

Manuel, Thanks so much for this article. I did discover something: I worked around it by converting main to a loop that exits after 1 loop. But I, like about 10 others in this thread, really need to send data in the other direction also.

I beg you to help us by elaborating a bit more how to do this transfer. Or anyone else that has solved this—including Andreas. Hi there, Amazing tutorials! I got it work with my Nexus 7 and Arduino Mega A few things to change for it to work on the Mega though: I uploaded your firmware code on mega adk, and also installed android application on Nexus S and galaxy nexus.

The Galaxy Nexus on the other hand should do fine. Or do yo have any code that helps me to achieve it? You can do it with a slightly modified version of the software code on the Android side.

Can i ask you for code for Arduino side in format of ino? I am programming on Windows 7 with Arduino 1. I tried to modify code for Arduino — http: When i left PID on 0x nothing will happend.

When i changed it to 0x then activity will failed on nullpointer exception caused by conn if! I am very new to android environment. Pls help me, this is my mini project to be submitted to the college.

Having almost no knowledge of android development I would like to seek help from you. I only need a kick start for which I need a simple app which has a button and a text box.

Looking at what you have done I believe you could help me…. Thank you for your work on this. I did finally get it to work. I have the exact setup you describe here. Oddly, I had to change the baud rate on the arduino side to to get it to work.

Various websites exist to allow people to track their progress; however, many will also find entering their daily step count and a heart-beat count onto a calendar to be motivational as well. Pedometers have been shown in clinical studies to increase physical activity, and reduce blood pressure levels and Body Mass Index.

A daily target of 10, steps was first proposed. One criticism of the pedometer is that it does not record intensity, but this can be done by making step goals time limited for example, steps in 10 minutes counts as moderate exercise.

Leonardo da Vinci envisioned a mechanical pedometer as a device with military applications. In a pedometer called a manpo-kei meaning “10, steps meter” Japanese: Hatano promoted “manpo-kei pedometers” from, after his research was accepted as proving that 10, Steps A Day was the proper balance of caloric intake and activity-based caloric expenditure to maintain a healthy body.

The technology for a pedometer includes a mechanical sensor and software to count steps. Early forms used a mechanical switch to detect steps together with a simple counter.

If one shakes these devices, one hears a lead ball sliding back and forth, or a pendulum striking stops as it swings. Today advanced step counters rely on MEMS inertial sensors and sophisticated software to detect steps.

These MEMS sensors have either 1-, 2- or 3-axis detection of acceleration. The use of MEMS inertial sensors permits more accurate detection of steps and fewer false positives.

The software technology used to interpret the output of the inertial sensor and “make sense of accurate steps” varies widely. The accuracy of step counters varies widely between devices.

Typically, step counters are reasonably accurate at a walking pace on a flat surface if the device is placed in its optimal position usually vertically on the belt clip. Although traditional step counters are affected dramatically when placed at different angles and locations, recent advances have made them more robust to those non-ideal placements.

Still, most step counters falsely count steps when a user is driving a car or makes other habitual motions that the device encounters throughout the day. This error accumulates for users with moderate commutes to work.

The 5th and 6th generation iPod Nano by Apple features an integrated accelerometer. Apple and Nike, Inc. The sensor communicates with an iPhone 3GS or higher, iPod touch 2nd generation or higher, iPod nano 4th generation or higher, or dedicated adapter to transmit workout information such as elapsed time, distance traveled, and calories burned.

The addition of the separate always on coprocessor allows the main CPU to snooze while it tracks the motion of the phone, through the use of an inertial measurement unit IMU consisting of an accelerometer, MEMS gyroscope and digital compass.

This means that it will know when you’re jogging or when you’re in the car, and can take that information and store it without needing to drain the battery by having the main CPU run. It can retrofit the data to apps that you download at a later date, meaning any M7-enabled app that uses the new CoreMotion API will be able to give you information on recent training.

The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus contains the next generation of the Apple Motion Coprocessors with the M8 motion coprocessor, this chip was paired with the vastly improved Apple A8 SoC processor and gained the added sensor input of a Bosch Sensortech Barometer allowing the M8 to sense changes in elevation by the change in barometric pressure.

This saves space allowing for the reduction of the logic board size as well as reduced power usage within the phone. This chip is also at the heart of the iPhone SE.

The Apple Watch extended step-counting capability to Apple’s first wearable device using the accelerometer and gyroscope integrated in the Apple S1 SIP System in package. Apple Watch works in parallel with a connected iPhone to improve accuracy of the user’s step count.

The Fitbit is an always-on electronic pedometer, that in addition to counting steps also displays distance traveled, altitude climbed via a number of flights of steps count, calories burned, current intensity, and time of day.

Worn in an armband at night, it also purports to measure the length and quality of a user’s sleep. Inbuilt is a daily target, of 10, steps and 10 flights of stairs. Powered with mAh battery this is excellent for the large screen display and the reviews of this smartphone are very good.

So, the above mentioned phones are the phones which Samsung has in its kitty when we talk of Android Smart Phones which Samsung has to offer its customers as of now. Thanks I will go for the better one.

Think of this as the Samsung version of the Genius Bar. Customers can bring in their Samsung phones or tablets to the Smart Service desk to get help with their phones, including getting problems diagnosed and contacts transferred.

While the Smart Service desk can’t handle direct repairs for broken screens, the Samsung employees can help direct customers to where they can get a screen replaced, receive help with warranty issues or process swap-outs for those with Best Buy’s Geek Squad protection.

They’ll also help customers install software updates on their phone, do backups or reinstall their phone OS. I asked a Samsung Experience Consultant what he would do if a customer came with a rooted phone that had a different ROM installed.

He said that while the ROM technically voids the warranty, he would be able to help the customer with the phone and restore the firmware to Samsung stock. If the phone was unable to boot or restore, he would have to send it to Samsung, which may decline to service the item at their discretion.

Still, it’s nice for Galaxy S owners to know that they have a place to go if their phone isn’t working properly. The real benefit — for Best Buy and Samsung — is that these Samsung employees will be able to help set up products, and show how to use different features at point of purchase.

Right now, this is the biggest pain point in the sales process and so Samsung is doing what it can so that customer’s leave the store “feeling empowered about their device.

While the Galaxy line of smartphones and tablets — including the upcoming Galaxy S4 — are on full display, Samsung is also using the Samsung Experience Shop to show off its other connected products and devices.

The company’s line of Ultrabooks and Windows 8 tablets are on display and configured to work with other Samsung devices. There is also an area dedicated for digital imaging — including the Samsung Galaxy Camera — along with a laptop that shows how the camera can interface wirelessly with a computer and cloud services.

When the Galaxy S4 launches, this section will also include a DirecTV set-top box that can be controlled with its new WatchOn remote control feature. In the future, this is an area Samsung hopes to focus on even more — especially as the living room and mobile and tablets continue to converge.

The Samsung Experience Shop is the company’s latest effort to work with retailers and point-of-sale locations to make its products — particularly the Galaxy line of smartphones and tablets — more accessible.

Samsung tells us that it went from having virtually no branded point-of-sale presence in to more than 10, permanent points-of-distribution and branded point-of-sale areas by the end of It’s that kind of growth that has helped Samsung ramp up its product line, and distribute its products to so many markets at the same time.

While the Samsung Experience Shops are the biggest new retail initiative, it’s not the only strategy Samsung has up its sleeve. The company is also working on rolling out a number of virtual sales assistants that accompany devices at chains such as Fry’s.

These assistants work alongside the phone, teaching users how to activate certain features. The demos work in both English and Spanish, and are compatible with the Galaxy S3 and the Note 2, as well as the Galaxy S4 upon its launch.

For Samsung, a branded, controlled retail experience represents the last piece of establishing a degree experience for customers. The goal is to offer consumers a way to feel comfortable before, during and after purchase.

It’s a strategy that makes sense too. As we’ve noted in the past, the strength of the Galaxy brand is probably second only to Apple in the smartphone market. More people associate Android with Samsung and Galaxy these days, than Google.

For that reason, it’s essential for Samsung to better control its experience going forward. It’s also good for retailers such as Best Buy. The company is trying to differentiate itself from competitors such as Walmart and Costco, as well as from online rivals such as Amazon.

To do that, the company wants to offer a place where customers feel they can go to get the right information, follow-up support or help with a product. Similar to what’s found in Apple’s store-within-a-store concepts, extra training and support staff for the Samsung products also help fill in the informational gaps that exist in the current retail model.

Connected by USB with a computer, the user’s data is automatically uploaded and displayed via a web-based profile page, that keeps track of historical data, to which can be added food consumption data.

Based on activity users are awarded badges for daily step and climbing targets, as well as ‘lifetime’ awards for same. Individuals can improve the accuracy of their stride length settings by measuring and calibrating their average stride length.

Since most smartphones, iPod Touches and some MP3 players are enhanced with an integrated accelerometer it is possible to introduce pedometer functionality to these devices. This option was successfully realized by a number of smartphone application developers, enabling any fitness savvy smartphone owner to track the number of steps taken as well as distance traveled and calories used.

This is the first integrated phone with an always-on pedometer which counts steps like a traditional pedometer. The sensor is made by ADI. This handset was introduced in Japan in and has sold over 3 million units.

The pedometer application tracks steps taken, time elapsed and distance traveled. However the application cannot run continuously as it drains the phone’s battery and is therefore of limited use.

Accelerometers are included in phones to save correct orientation on photos and to improve the GPS positioning feature. This application can be left running all day as it is not a huge drain on the battery.

The W is a clamshell phone and displays the user’s steps on the external display. The W must be closed in order for it to count steps. When the step counter is activated, it counts detected steps during the day, and at midnight it stores the counter in a day-by-day history and resets it to zero.

They connect to the game card via infrared signals. Unlike the Personal Trainer: The Nintendo 3DS, released March 27, , features an internal pedometer that counts and records daily step counts while in sleep mode.

Every hundred steps earns a Play Coin, which can be spent on a variety of extras and bonuses. Released May, by Philips. This MP3 capable pedometer measures aerobic intensity and matches songs on the playlist to keep the user engaged and motivated.

Tractivity is a group of health-related services that include a sensor that is worn on a shoe. The Tractivity sensor logs the distance a person walks or runs, the calories burned and the time the person was active, which they can then view on a private web page.

Tractivity’s online web application provides a graphical experience and motivational resource to encourage people to lead healthier lifestyles. The sensors wirelessly transfer activity data to a secure server for viewing on an individual’s computer.

Android integrates a step counter with version 4. A device already supporting this sensor is the Nexus 5. Another smartphone is the Samsung Galaxy S5 , which features a built-in pedometer that uses the S Health software to display your daily step counts.
