First 2GB, then 3GB and now 4GB! Yes, we are talking about RAM in smartphones, and genuinely the question arises what next. It seems that with each passing year a new standard is set to achieve in smartphone RAM. Literally, mobile market is swelling with phones having RAM more than ever. Surprisingly while on the one hand iPhone is unfazed by all this brouhaha over RAM and using still 2GB, on the other hand Android makers, to rope in more and more buyers and in keeping with the trend, are equipping their smartphones with unprecedentedly high RAM. Once there was a time when Galaxy Note 3 was the only mobile phone to have 3GB RAM and to be honest at the time this much of RAM was considered a little redundant. Then came a time when 3GB RAM phones were no longer a rarity. Everybody was awestruck when Asus made a splash with its 4GB RAM phone. Asus 4GB phone, that is Asus Zenfone 2 was an overnight success and sold like hotcakes. Soon other companies, especially the Chinese mobile makers, followed the suit and the current scenario is that almost every high-end tagged mobile has now 4GB RAM.But this race to more and more RAM has apparently no end as the mobile companies, after all, have to do something to stay ahead of the game and lure the customers. The China-based company Vivo was the first to usher in the age of 6GB RAM mobile phones and as expected pulled in the feature-obsessed buyers. The first 6GB RAM phone, Vivo Xplay5 Elite, was launched in March 2016. Just imagine how splendid a phone should perform, which is not only equipped with 6GB RAM but also contains the most advanced SoC Snapdragon 820. In a nutshell, 6GB RAM phones at present have everything one can ask for, not to mention heavy gaming and heavy multi-tasking.ZTE, the famous Chinese company, which up until now was doing business only in USA and China has finally decided to expand its business territory worldwide. The company is now prepared to sell its phones in Europe, America and Asia. ZTE Nubia 11 which will definitely steal your heart is a 6GB RAM phone and will be launched worldwide soon. This phone has an eye catching, fully metal body and is equipped with a Snapdragon 820 SoC, 6GB RAM, a 5.5-inch FHD display, 16MP primary, a 8MP front camera and a rear fingerprint scanner. It will be available also in a 4GB RAM variant.Asus is the first company that had implemented 4GB RAM in its flagship device, Zenfone 2 and garnered remarkable publicity doing so.

asus zenfone new model 2016

Later on other manufacturers followed the suite. And this time too, Asus is very quick in launching its first 6GB RAM phone. Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe is all set to launch in June 2016 and it will be available by the end of the month.Like other 6GB RAM phones, it will also ship with Snapdragon 820 SoC, the most efficient SoC to the date. Also it will be selling 3 different internal memory variants 64,128 and 256GB.Asus Zenfone 3 deluxe comes with hybrid SIM card/microSD card slot. You can install a memory card of up to 256GB in this slot. One more thing that is notable is that this device has two versions of RAM; 4GB and 6GB.Coming to display, it has 5.7 inches Super AMOLED full HD display protected with Gorilla Glass. It has 23MP primary camera equipped with laser autofocus in addition to an 8MP front facing one.Unlike its predecessor, Zenfone 3 Deluxe is a slim smartphone having thickness of 7.5mm. Its exterior is made from full metal and it looks sexy. Front panel gives typical Asus feel with conical gradient at its bottom side. The another great thing regarding this device is that it features its own unique and elegant design. No one can say that it is a copied or inspired design.

We freely admit that those who live and breathe smartphones are not the most patient bunch. But few can argue that the ASUS ZenFone Zoom has taken its sweet time, having first shown its face some 364 days ago. And today at CES 2016 in Las Vegas the company has finally given word: The ZenFone Zoom with its 13-megapixel sensor at 10-element Hoya lens will be available in the United States starting in early February, and starting at $399.The ZenFone Zoom was a bit of a unicorn when it was teased a year ago, offering what on paper should be be some pretty stunning photography capabilities. And while a lot has happened since then — namely the cameras from Samsung and LG, and even a good couple of Nexus cameras — there’s still reason to be excited for a sub-$500 shooter like the ZenFone Zoom.Aside from the camera, we’re looking at a 5.5-inch 1080p display with Gorilla Glass 4, Android 5.x Lollipop, and either 64- or 128-gigabyte storage options. The Zoom will come with 4 gigabytes of RAM. It’s all powered by a quad-core Intel Atom Z3590 processor and a 3,000 mAh battery.ASUS Showcases the ZenFone Zoom at CES 2016

The difference with the ZenFone 2 is obvious, as it used an Intel Z3580/Z3560 chip with 2GB of RAM and less internal memory. The performance is good and I didn’t notice many bugs or slowing down. It’s far from the performance of a Galaxy S7 but the phone handles multitasking well. The ZenFone 3 perfectly meets the expectations of the average user.

Good day Mr. G, so i was thinking and would be glad for some advise, well Im not a big fan of big screens as well. Right now Im using Sony Xperia Z5 compact, yeah softkeys 🙂 as Im typing this lol. So I was thinking of selling this device and get Zenfone 3 with 5.2in screen, and which will even get me some extra cash, do you think that will be a good idea? And how fast is Snapdragon 625 compared to 810? I was trying to look for some benchmarks on your reviews but there arent. TIA!
This is the Taiwan model. I’m not sure if it’s common to have different bands in different countries, but that might explain it.

I own a Zenfone 2 and in general I have been happy with it… BUT BEWARE Asus NEVER provided an over the air update to Android versions from when the phone launched.. And the user community was QUITE VOCAL at thier frustration of the lack of an upgrade even after they had promised to provide it about a year after launch. So we Zenfone 2 users are STUCK at Android version 5.0… So think long and hard if you are going to be happy with staying with Android 6.0 for the life of the phone if they continue to do to users what they did with the Zenfone 2. The 2 is a nice phone but Asus hasn’t been honest with the users and we never got our upgrades.Except the Xiaomi phones need to be imported and that takes a while… Not worth it if you live near South America or the Caribbean. Not sure about the US though.

I would definitely recommend this phone to someone who is not a phone snob, but who would appreciate a quality phone at the right price. I almost never buy phones that have just been released as the prices drop so quickly, but the ZenFone 3 was cheaper than almost anything comparable, even against other phones that have been out for 6 months or a year already.
After using so many flagship or budget device, the only complaint we all used to have is battery life. Most of the phones I have reviewed before has a battery life of almost a day, and if by chance you overused your phone for any reason, you’ll be out of luck for battery backup, and then start finding your power bank for surviving. But what if a company attach a phone with a power bank? Talking about Zenfone Max, it comes with a 5000 mAh battery, which offers battery backup of at least two days. I have used this phone for now almost a month as my primary phone, ditching a flagship device and till now I have not regretted switching to a budget phone, as it has taken away all my battery vows. With so many choices of Zenfone Smartphone’s availability in India, it becomes difficult to choose which one to pick if you’re an Asus fan. But having a reliable big battery in a phone surely stands out in the crowd of smartphones. Although Zenfone Max was launched in January 2016 and that model is still being sold at Rs 8,999, but new Zenfone Max 2016 was launched in the month of May, has an upgraded processor and increased internal storage of 32GB. Here’s our finding of the device:Having a big battery surely add a bit of weight to the phone, but not to any uncomfortable level. Asus has designed the back of Zenfone Max in a curved form factor so that the phone looks sleek and feels comfortable holding it the whole day in your daily usage. The curved shape of the phone fits the palm without any issue and having a course plastic finish on back panel gives a good feel of the hold.New Zenfone Max comes with some eye-popping colors such as Blue, Orange, White, and Black. There is a golden bezel frame around the edges of the phone which gives the phone solidity to survive drops and also add a dash of premiumness to it.This frame also holds the power button and volume rocker buttons to the right edge while there is a 3.5mm audio jack at the top and a micro-USB port with a mic at the bottom edge of the phone. The primary camera is at the top of the rear of the phone with a dual-tone LED flash placed to the left and a laser emitter on the other side. Just below it, there is a shiny silver-hued engraving of Asus name. Except black color, in other color devices, there is a “Zenfone” brand etched along with four grilled speaker at the bottom. At the front, there are usual touch navigation buttons with no backlights, which is a standard design of Zenfone series smartphones till now, in upcoming Zenfone 3 range smartphones, Asus has ditched the physical touch buttons and rather offering those on-screen.Although higher the resolution, more the battery consumption but more the things look good on-screen. However, I welcome Asus move for providing HD screen as it consumes way less battery than a full HD display. This is why this phone can give two days of battery backup as display plays a small part in battery consumption. And with a screen resolution of 1280x720p, display not at all looks inferior to its rivals. I won’t say that the text and icons are pretty sharp, but in terms of color reproduction and brightness, it looks as good as many other mid-range smartphones. So, you can enjoy watching videos and surfing the internet won’t be an issue.Using the Splendid app, this phone offers to adjust the color temperature of the display, and Bluelight Filter comes handy at night if you’re using the phone in the dark, as it reduces the stress on eyes. For the display protection, it doesn’t have Gorilla glass, hence applying a strong tempered glass is strongly recommended. It has a GFF Touch panel which is directly bonded to display; that’s why touch response time is instant. Display viewing angles are great, and visibility under bright light or Sun is fine and doesn’t disrupt the user experience.

asus zenfone new phone

Asus Zenfone Max runs on a customized ZenUI with Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 at its heart. Although ZenUI is not the fastest Android Launcher, you may have used if shifting from stock Android. Hence, I recommend using free Google launcher, as it’ll bring great improvements in the performance of the device. Also, there are unwanted apps which many might not appreciate, but the good news is that you can uninstall most apps and disable few.Upon first boot of the phone, Android also install Sheets, Docs and Slides apps of Google. I don’t know if this action is because of Asus or from Google itself. But I uninstalled those apps too as I did not require those. Otherwise, Marshmallow is quiet smooth and users can access new features of it like Now on Tap, which shows contextual search options by pressing and holding the home button. You can also change app permissions of any application you want in settings.Even with 2 GB RAM, this phone didn’t disappoint me concerning performance. Switching apps from one to another is a breeze, and the phone handled most tasks with ease. It’s good with daily multi-tasking and even played FIFA 16 or GT Racing 2 for me without any heating issue or sluggishness. Being powered by an upgraded Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 Octa-core processor with Adreno 405 graphics engine and 32 GB of internal memory, this phone proves to be an excellent choice for a mid-range smartphone. On the benchmarking scores, it scored an impressive 37,459 on AnTuTU and 987 points on Base Mark OS II. On Geekbench 3, it scored 635 points in single-core and 2670 on multi-core tests. However, I do not believe on benchmarking figures and prefer to test the device in extreme practical terms. For doing so, I first started using this device as primary and as for general usage, I keep filling it with multiple apps, and it didn’t disappoint us as there was no lag in terms of response time.I also regularly played some graphics-heavy games, and the phone fared well when played for short durations of 10 to 15 minutes. The phone got some heated in prolonged sessions but stayed in a comfortable level only, which is normal behavior for any smartphone these days.New Zenfone Max 2016 has the biggest improvement of the battery life. Although since starting with previous versions, it had 5000 mAh battery, but thanks to Doze power optimization in Android Marshmallow, daily battery life has improved a lot. In my 30 days of usage, I have charged it hardly for 14-18 times as most of the times; battery lasted for 2 days for me which is a super impressive thing.Because of this, I am scared to shift to any other device as any device with 3000 mAh battery can’t meet my expectations now and I am no more interested in charging in phone daily. This device has spoiled me completely. But there is one thing which I didn’t like that Asus didn’t provide fast charging in this phone and even the charger is having an output of 5V, 1A, which is not welcome. Using in-box charger, the phone took nearly 4+ hours from 0 to 100 percent. Although by using a 2A charger, time reduced to 2.5 hours which is totally acceptable. In my usage, I always put it on charging a whole night, so this become a part of my schedule every alternate night. With a 13 megapixel camera at this cost with a 5000mAh battery, I didn’t have many expectations with Camera, as somewhere company has to do cost-cutting for lowering down the cost, but to my surprise, this phone also has the same camera as Asus Zenfone laser which is equipped with PixelMaster Technology, Dual-LED Tone flash, laser auto-focus and a 5 MP camera with wide-angle at front. In my usage term, I found camera clicking some really good quality images in bright daylight conditions. It’s auto-focus feature quickly adjusted the focus on the object and clicked images quickly. In low-light condition, the images turn out to be fine. However, the camera of this phone is still better than Redmi Note 3 in a closed environment.New Asus Zenfone Max is an excellent upgrade of the version they launched in Jan 2016. With the competition from Le 2 and Redmi Note 3, this phone completely wins in the battery department. This phone fulfills the expectations you might have from a sub-Rs 10K category phone. With a great camera, good performance and excellent battery, you can roam around full-day without any worries of the battery backup, as even if you may go rough with it a whole day.

In any case, while telephoto shots are fun, the bottom line here is that ASUS has a potentially great main camera in both ZenFone 4 variants. These are rear shooters that might well go toe-to-toe with the very best, thanks to great optics and post-processing tricks like multi-frame photography.ASUS’s new phones run Android 7.1.1 — near-enough the latest version right this second, but remember Android 8.0 is just around the corner, and ASUS doesn’t have a great track record with timely platform updates. The company has gone a little over-the-top with software customizations in the past, but the new ZenUI 4 actually pares back the most egregious customizations, and while it’s still a far cry from stock Android, there’s really nothing wrong with the way it looks. An inoffensive blue and white color scheme is present throughout the software, and there are no over-the-top animations or visuals to contend with.
The concept of “premium” is stupid in general, but look prettier it does.

Meanwhile the regular ZenFone 4 Selfie pares back some of the specs, and the physical hardware also feels a bit less premium — though it’s still a metal unibody we’re dealing with here. You still get dual front-facing cameras, this time at 20 megapixels, but with a lesser processor and a lower-res display.ASUS’s announcements today were mainly geared towards Asian markets, and so the ZenFone 4 models that eventually come to the West may look a little different to what we see here. Nevertheless, our first impressions are positive. ASUS’s latest range may not feature barnstorming new chassis designs or super-thin bezels, but they do match up to the competition in terms of performance and photography capabilities. Bringing a wide-angle camera to an affordable flagship is a big deal. Equally important is the inclusion of a telephoto lens in the high-end ZenFone 4 Pro, bringing new creative capabilities like portrait mode.

It is the second phone to make the list of 6GB RAM phones. This phone, having Snapdragon 820 SoC is available in two variants: 32GB memory/4GB RAM and 64GB/6GB RAM. Even though it being a RAM giant, this device disheartens power users- those who want to install memory-devouring games and myriads of apps, because it lacks an expandable memory slot.Except for expendable memory, this device, regarding its all other specifications, has everything that a high-end mobile phone can have. 21MP primary camera, 8MP front camera, 6GB RAM, Snapdragon 820 CPU, USB Type C 1.0 reversible connector, 5.7 inches quad-HD display, QuickCharge 3, fingerprint scanner are other features worth-mentioning.

Meanwhile, the secondary camera lets you take 120-degree wide-angle shots, though with less impressive performance in the dark. The phone packs a long-lasting 5000 mAh lithium-polymer battery. It boasts a standby time of 38.1 days. With up to 37.6 hours of talktime on 3G or 32.5 hours of Wi-Fi web browsing, the device has enough juice to keep up with any power user. The ZenFone Max can even be used to charge other compatible devices.

Never heard of cyanogenmod mate?
Asus has raised the bar in terms of build quality with this device. Firstly, the Taiwanese firm opted for more high quality materials as the ZenFone 3 is made from glass and metal. The smartphone is similar to the Galaxy S6 but, of course, it’s impossible to confuse the two as the manufacturers have both placed their logos on the devices. As you can imagine, the phone is prone to getting covered in fingerprints.Yes, the design is classic, but great progress has been made with the finish. The feel of the phone is pleasant, the fittings are secure (no grinding or popping) and the screws are well hidden. In short, Asus has done a great job and the device has nothing to fear from its competitors.Regarding the ZenFone 2, the smartphone also succeeded in achieving finesse and it’s even better with the new device. However, the handling isn’t exactly easy. The corners aren’t rounded and this can affect the user’s experience with the smartphone. Some thicker and bigger smartphones avoid giving this sensation. The front panel is dominated by the screen but the body-screen ratio doesn’t feature among the best on the market (only 70 percent). This space is quite limited because of the three buttons at the bottom. Regarding these buttons, contrary to Samsung smartphones, Asus had the good idea to use Android logic (return button on the left, multitasking on the right).A fingerprint reader is featured on the back panel. This button isn’t circular, but rather, rectangular. This sets it apart from its competitors. In practice, it is very efficient and quick. It can also be used to fulfill other actions, like returning calls or taking a photo.Above the fingerprint reader, you’ll find the camera. It slightly protrudes from the device (which obviously makes it similar to the Galaxy S6) and will affect the smartphone’s stability when resting on a flat surface. A two-tone LED flash and an autofocus phase detection are also integrated into the phone. As explained previously, the ZenFone 3 is available in two screen sizes: 5.2 and 5.5 inches. I tested the larger version. It has Full-HD (1,080 x 1,920) definition with 401ppi pixel density. Only the VR lovers will notice the lack of QHD definition. If that’s the case for you, I advise you to opt for another model. As for screen protection, the device has 2.5D Gorilla Glass. The display impressed me during my test. It’s very bright. Readability is excellent and the IPS screen offers an excellent contrast. The ZenFone 3 deals very well with outdoor lighting. Reflections are rare and you aren’t bothered by messages popping up on the smartphone. Finally, the only criticism that can be made about the device is its color temperature. Naturally, the colors lean towards blue. This is particularly noticeable for white. I advise you to change this in the settings to choose the “Balanced” mode.Asus suspended the Nougat roll out to its Zenfone 3 line due to some bugs earlier this year, however it is now resuming the Android Nougat 7.0 update as of March 9, 2017. The update will include features such as bundled notifications and an enhanced touch performance. Now here is a well-debated topic: the smartphone’s software interface, particularly its ZenUI 3.0 launcher. Asus is part of a group of manufacturers that like to completely modify the Android interface. On the ZenFone 3, I found this to be its weakest point. I think that ZenUI still has a long road ahead. The smartphone was initially rolled out with Android Marshmallow 6.0.1, for which there were few differences with ZenUI running Lollipop. Asus decreased the number of pre-installed applications (even if 64 GB of internal memory is enough to store all the Asus and Google applications) but the majority of them can only be deactivated and not deleted. As a user, I prefer to be able to use my system freely and delete anything that I don’t want on my device. But what annoyed me the most is the large amount of functions and applications made by Asus that aren’t useful. Particularly certain applications for clean-up and optimization, which uses up storage space and spams us with daily notifications. You have to go to settings and deactivate them so you’re not continually bothered by them.ASUS ZenFone 3 performance

ZenFone Zoom’s innovative 10-element lens was created by HOYA, the Japanese optics experts. Together, we created an aspheric, molded-glass lens system, finished using a technique we call the “D-cut”— a world first. This is paired with dual high-precision stepper motors and arranged in an innovative periscopic arrangement to maximize incoming light and capture best possible photo quality — and allow 3x optical-zoom for close-up clarity as little as two inches away.
As someone in North America, it’s really hard to get excited about this.

I had bought this phone. I really like it very much, but apparently it had a faulty display. There were dead pixel on the display. I called Flipkart and asked for a replacement. To which they replied we’ll provide a refund as the replacement option is not available for this product. U can go ahead and place a new order if u want after pick up of the mobile by our technician. nnI had exchanged my old phone for Rs 5200. I was told that i would get the money back in the form of an EGV( Electronic Gift Voucher) in a max of 24 HRS. It has been close to 48 hrs. Still no response. More over the amount which was debited from my Credit card has been debited 2 times. Now my card has crossed the credit limit. Pathetic from Flipkart. To this I get a mail from Flipkart, nQUOTE[” We are sorry that due to an unforeseen issue, an amount of has been debited twice from the payment source used while placing the order. nWe assure you that a refund will be initiated and credited within the next 8 standard banking procedures.”].nnI don’t have a phone to use now. Is it possible to survive without a mobile in today’s world??nnI wonder who is to pay for this. Who will incur the expenses on my credit card. How can they commit such atrocities. I’m really frustrated and considering taking legal actions against Flipkart. nnIts a shame on flipkart to treat their customers this way.

I got my first “iPhone 6” last year. Even before reach 1.5 years iPhone 6 got hardware issue and iPhone slowly died after several sudden shut downs. I carefully used and it didn’t had one single scratch. Apple repair centers said cannot replace(out of warranty) or repair (its a motherboard issue). I Just lost a lot of money because of shitty apple hardware. functionality and smooth is good but not worth paying that price for one year. I will never go for iPhones Again. A lot of the specs on here as bs….galaxy s8 is barely about to be realeased. You can’t already be speculating about s9. And not every phone on here is gonna have the Snapdragon 835 chipset. I’m betting you samsung will end up making a higher end exynos chipset for the note 8. They just can’t release the note with the same specs as the s8. Also, even 6gb ram is ridiculous for phones with good memory management. 8gb ram is just absurd. No phone on here is gonna put out 8gb ram. If you actually look at memory management graphs, there is usually always 1-2 gb of floating ram available.

I own a Zenfone 1, even with the hardware improvements, I will not be getting another ASUS phone. ZenUI changes too much with Android, and ASUS isn’t anywhere close to Samsung or Sony’s level when it come to software. Their Zen apps are terrible, their OS updates constantly break important 3rd party apps, and the stability of later updates is terrible.

It will be important to see how the ZenFone 3 holds up after a few months of daily use, and since it was just released we really have no way of knowing. But I am keeping my fingers crossed. Sounds like a good phone for the camera buff at a decent price. If I was a photo hound, this would be worth looking at if the actual image output lives up to the hype. Leather back is nice too. Although I don’t mind Lollipop, and performance and battery life have been nice (for ME at least!), there are other phones which are already on the market with M. Did they save money by sticking with L, or is there something in their software that is not compatible with in M and they don’t have time to work it out? Another item for concern is boasting about an SOC made with 22 nanometer technology. The SD 810 was considered a stopgap SOC and uses a 20 nm process. The 820 uses a 14 nm process, so bragging about 22 nm seems a bit odd.

They launched Pixel and Pixel XL last year, and both of them have got huge success in terms of camera performance and also the overall mobile experience. This year Google is looking forward to make Google Pixel series even better. Google Pixel 2 is likely to get almost Bezel-less QHD+ Display on the front. Rest of the design is expected to be same. Google is working hard to make the camera better than the current Pixel. At the back, there will be Dual camera setup while on the front there will be a regular single camera to shoot selfies.5.5-inch QHD+ Almost Bezel-less Display
Did you actually USE the original Zenfone, or just read a few people slagging it off online and join in with the sheep. Still using my ZenFone 5 after nearly 2 years now – nope, never been “almost too hot to hold”. Nope, never had any problem whatsoever with “unresponsive UI”. Oh wait your FRIENDS bought one…oh well now that qualifies you then, eh. Well done. Build quality was actually one of the things it was renowned for too. Asus Zenfone 3 details
The overall look and feel of both phones is very similar, though. The only differences are the ever-so-slight extra heft of the ZenFone 4 Pro, and the fact that that phone’s camera has very slight lens bump. The ZenFone 4 Pro also goes with a slightly glossy finish to its metal trim, for whatever that’s worth. Otherwise, the front face is near identical, with minimal fuss, bezels that are definitely present but not enormous, and an array of capacitive buttons down below. Biometric security, as always, is built into the home button. Both phones feature good-looking 5.5-inch 1080p displays, but the 4 Pro switches up to an AMOLED panel for more vibrant colors. And while we weren’t able to test either ZenFone 4 model out in direct sunlight, we didn’t notice any telltale issues around viewing angles or screen reflectivity. On the inside, the vanilla ZenFone 4 has a Snapdragon 660 chip from Qualcomm, the new 14nm mid-range champion, with between 4 and 6GB of RAM, and up to 64GB of storage, backed up by a 3300mAh battery. Based on the performance of previous 660-based phones we’ve used, battery performance here should be solid. On the ZenFone 4 Pro, you’ll step up to the top-tier Snapdragon 835 platform, with 6GB of RAM and with up to 128GB of storage, plus a substantial 3600mAh battery. Those are flagship specs by any standard, and the pairing of a 10nm chip with such a large battery is also promising.Specs are all well and good, but the big deal about the ZenFone 4 range is its dual-camera array. You’ll get two different dual-lens configurations depending on which model you pick. The regular ZenFone 4 has Sony’s top-end IMX362 sensor, with 1.4-micron pixels and OIS, behind an f/1.8 lens. This sensor features PDAF and Galaxy S8-like Dual Pixel tech for more reliable autofocusing. All of the above suggests the ZenFone 4 should perform well in low-light photography. And while our time with the phone has been limited so far, early results are promising.

Every time i turn on my Touch gesture (double tap) my phone’s screen doesn’t stop on turning on and off, am i the only one who’s experiencing this? my phone is zenfone 3max 5.2.
I wouldn’t expect software updates on a budget phone with specs like that.

Better than previous generations, but there were still 8 pre-installed 3rd party apps on the phone, none of which I wanted. These apps can be uninstalled. There are also around 25 ASUS apps in total, that can only be disabled (but not uninstalled). Some of them are useful (system-wide audio equalizer, FM radio, note pad); many are not.

Fingerprint SensorSamsung has just made a new benchmark for all the premium smartphones with the launch of Galaxy S8 and S8+. The device has the edge to edge Quad HD+ Super AMOLED infinity display. At the first sight, the Galaxy S8 looks amazing and it is all about the Display in hand; no more bezels and no more extra buttons. The device has also got all the latest specs which all the other smartphones will follow for the rest of the year. Anyway, Samsung has launched Galaxy S8 doesn’t mean they have spotted working even they are working for their next flagship Galaxy S9. Although we still have to wait a year to get the hands on of the next flagship but leaks have already started to come out. We hope Samsung S9 will feature Dual camera setup.Display – QHD 5.5-inch 2K, 95% Screen-to-Body Ratio

I think, If one has 3GB or 4GB of RAM in his phone, then why bother about default UI, Zen UI in this case? Just install a third party launcher and then forget the Zen UI. It is the beauty of Android that we can customize our phone as we wish. Secondly, when you can either uninstall and disable default apps, those apps will not be the reason of your headache anymore. Once you are sure about craps included in the handset and then act accordingly, you will feel happy due to the performance of our phone. No Phone Manufacturer sell their device withoutthose apps which we consider as bloatware. What I can’t understand is that, when Play Store is available for all and it’s free, all of the apps are available there, then Why do phone manufacturers bother about pushing those bloatware? If they refrain from doing so, then we can get more and more precious inbuilt storage free.

First, for most Android phone users marshmallow= meh. My Moto X 2014 battery life is down about 30% since the update. Doze for me has been a dud. Second, Asus is bringing a phone to the US that we have not been able to get previously. That should be considered a win.

My wife’s Zenfone 2 was a massive bargain at the time, and it still runs incredibly fast. The problem was that starting with the Zenfone 3, Asus increased the prices significantly across the entire lineup (except for an entry-level model that had worse specs than the Zenfone 2). The prices were basically at parity with any other major brand, so the phones were no longer a bargain. I assume this will continue with the Zenfone 4 line.

As for gaming, the ZenFone 3 uses an Adreno 506 graphics chip. For those of you that are interested in this, it has the same graphics chip that is integrated in the Moto Z Play. During my test, the graphics chip quality seemed rather good, and games such as Riptide GP2 and Asphalt 8 worked well. Overheating is also kept to a minimum.

There rumours that Google will also be launching a third smartphone that’s bigger than the other two. Codenamed “Taimen,” it wil allegedly be a phablet device with a screen bigger than 5.5-inches, to cater for those in the market foe the largest screen possible. These control your home, organise your life, play music, and more — and are controlled with nothing but your voice. Amazon was the first major player to enter the field, and its Amazon Echo was a surprise hit. Google is now playing catch-up, and launched the Google Home smart speaker last year.It is believed to be developing a second-generation version of the device to launch in 2017. What’s new? It may be combined with the tech used in Google’s mesh wifi router Google Wifi, helping strengthen the internet connection throughout your home. But it’s worth paying attention to because of the camera tech it’s packing. It’s the second phone to come with Project Tango — augmented reality tech developed by Google. Its cameras can map the physical space around you and insert virtual objects, whether that’s enemies in games or virtual furniture you’re thinking of buying.Project Tango — and AR more generally — is still niche. But it’s gradually moving towards the mainstream as the tech needed to support it becomes more sophisticated. The ZenFone AR has a 5.7-inch display, significantly smaller than the mammoth 6.4-inch screen that was needed on the Lenovo Phab2 Pro, the first Android phone to incorporate Project Tango technology.• In October 2016, Google announced the Chromecast Ultra — the latest version of its HDMI dongle that lets you stream video from your smartphone to (almost) any TV. The previous one came out about a year before that, so it doesn’t seem unreasonable to guess a new one might drop in late 2017. But there’s no hard evidence or any real rumours around that so far.• Like how Google gives Android to phone makers to make smartphones, it also provides a desktop operating system — Chrome OS — to laptop makers. It previously also had its own flagship Chromebook Pixel laptops, but their future is uncertain. Hardware exec Rick Osterloh said earlier this year the company has “no plans to share at this time.”• This list doesn’t include the vast majority of upcoming hardware products using Google software and apps, from Samsung, Motorola, HTC, Asus, and everyone else, of which there are too far many to count.

I can understand it for this phone as it’s been in the works for over a year, but, seriously, most people commenting on AC have absolutely no clue what a product life cycle is. A lot of the phones being introduced now were designed before MM and thus will have lollipop instead. Switching OSs during development is ridiculously expensive in time and money. People just have no friggin clue.

I must also add that the ZenFone 3 has a USB Type-C port that allows you to charge the device and transfer data quickly. Finally, the phone is dual-SIM, but only one SIM card can be connected in 3G or 4G; the other will work with 2G. NFC is also missing.Like most of its competitors, the ZenFone 3 has a mono, non-stereo speaker. Placed on the bottom edge, it could bother users that play games and can’t hear the sound from the game. On the other hand, the sound omitted from the speaker is of good quality. It’s quite powerful and clear. Of course, when the volume reaches the maximum level, the sound becomes slightly metallic, but that’s normal. The ZenFone 3 also has a Hi-Def Audio certification for its audio output which guarantees superior sound performances compared to other devices. In reality, the difference between it and its competitors isn’t noticeable. This certification seems to be more of a marketing tool than a technical value. The ZenFone 2’s main camera has a 13 MP lens and a f/2.0 aperture. It is fast and the camera application is advanced, which makes it as good as the LG G3 or even the Galaxy S5. It’s successor, the ZenFone 3, uses a 16 MP Sony lens with a f/2.0 aperture, an autofocus laser, a LED dual flash and allows you to record videos in UHD definition (Full-HD is possible at 60 images per second). How about the picture quality? It’s very strong. Photos taken with the ZenFone 3 are generally great, with a natural look and warm colors. The contrast is also very satisfactory. The camera focuses quickly and optical stabilization is noticeable. In poor lighting conditions, the ZenFone 3 copes rather well, indeed better than Honor 8, for example. The manual mode is a favorable feature in this case to help the sensor pick up light.A special feature: the ZenFone 3 offers a Super Resolution mode that makes it possible to take a 65 MP shot by combining 4 images. Unless you want to print your image on a giant poster, this mode won’t interest you much. The phone is also great for recording videos as the electronic image stabilization plays its role perfectly. On the front, the camera is of course used for selfies, and the lens is 8 MP with a f/2.0 aperture. The result is excellent and better than many of its competitors, but still not exceptional. This device has a 3,000 mAh battery, much smaller than the Ultra model which has a 4,600 mAh battery. Of course, as is the fashion now, the battery isn’t removable. With intensive use, the ZenFone sets itself apart from its competitors with an excellent battery life. You can get a day and a half out of your device. With moderate use, you’ll get two days. That was the case with my usage (calls, SMS, WhatsApp, browsing the internet, playing some music, YouTube…). The phone also distinguishes itself because it can cope well when managing draining tasks like 3D gaming. When I played Asphalt 8, the ZenFone 3 lost about 15% of its battery per hour (while the majority of smartphones lose 20%).Our battery benchmark test, PCMark, gives an excellent result of 10 hours and 17 minutes for a full bright display and with an activated mobile phone interface (in less intensive usage conditions). For those that don’t know what it is, PCMark simulates typical daily tasks and measures the time that passes until the battery drops from 80% to 20%.Finally, the ZenFone 3 supports Quick Charge 3.0. Asus promises us 60% charge in just 39 minutes thanks to the Quick Charge 3.0 technology. In reality, it’s almost true. It takes 90 minutes to completely charge your device.ASUS ZenFone 3 technical specifications

The major problems people like myself have been having with the ZenFone 2 Deluxe Special Edition is that the battery does not last long at all… And I don’t mean just daily use, I mean the battery completely ceases to function altogether after 1 or 2 months of daily device use. One would have to RMA the device to Texas (Asus support RMA repair center of North America), to get Asus to either replace the battery all together or as Asus themselves puts it in their own words “We will most likely have to give you a refurbished device, as we really don’t replace parts themselves, and it would be too costly to ship it overseas just to replace the battery sir.” “We actually dont replace parts here” “We just fix parts or reinstall OS firmware when needed”.

ASUS Zenfone 3: Hindi Review: Should you buy it in India?[Hindi-हिन्दी]
Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe 256GB
Good day Mr. P!
However, it still needs something more to set itself completely apart from its competition (OnePlus 3T being the main one) and to entice more users. Its price point of $369 for the 5.5-inch model doesn’t do it any favors right now and only a reduction in price would allow it to be placed among the best value phones on the market. Finally, the ZenFone 3 is a great mid-range smartphone that still can’t phase the top-range smartphones.
Funny companies like OnePlus must milk that .01 percent for all it is worth. What’s the point of owning an Android if you aren’t gonna root it and install ROMs. If you can’t spell XDA rock an iPhone like the rest of the sheep.

ASUS is pushing its own two social apps, ZenCircle and ZenChat, as basically Facebook and Messenger equivalents. Except no one uses them. And everything on ZenCircle is in Mandarin (possibly because I have a Taiwanese device, but it’s set to English). I already have at least a dozen different messaging and social apps, I certainly don’t need another one specific to people who have ASUS phones.

Their Zen Watch 3 is being sold in Best Buys in Canada and the US, but ASUS won’t pay for a display, so you can’t try them on – you have to buy one sight unseen and then return it if you don’t like it. And then there’s the stupid proprietary straps… ASUS claimed there would be leather and nylon straps but the nylon ones are now ‘rubber’ and still aren’t out. I have an allergy to animal products and had to dip the wrist bands of mine into a sealing compound to avoid welts.

That camera hump, barf. Is that a Lumia?? Seriously, can phone manufacturers stop with the wonky phone backs?? Am I the only person that uses their phone while it sits on a desk for most of the day?? Flat back! FLAT BACK!!!! I can’t imagine having a fingerprint reader or volume buttons the rear, instant NOPE from me. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills!!!!

The main model for selfie enthusiasts to get excited about is the ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro. On the outside, the Selfie Pro doesn’t bear much resemblance to its mainstream namesakes. The chassis is metal, looking like a cross between a OnePlus 3 and a OnePlus 5. The exciting stuff, as you may expect, is happening around the front. The ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro puts its best camera sensor — the IMX362, once again, with f/1.8 lens — on the front, along with LED flash and a secondary wide-angle camera for fitting in a more panoramic view of your scene or your friends.

No, apple has very good after sale services, where as samsung, LG, and all others does not have any after sale services in the Market, in australia samsung display centres and repair centres never give any response to user. This is based on my personal experience and went back to iphone. I was using samsung since s2 launched and then s3, s4and s5. When my s5 had some problem with the software, did not samsung responded and i switched over to iphone. Request to samsung authorities to look in to this and increase your selling capacity.

Asus is a Taiwanese manufacturer best known for its laptops and is among the biggest computer makers in the world. The company has also forayed in the mobile computing segment with its Zenfone range of smartphones, FonePad series of voice-calling tablets and PadFone lineup of hybrid tablets.
Deluxe edition does not have the same updates as the Selfie or other models of ZF2. Which makes it even worse. The thing is I WAS going to buy the ZenPad 3 and ZenFone 3, but now im not…. I dont trust Asus and their shitty support. Im tired of everything about Asus. – 8 years ago I purchased a Asus motherboard for my home computer, 2 months of using it it blew on me, stopped working completely. I purchased a Gigabyte Motherboard and threw out the Asus motherboard, and Its still working today. im on it right now. Fast-Forward to 2016 I purchased ZenFone 2 Deluxe and I got screwed again. As of today, I will NEVER EVER purchase anything related to Asus ever.

This phone is slippery. It’s glass on both sides. The ring around the edge is smooth but ever-so-slightly-rubberized plastic. I really think ASUS should have gone for a more tactile plastic instead of the glass, or at least something more grippy around the outside. I guess it looks and/or feels more premium with glass, but it just doesn’t make any sense. Thankfully, I bought a case together with my phone, and I strongly advise you to get one. If you just want a rubber bumper case, that would be fine. I went for a 3rd party flip case. ASUS is making their own flip case for this phone, but it’s more expensive. Apparently you can see the clock through a circular cut-out on the front, a feature that I don’t really care about. But before you tuck your phone into its case, and before you smudge your grubby little hands all over this fingerprint magnet of glass, take at least a little while to admire it – it is actually quite good-looking. The buttons on the right side of the phone are very tactile. They’re raised enough and patterned enough to be obvious, and very satisfyingly clicky. The fingerprint reader placement is also pretty good, but it’s almost a double-edged sword. Without a case, the placement is perfect. With a case, or at least with my thicker 3rd party flip case, you end up trying to stick your finger in the cut-out to hit the fingerprint reader just right. It feels rather clumsy. Surprisingly though, it works. My fingerprint works about 9 out of 10 times, and I’m still getting used to it.Size-wise, this phone is big – for me. If you’re used to 5.5″ phones or larger phablets, it’s probably nothing new, but I’m coming from a 5″ phone with soft keys. The extra half-inch of screen size, combined with the capacitive buttons being below the screen rather than at the bottom of it really makes a difference. It is just barely possible for me to reach either the bottom row of capacitive buttons or the notification bar without feeling like the phone is going to pop out of my hand. I’m glad I didn’t wait for the 5.7″ Deluxe model. This one is big enough, and I’ve got big hands. So the first thing to do when you get a ZenFone is open up your app drawer, tap the menu, and tap Uninstall. Then you can uninstall or disable any apps you don’t want with a single tap confirm dialog. The pre-installed apps for the Taiwanese version include: Amazon Kindle, a couple of Taiwan-specific shopping sites, Yahoo Auctions, Puffin Browser, Instagram, a Taiwan game app store and some games (Need For Speed The Sims). Customizable “ZenMotion” touch gestures for launching apps from wake. The are even a couple of “ZenMotion Motion Gestures” (yes that’s what they are called on the phone) you can do without touching the screen. For instance, when you get a call, you can turn your phone face down to silence it, or put it next to your ear to answer.Mobile Manager, ASUS’s version of an Android housekeeper, does a really good job of cleaning up all of the mess and gunk that builds up on a phone over time. From one app, it is super simple to clean up apps that spam your notifications, apps that start on boot, apps that take too many permissions, or apps that eat too much mobile data. You get fine grained control over all of those things in a very intuitive interface. It also has a “speed boost” app that supposedly clears your RAM. You should not use a task killer on Android, but since many people don’t know any better, maybe at least including it with the phone will prevent people from downloading one of the junk, spyware-like versions from the Play Store.Any app can be placed behind a lock screen using the aptly named AppLock

While ASUS has been making phones for years, it wasn’t until the ZenFone 2 that the company was recognized internationally for its good work. Now that we’re nearly two years out from that device, ASUS has even more great stuff on the horizon.Though some models are region-specific, they all have signature ASUS quirks. So which one do you choose? We’ve done the hard work for you; this is the current list of the best ASUS phones you need to know about.Announced January 2017: The ASUS ZenFone AR is interesting not because of its specs but because it is the first device to combine Google’s Tango and Daydream platforms into one device. The AR in the title stands for Augmented Reality, offered by the Tango sensors and software inside the phone, while the latent VR features are serviced by Daydream, which is quickly becoming the de facto virtual reality destination for mobile gamers and dreamers. The specs are nothing to sneeze at, either: a Snapdragon 821 processor and either 6GB or 8GB RAM makes it pretty powerful, and the 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED display is covered with Gorilla Glass 4. And while it will launch with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, ASUS says that in order to take advantage of many of Tango and Daydream’s features, it will get an upgrade to Android 7.0 Nougat shortly.Announced January 2017: A really interesting phone, the ZenFone 3 Zoom takes the DNA of the excellent ZenFone 3 lineup and adds superlative specs and a fantastic dual-camera setup. The idea here is that instead of having an optical zoom kit like with the ZenFone Zoom, ASUS outfitted the ZenFone 3 Zoom with two camera sensors, the lenses of which have different focal lengths. This allows for optical zoom without the added thickness of its predecessor, and interesting background blur features that have been made famous by the iPhone 7 Plus (but were in Android phones first). Each sensor is 12MP, with 1.4-micron pixels, and lenses of f/1.7 each, making it excellent for low-light photography. Inside, the Snapdragon 625 processor and 1080p screen may not be top of the line, but are perfectly serviceable for the average consumer, and will likely keep the cost down.Announced May 2016: As has happened at so many phone manufacturers over the years, the ZenFone 3 represents a shift from plastic to metal for ASUS. The least expensive of the three models introduced in mid-2016, the ZenFone 3 boasts a meta frame covered in Gorilla Glass on either side.A high-quality 5.5-inch 1080p IPS display is what you’ll be looking at, and it’s powered by the still-unknown Snapdragon 625, which succeeds the Snapdragon 617 in the entry-level market. Versions with 3GB of RAM will be paired with 32GB of storage, while a 4GB/64GB model will also be available. All versions will boast the same 16MP rear camera sensor with optical image stabilization, too, which should make for a very decent shooter. It’s still unclear what the ZenFone 3 will cost, but if it’s in the same realm $200-$300 realm as its predecessor, it’s sure to be a commercial and critical hit.Announced May 2016: A larger, more powerful version of the ZenFone 3, the ZF3 Deluxe features a 5.7-inch 1080p IPS display, along with a much faster Snapdragon 820 processor paired with 6GB of RAM.There’s also a 23MP rear shooter with an F2.0 lens and optical image stabilization, and a 3,000mAh battery, all powering Android 6.0.1 with a pared-back version of ASUS’ ZenUI.Aside from the spec bump, what sets the ZenFone 3 Deluxe apart from its more modest counterpart is the distinct lack of plastic; unlike the ZenFone 3, which has a few plastic pieces to cover the antenna lines, the Deluxe uses more exacting (and expensive) manufacturing to achieve a chassis with less interruptions.Announced May 2016: No, this isn’t a joke: the ZenFone 3 Ultra is indeed 6.8-inches. While the display maintains the same 1080p resolution of its two ZF3 counterparts, the Ultra strikes a balance between their compute power with a Snapdragon 652 processor. Paired with either 3GB or 4GB of RAM, and between 32GB and 128GB of storage, the ZF3 Ultra doesn’t skimp on the specs, either. Oh, and there’s a massive 4,600mAh battery that takes advantage of Quick Charge 3.0 so it can go from zero to 60% in 45 minutes. And the massive cell can share power with other phones.Photographers will also appreciate the phone’s 23MP rear sensor, the same one found in the ZenFone 3 Deluxe. If they can manage to keep a grip on the 8.2oz phone, that is.Launched January 2016: We’ve been waiting on this one since CES 2015 way back. And while we’re still waiting to see it in a lot of markets, that doesn’t temper our excitement. If mobile photography is your thing then the ZenFone Zoom is going to be something you have to take a look at. Boasting a 3x optical zoom on the back without the need for a physically moving lens (think Samsung Galaxy K Zoom) the ZenFone Zoom is technically brilliant as much as it is visually impressive. It’s a fairly sizeable phone with a metal frame, the same Zen UI software experience as everything else in ASUS’ lineup and the promise of a very affordable price point.Launched January 2015: The ZenFone 2 was launched to the world at CES 2015 in Las Vegas as the initial successor to the original ZenFone lineup of Android smartphones. Once again it would see ASUS partnering with Intel for its mobile products but the ZenFone 2 had a lot more to shout about. It was the first Android phone to be announced with a 4GB RAM option, for instance, and there was a lot being said about the camera capabilities. Particularly in low light. What we ended up getting was a very good value for money phone. The top end model came in at just $300 with 64GB of internal storage to back up that 4GB of RAM. There was also a cheaper, 2GB of RAM version released at $199 which offers a similar experience with a good cost saving. The buttons moving to the back of the phone will never suit everyone, but the ZenFone 2 was a distinct step forward from its predecessors. And with every part of the software on top of the core operating system available through the Google Play Store, waiting for system updates to provide fixes is a thing of the past.

Lord Obama
I am not huge on benchmarks – I prefer “perceived experience” – but, since you asked:
Both of these phones feature attractive metal and glass designs — on the surface, a fairly standard look for mid-to-high-end phones in 2017, but ASUS spices things up a bit with its trademark concentric circle design around the back, which adds a bit of flair. 2.5D glass blends into the aluminum frame, and both phones feel solid and well-built.

Where you’re wrong is your assumption that value always means money. A valuable friend doesn’t mean you spent money on them. It means you value their friendship. A valuable phone could mean that it offers a lot of features, features that a consumer would value. And if a phone offers a lot of valuable features for low cost, that’s high value for the money.

Doubt it’ll even scratch it. It certainly didn’t scratch the front glass when it’s picked it up the first time, just the plastic backing.
3) Good processor.2 GB ram.I felt there is no lag.
I would love to see this go against the LG G6 in a camera battle. I love the G6 for the wide angle but hate the bad auto focus on the G6. Asus auto focus from my experience (had the Zenfone 3 zoom and have the Samsung S8) is equal to Samsung’s dual pixel tech. Which is way better then the G6.
OnePlus 3 is the fourth one that joins 6RAM club and is all set to launch on 14 June 2016. Surprisingly, prior to its launch, it has been listed on,, a leading global Chinese vendor. If is trusted, OnePlus 2 will be available in two RAM variants; one with 4GB and another is with 6GB RAM. There will be also a difference between internal phone memory, 32, 64 and 128GB. The device comes with Snapdragon 820, 16MP rear and 8MP front facing shooter.OnePlus 3 doesn’t seem to be coming with expandable storage slot. However, it is a dual SIM (nano) that may offer using one slot for expandable memory. Oppomart also stats that it comes with a 3650mAh embeddable (removable) battery. As far as design is concerned, OnePlus follows the suite of other Chinese makers that are master in copying design from popular brands. Look at its back panel and you will find it highly inspired by HTC phones rear.OnePlus 3 has installed fingerprint scanner on front face at home button. Being one of the favorite brand for those who love affordable and quality Chinese phones, there will be a sure head-to-head between LeEco, Vivo, Lenovo and other brands throwing upcoming phones with 6GB RAM.Powered with a 6GB RAM, Vivo Xplay5 Elite, in every way, is an absolute stunner. Whether it is its design, or its performance or its hardware quality, in almost everything it is perfect and breathtaking. It features a 5.43 inches curved 2K display guarded by Gorilla Glass 4.Vivo Xplay5 Elite running on a custom Android skin FunTouch on top of Android 6 Marshmallow. This phone has 128GB internal memory. However it doesn’t have an expandable memory slot. It sports a 16MP rear camera on its back at top left corner. Its front camera is 8MP.

No idea if you should trade in your Z5 compact. I think that screen is a tiny bit small for my taste… I liked the 5″ size in the hand, but wanted a bigger screen – it’s a trade off. Overall I’m happy with the 5.5″ screen and will get used to the size, I suppose.

Have you used a Zenfone 2? The performance is phenomenal. The build quality, not so much — definitely some cheap, cheap plastic around the edge of the front glass. Also, their software is stuck on Android 5.0 still, and loaded with bloatware. If anything is holding the Zenfone 2 back, it’s not the specs. Screen could be a little brighter, but it didn’t really bother me for the month or so that I used one.
I purchased the Zenfone 2 4GB model and the very first thing I did is unlocked the bootloader, rooted, flashed TWRP and flashed a custom ROM. The chef had removed most of ASUS bloat and just kept the essentials. The phone runs great. I haven’t had any issues whatsoever. I only have 2 complaints that is the home buttons don’t light up and it’s still on Lollipop. Can’t wait till the next version comes out.

I used to have the HTC One. At the time, it was the cheapest flagship. But now I have the ZTE Axon 7. It’s pretty much the same phone as the HTC 10. Except it’s $250 cheaper and has a 2 year full replacement warranty. If you break the phone and the warranty doesn’t cover it, then you can replace it for only $80. If the warranty covers it, then the replacement is free. You get unlimited replacements for 2 years.

I personally feel that I just purchased a discontinued device now and feel cheated out of $60 dollars of my hard earned money. Its bad enough that Asus takes forever to update their firmware as millions of people are constantly begging for update to Android v6.0 Marshmallow for almost 1 year now not to mention that Google just announced and even released Android v7 (N), but now making the device discontinued is just a huge slap in the face to everyone owning a ZenFone 2 Deluxe (special edition).

So basically I purchased a brand new phone from Amazon for around $460 at the time of purchase. and its suppose to be a brand new phone. The product malfunction is the fault of the manufacture and not of the customer. And Asus is going to give me back a used previously broken device that’s from someone else’s RMA problems to me, after I spent $460 dollars on my what is suppose to be a “brand new device”, I worked hard to save and purchase ?..
AFAIK, however, ASUS has been one of the better ones when it comes to updates, so MM should come to it after the Zenfone 2 gets its Marshmallow treatment.

I was going to make fun of the 6.8 inch “mobile” phone but then I realized that aside from the occasional brief phone call, I always use a Bluetooth headset when making calls anyway, so my phone is hardly ever up to my ear anyway.

I was holding off getting a new phone to replace my Nexus 6 and my criteria included a 7″ screen among other features like NFC and Qi charging. The ZF3 Deluxe hit almost all of the features – except size. The ZF3 Ultra hits size, but misses out on everything else. But I was prepared to order one in anyway from a ‘grey marketer’ until I noticed that it doesn’t support LTE Band 4, which is the main band in North America.
Battery capacity: 4,600mAh, reverse charging or external charger/power bank, Quick Charge 3.0
The Asus Zenfone 3 is fuelled by a 3,000mAh li-ion battery for running the device. The presence of a USB Type-C port allows improved charging and data transfer speeds. Connectivity features include dual SIM slots, 4G, 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS/A-GPS, Bluetooth v4.1, USB port, microUSB and GLONASS.
The ZenFone Max is powered by a quad-core, Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 410 processor that clocks at 1 GHz. With 2 GB LPDDR3 RAM, the processor pushes multitasking further, allowing users to play 3D games or edit HD videos seamlessly. The device features LTE Category 4 for download speeds of up to 150Mbps and Dual SIM standby.
Sir does it have fast charging and nfc?

So far today just over 6 hours screen on time at 40% battery. Mostly web, YouTube, camera / video, chat / social. Screen on full brightness auto, about half WiFi half mobile data.
Higher pixel density: 441 ppi vs 424 ppi
If it had an unlocked bootloader and they released the kernel source it might be ok… the hardware isn’t bad it’s dev and sw support that maybe lacking… a promise for MM update wouldn’t hurt either.

$200-300 is still a lot for an off-brand mid-range device when you can get used-but-in-great-condition previous-year flagships for around $200 (or sometimes less). Heck, you can sometimes find brand-new previous-year flagships for around $200.
Micro SIM
With the Zenfone 3, Asus has finally managed to shed off its bulky design trend and has adopted slim and premium looks. It has also loaded it up with a powerful configuration, latest operating system and fast charging support. The Asus Zenfone 3 indeed seems like a desirable device.

As is clear from the above, we can see that there are only three 6GB RAM mobile phones announced so far and their availability on the market is also not even. But it doesn’t take a rocket-scientist to figure out that soon the smartphone market is going to be flooded with 6GB RAM phones. First 2GB, then 3GB, then 4GB and now 6GB, what is next, what the future has in store: 8GB, 16 GB and so on, perhaps only time will tell. Before we conclude, one question still needs to be answered, though: When Apple is doing well with a 2GB RAM in its iPhone, why Android phone makers are engaged in this never-ending competition to equip their phones with more and more RAM and more-than-ever powerful CPU? Maybe we already have an answer: As far as the software optimization and a better performance while using a light hardware are concerned, Android still has miles to go before it is on par with iOS. That said, who cares about iPhone, as long as you can get omnipotent smartphones at this price.

2)Very big as well weighty.Unable to manage.
Consumer electronics show CES is one of the biggest tech events of the year, similar to Mobile World Congress, and we expect CES 2017 to showcase a truck load of new gadgets, TVs, cars and initiatives that’ll take our breath away. The one thing that defines CES is virtually all the world’s tech manufacturers getting together to launch the next big thing in technology, kickstarting the trends for 2017 and showing off all the hot products to get excited about. We’ve been covering all the news that matters, as well as bringing you our first impressions and insights into 2017’s tech, as CES 2017 has unveiled its tech treats.Believe it or not, although Amazon isn’t really at CES in any form, it’s managed to walk into just about every product. That’s because Amazon’s Alexa is behind a lot of the interesting technology that’s launching at CES. There’s Alexa-power fridges, Alexa-powered cars, Alexa-powered lights. There’s Alexa in so many forms, it’s a complete smart home white wash from Amazon.Asus has used CES 2017 to give us another choice when it comes to choosing a Google Tango smartphone. The new ZenFone AR is a smartphone built for 3D scanning, working with Tango, helping you capture the world around you in more dimensions. It also happens to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset and support Google’s Daydream VR platform too.Asus has also released one of the most interesting Chromebooks we’ve seen so far, the Asus Chromebook Flip, or C302, to use its official name. This is a flexible device, with the display folding right back on itself for tablet mode, with a 12.5-inch display. The Flip is also one of the more powerful Chromebooks to be released so far, meaning it should make for a great portable Google machine.BlackBerry lives on! Well, the hardware moved over to TCL who will me using the BlackBerry name under license. TCL was also on hand to show off this, the widely-rumoured Mercury. This keyboard touting smartphone was shown off in prototype form, offering a touch and type arrangement, giving you the full Android BlackBerry experience that made it’s debut on the Priv. Since then we’ve seen the DTEK range launch, and there’s rumours that this device will be called the DTEK70 when it launches.Casio has launched an updated version of its rugged outdoor watch, the WSD-F20. This newer version of the Android Wear 2.0 watch offers a dual-layer display, able to slip into a lower power monochrome mode for simple tasks like checking the time. With a tweak to enhance the rugged looks, the new model also supercharges GPS, enabling offline mapping and navigation for when you’re truely disconnected. The new Casio WSD-F20 will be available from 21 April 2017, price to be confirmed.Dell has used CES 2017 to announce an exciting development of the XPS – a 2-in-1 hybrid version. The Dell XPS has long been seen as one of the hottest notebooks around, but now there’s an XPS 13 2-in-1 to take on the likes of the Microsoft Surface Book. There’s also choices of Full HD or Quad HD displays, plenty of connectivity and fingerprint scanners for security.Faraday Future is a relatively new company, only being founded in 2014. It focuses on the development of intelligent electric vehicles and has already delivered a concept car in the form of the FF Zero 1 and is even involved with Formula E. The company used CES 2017 to unveil the FF91, it’s car of the future. The FF91 is a luxury electric car, claiming a Tesla-beating 0-60 time of 2.39 seconds, and offering a full run of autonomous features, like self driving and self parking. It houses a 130kWh battery offering 378 miles range, offers window dimming with a tap of the finger for privacy and more technology than you can shake a stick at. Reservations are open for $5000, right now, but there’s no word on the final cost.Garmin has announced a new Fenix sports watch, bringing variety to one of the most potent fitness devices available. The Garmin Fenix 5 comes in a chunky 47mm size, but is also available in 42mm if you opt for the Fenix 5S, meaning that this adventurer’s watch is suitable for a wider range of wrist sizes. Then there’s the 5X which gets larger and throws in mapping too.Honor has announced the Honor 6X, a budget smartphone that offers a surprising number of top-spec features, like a dual camera on the rear. Priced at about £225, the new Honor 6X is a 5.5-inch full HD smartphone, with the pairing of a 12-megapixel and 2-megapixel camera on the rear, the second lens offering things like bokeh effects. The Honor 6X is surprisingly well-built and although offers mid-range power, it looks like one of the hottest mid-range devices around.HP has announced an update to its Spectre x360 notebooks, giving you the latest hardware in a lovely premium and flexible design. Cast in aluminium, the hinge will let you set the display at just about any angle you want, including folding it all the way flat. That display is available in 4K, which is almost edge to edge in its coverage. An impressive looking machine, the Spectre x360 is likely to be one of the hottest Windows devices to come out of CES.Here’s the company’s fix: the Mate 9 Pro, which is 99 per cent the Porsche Design version in white or silver skin. It won’t cost half as much either. Well, if it ever makes it out of China – which is the only country it’s confirmed for release at present. We think the Pro is a great-looking phone. It’s very close in look to the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge. And given how well that phone has gone down this year, Huawei would be mad to not get the Pro ranged the world over. We’re rather excited by this 5.5-inch phone.Lenovo has announce a wide range of updates to its notebooks, but the Miix 720 looks to be an exciting prospect and a real alternative to the Surface Pro 4. Weighing just over a 1kg and with a 12-inch display, there’s the latest Intel Core processors, up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. There’s whole range of connectivity, from USB and Thunderbolt 3 through to SD card slot, as well as a battery that claims to last for 8 hours.Lenovo has also unveiled its own version of Amazon’s Echo, in the form of the Smart Assistant. The name might be a little boring, but using Alexa’s platform, this smart speaker will perform the sorts of tasks that the Echo will. Best of all, there’s a range of different colours, as well as a Harman Kardon version that promises to improve the sound quality.LG announced a range of products before CES started, making way for the big announcements at the show. And big they were. Leading the pack is the LG Signature OLED TV W, a TV that is as minimal as TV gets. Only 2.5mm thick, this is essentially OLED wallpaper that sticks to your wall using magnets. Oh, and it comes with a Dolby Atmos soundbar, for good measure.Aside from the signature television, LG has updated its “regular” OLED TVs, launching the G7, E7, C7 and B7, follow similar demarcations as its 2016 line. Only now these OLED TVs are 25 per cent brighter and they all support the full range of HDR formats – HDR 10, Dolby Vision, HLG and Advanced HDR by Technicolor.Following the Dolby theme, LG kept going, launching an Ultra HD blu-ray player that supports Dolby Vision, the first to do so. But more interestingly LG also embraced Alexa, announcing the LG Hub Robot, a cuter take on Amazon’s Echo, and also stuffed Alexa into a fridge. Yes, that’s right, a fridge with webOS.Netatmo has used CES 2017 to announce plans to future connect your smart home. The first big announcement was a partnership with Velux, the window manufacturer. Adapting the Velux Integra windows with increased connectivity, you’ll be able to control your windows with your smartphones as well as have integration with Netatmo’s sensors. Bad air quality in the apartment? Your Velux Active roof windows can automatically open for fresh air.In addition to hooking up with Velux, Netatmo has also launched a Smart Smoke Alarm. As the name suggests, this is a connected smoke detector that can send alerts to your phone when smoke is detected. Taking it a step further, with HomeKit and IFTTT compatibility you can ensure that your lights are turned on when the alarm goes off, or you get pictures from your home camera. That’s right, that company you associate with sports shoes and apparel as stepped out and launched a couple of connected running devices. The New Balance RunIQ is an Android Wear smartwatch aimed at runners, offering GPS and heart-rate monitoring, as well as water protection. It’s joined by the PaceIQ headphones, built by Jabra, which connect to the watch and feature a button to press to get real-time updates on your run session.Nvidia has announced a new Shield TV set-top box that’s fully-loaded with entertainment potential, offering Android gaming, Android TV, as well as positioning itself as a Google Assistant-power smart hub. The main points of interest will likely be the 4K and HDR support, meaning you’ll going to get some awesome quality streaming from services like Netflix.Expanding on the Shield TV and really making the new set-top box a smart home hub is the Shield Spot. This innovative little device plugs into the wall and connects to the console via Wi-Fi, meaning you can access Google Assistant all around your house. “Ok Google, turn on the lights”, and the Shield Spot will send that to the TV box to make it happen. The Panasonic EZ1002 sees the company launching an OLED TV, something that was the preserve of LG over the past few years. Panasonic is claiming that this will be a 4K HDR master, thanks to the boosted brightness that the company has achieved, important for those dramatic contrast effects that HDR is known for.Panasonic is also continuing its push to get Ultra HD Blu-ray in as many homes as possible, lining up three new players, the UB400, UB310 and UB300. These players will differ slightly in spec, meaning that there’s a range of options and hopefully prices points – which are yet to be revealed.Of course Panasonic isn’t only about displaying 4K, it’s also about capture and with the new Lumix GH5, 4K video capture is taken very seriously. This flagship compact system camera offers some high-end features for videographers, but also promises to be the highest quality Lumix that Panasonic has released so far, with a new 20-megapixel sensor, new in-body stabilisation, and lots of options. Priced at £1699 (body only), the GH5 will be available in March. If you’re looking for something a little more compact, then the Lumix GX800 might be the camera for you. This is the smallest and cheapest of the Lumix G family at £499 with lens, but still packs a punch with 4K capture and plenty of controls. With some nice retro colour options (like Tan and Orange), this is a system camera you can just about squeeze into your pocket.Qualcomm has used CES 2017 to double-down on the message that the Snapdragon 835 will be driving the the flagship smartphones of 2017. The new chipset shrinks in size, but increases the power and the connectivity options, supporting the latest protocols like Bluetooth 5 and ad Wi-Fi. We’re yet to hear what devices the SD835 will appear in, but all eyes now turn to Mobile World Congress 2017.Thing got really cool, however, with the announcement of the new line-up of QLED TVs. Announcing an updated approach to last year’s SUHD TVs, it’s now all about QLED for Samsung, promising double the brightness, peaking at 2000 nits and promising rich colours from that Quantum Dot layer. With little clue as to Sony’s plans, the company pulled a blinder, revealing an OLED TV – the Bravia A1 – which combines not only stunning picture quality, but uses the entire screen as a speaker. Called Acoustic Surface, the stand then doubles as a subwoofer. Exactly what happens when you mount it on the wall, we don’t quite know. There’s Dolby Vision support too on this 4K TV that leaves us in no doubt at all that Sony still knows how to innovate. Not neglecting LED TVs, Sony has also announced a full line-up of refreshed XE series televisions, from the XE94 at the top in 77-inch size, then dropping down to the XE93 in a wide variety of sizes. These top sets also support Dolby Vision and use Sony’s Slim Backlight Drive+ system, aiming to give better dimming to ensure contrast and accuracy without bleed. Down through the XE90, XE85 and XE80, each step losing a feature or two, there’s a 4K HDR TV for just about anyone.Sony is doubling up on Dolby Vision support, launching a Ultra HD Blu-ray player that also supports the advanced HDR format. With at least six mainstream Ultra HD Blu-ray players launching at CES 2017, it looks like the format is really taking hold. Sony also supports Dolby Atmos, has twin HDMI outputs and should cost around £400.

Also due note, ZenFone 2 Deluxe (Special Edition) has only been release to the public around March of 2015. – My actual device is stamped being manufactured on December 2015. And already Asus has “Discontinued” the device on all online store platforms. Yup, you heard right, Asus already discontinued the smartphone device. I purchased the device 4 months prior to them having it discontinued. So already a device I spent $460 on is already discontinues and considered old. The only thing keeping my device afloat is its 7 month warranty that it has left on the device.
Zenfone 5 is an older generation. There was also a Zenfone 4, so I guess they were named for their screen size. The Zenfone 2 family is like a sequel to those Zenfones.
You’ll never miss the action with the ZenFone Zoom’s laser auto-focus, which can point and shoot with complete clarity in just 0.03 seconds. I really want the Zenfone 3, but it is very annoying that they still haven’t said when it’s supposed to come to the US. I don’t get that. What is making it so difficult? And seriously, they’d better bring the aqua blue color here. Or I’m flipping tables. My patience is running thin.
its not locked to the device anymore, you can chage your UI when ever you want now. just FYI
So, to resume: the phone has only good aspects, because “the not so good” chart has only personal preferences from David that not impact the usage of the phone (the bottom bezel doesn’t need to be hold because you can put your pinkie at the bottom of the phone to stabilize it at your hand, if you drop the phone the front panel probably will shatter so the back is the least of your problem, loud audio from the internal speaker is the characteristic that really matter about sound on a smartphone and most of pre-installed apps can be unistalled)

The picture quality is pretty good, even in the low light scenes, and the camera app has just about every manual feature I could want. It probably can’t compete with the Galaxy S7, but then again, the S7 can’t even come close on price. Oh, and it shoots in 4K.

Overall, the ZenFone 3 is an excellent mid-range, mid-2016 smartphone. The low points for me are some aspects of the design, the audio quality, and the software bloat. The high points are basically everything else: it’s fast and smooth, the screen is bright (but could be better in direct sun), the camera shoots 4K video, and some of the ZenUI apps are actually useful. Best thing about it? It’s only $250-300, unlocked.

No, there aren’t. When discussing consumer goods, value is always a measure of performance (or features) considering the cost. When one says “value for money,” it’s redundant. Like, no one would say, “the Prius delivers good fuel economy per gallon,” right?
True. The Wifi and GPS on my friends Asus Zenfone Laser 2 is buggy and even Marshmallow didnt fix it. And I hate the bloat. I prefer the Alcatel Idol 3 4.7Inch, and its cheaper.

The ZenFone 4.5 is the 4.5-inch WVGA (854×480) TFT display model. Using the same processor as the ZenFone 4 and having 8GB of internal storage, 1GB of RAM and a MicroSD Card Slot supporting up to 64GB Storage, it does have a better rear camera than the ZenFone 4. The phone carries an 8 MP rear camera, and uses the same 0.3MP front camera as the ZenFone 4 does. This phone comes with 2 GB of RAM in comparison to other models and features at a competitive price. However, some of the earlier productions and certain variants of this phone came with 1 GB of RAM.The ZenFone 6 is the 6-inch 1280×720 IPS display. The ZenFone 6 features a 2 GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2580 processor, a 13 megapixel rear camera and 2 megapixel front-facing camera. As soon as I got the pushbullet notif. for this article, I was really hoping it may have an US release date, alas, it does not. A great article nonetheless. Thanks for confirming the two size. After watching tens of foreign review video and reading a bunch about the specs, none were at all consistent.

Half of 2017 has passed and it’s a good time to discuss some top upcoming smartphones of 2017 as well as the upcoming new year. This year, Samsung set a new standard of design for flagships by bringing in the Infinity display and it won over the public. Expect this trend to continue with upcoming flagship phones. Another new tech that will be seen more is Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4.0 +. It will make future flagships fuel up in a matter of minutes. Further, faster processors, more RAM and of course even better cameras that will make your laptop blush are all in store. That’s not all even mid-range smartphones have gotten very good. The gap between mid-range and top of the range has become less and less. Thanks to the Chinese. So here we are. Taking a look at the best of the best in the upcoming smartphones of 2017.Apple has released iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus recently, and both devices are a huge hit. But people are already looking for the next upcoming flagship smartphone from Apple as the next device will get some significant changes in terms of Design, UI, and Software. There’s a new rumor about iPhone that Apple might skip iPhone 7s and go for iPhone 8. Apple iPhone 7 Plus already has Dual Camera integrated so the next year’s Apple 8 will get some. Next year is Apple’s 10th Anniversary, and it is expected iPhone will get an entirely new makeover.New Update: It is now heard that Apple will launch three smartphones this year. Two of them will be Apple iPhone 7S and iPhone 7S Plus and another device will be a high-end device code-named Ferrari. Apple is also working to make iPhones in India so that they can cut the price in the Indian market. iPhone 6s was a huge hit in India, and iPhone 8 will also be another one of the best upcoming smartphones in India for 2017.We have got numerous updates on iPhone 8 and all of them are pointing towards a Bezel-less display. But this year Apple has no time left to implement In-screen Fingerprint sensor. It is also heard that the iPhone 8 production will be delayed by a month because of supply chain problems.5.8-inch 2K AMOLED curved edge display

I’ve been using the ZenFone2 for over a year, now, replacing my old Nexus5. It’s a good phone. Could some things be better? Of course, but find me a device that couldn’t. I’m willing to give ASUS a second chance when I’m done with this one, and that’s really all an OEM can ask for…

Kids Mode, which is almost the same as Easy Mode except you need to enter a PIN to access other apps, answer phone calls, or leave Kids Mode. One thing I found rather frustrating was that the quick launch buttons (the ones in the notification shade) are divided into two sections, labeled ambiguously as “tools” (green) and “items” (blue), and you must have exactly 4 “tools” (one row) and either 8 or 12 “items” (2 or 3 rows). I found that I only wanted 2 of the “tools” but 10 of the “items”, which also adds up to 12, but is not a possible choice. This is pretty stupid.I tried Need For Speed: No Limits and as a (very) casual gamer, I am more than satisfied with the performance of the ZenFone 3. Sure, it’s not as fast as the Snapdragon 820 (or now the 821), with undoubtedly slower benchmarks and all of that jazz. But you know what? It runs smoothly without any discernible lag or choppiness, and the graphics look about as good as they get on phones. Good enough for me, and I would say good enough for the majority of casual gamers.Indirectly related to gaming, there is also a pretty cool feature ASUS has included called Game Genie. As the name suggests, it’s meant for gamers, but you can in fact use it in any app. It’s essentially just a screencasting tool that allows you to simultaneously record the screen, the front facing video camera, and microphone in a single video. Watch me play Need For Speed:Note: the slight choppiness in the video is not there with Game Genie turned off – I guess the graphics rendering struggles a bit while simultaneously recording the screen and front-facing camera.I stopped by the local zoo to test out the camera, and I’m very happy with the performance for the price of this device. Manual focus, exposure, and shutter speed definitely allow for some better looking pics than the auto mode, although auto is OK for a quick point and shoot. One thing is noticeable about the camera immediately: it’s fast. For the autofocus and for the actual image capture; both feel very, very fast. You can even shoot in rapid fire succession and sort through your pics afterwards to find the best ones, I got up to about 15 photos before the camera app finally paused for a moment to work on the processing. After 1-2 seconds it was ready to go again.Night time pics are not great. There is a lot of blooming, and backlit signage is practically invisible. The picture looks a bit grainy as well if you zoom in, presumably because of the higher ISO setting. Daytime pics, however, look really good. These pics were taken “mostly auto,” i.e., in manual mode but with most of the options set to auto. You can see in the filename whether or not the photo was taken with HDR mode on (if the filename ends with “HDR_On”). The video camera records in 4K, and the clip below was shot in full auto mode and uploaded directly to YouTube.

Despite using a 12-megapixel sensor, Selfie Pro actually takes 24-megapixel shots, thanks to its use of two photodiodes per microlens on the sensor. In theory, this means low-light performance is reduced, but the presence of a front-facing flash should go some way towards compensating for this.On the back of the ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro, there’s a fairly standard 16-megapixel camera. And powering the whole assembly is a Snapdragon 625 processor — a last-gen component, but still a solid chip — plus 4GB of RAM, providing dependable performance and enabling 4K selfie video. (You likely won’t be able to see much difference on the built-in display, though, which once again is a 5.5-inch 1080p panel.)

The unfortunate thing is that for many, a phone launching in 2016 running an OS that’s from late 2014 paints a bleak picture of future update timelines.
On the ZenFone 4 Pro, you get the same main camera behind a brighter f/1.7 lens, but this time the second camera does 2X optical zoom. Again, the secondary camera isn’t as good in low light — a common thing for dual-lens phones — with its f/2.6 lens. But you do at least get a hardware-enabled portrait mode in the ZenFone 4 Pro; the vanilla ZenFone 4’s portrait mode relies solely on software to create the illusion of depth behind your subject.

HTC 10 already has those features. HTC makes some of the best phones if not the best all around flagships on the market. They are hugely underrated. HTC has led the smartphone market to what it is today, just look around HTC’s innovation is easy to spot. All metal body, antenna bands, dual cameras, dual stereo speakers, live photos, 5-8MP front camera, powerful hi-res audio, hi-res microphones, they were also the first to opt for lower resolution for larger pixels (which they were originally criticized for, yet others have begun doing the same). I mean these are just a few of that which HTC has contributed to the smartphone industry (and you don’t see them suing everyone for copying their innovation, like some manufacturers lol). A lot of people don’t even know that HTC is the first Android to support Apple Airplay, and the 10 DOES feature water resistance . HTC needs to bring back an improved version of the dual camera with higher resolution. The HTC M8 took AMAZING pictures, with the low resolution of the camera only being negative, and even that was only noticeable when zoomed in all the way, the HTC m8 took some of the best pictures I’ve seen from a smartphone. Another big feature of HTC is the touch response, HTC was the first to have a touch response below 50ms, and to this day their flagships have some of the fastest touch response of any phone, if not the fastest. HTC gets the earliest Android updates outside of Google’s own phones. Water resistance seems to be the new craze, yet what does it matter if the phone is submergable ? It still can’t take pictures under water, and considering your FAR more likely to drop your phone and break it, a durable design is more important. Even the HTC has you covered in every worst case scenario, featuring a durable all metal body, water resistance (for rain, or the shower), and even if that doesn’t protect your phone, HTC offers FREE Uh-Oh protection replacing your phone in any worst case scenario (you will have a hard time finding that anywhere else). Besides chances are if you drop your phone in a lake, stream, pond, or ocean, chance are you won’t get your phone back anyways lol, narrowing the fully submergable water resistance down to pools, and puddles lol. JUST SAYING….. Also I just want to say, every year I hear people talk up the upcoming iPhone with all these fantastic features and changes and it always comes out looking just like the last one, with what seems like HTC inspired features lol. We will have to see I guess.

I can’t wait to buy one. I think it’s a bargain, even at $300 for the 5.5″ model. Included is a certified High Res audio player. A stand alone High Res player with 24 bit/192k oversampling will cost you $300. The camera is great too with the Sony IMX298 CMOS sensor. Manufacturers set a lowest advertised price and it pretty much stays there until the product is set to be replaced by a newer model. Take the Zenfone 2 laser for instance. Retail is $250 and 8-9 months after it’s introduction it’s still $230. Maybe there will be a sale in a few months but if $50 makes that much of a difference then maybe you should skip cell phones altogether because the service plan will be more than you can afford.
Granted, these are not unique to ASUS, but coming from Sony (soft keys FTW), I am not a fan. I like to have that extra bottom bezel to hold the device with my thumb. Also, there’s no backlight, so they are impossible to see in the dark. (Yeah, I know, there are only 3 and they’re pretty easy to remember, but a backlight would be nice – doesn’t Taiwan overproduce LEDs anyway?)

Lenovo Zuk 2 Pro is another 6GB RAM phone. It too comes in two variants: one 4GB and another 6GB. Zuk 2 Pro uses the Snapdragon 820 CPU, with the Adreno 530 GPU. It boasts a 5.2-inch, Full HD Super AMOLED display.Lenovo Zuk 2 Pro lets us take images of high clarity and resolution with a 13MP primary camera and a front camera of 8MP. Talking about the design, Zuk 2 Pro is wrapped inside a highly ergonomic and elegant looking body. As it is trending, its screen is slightly curved at edges making it a 2.5D curved. Unlike other Lenovo phones which are equipped with a fingerprint scanner, this device sports a sensor on top of home button. For reasons unknown, unfortunately like other 6GB RAM phones mentioned above, Zuk Z2 Pro also lacks an expandable memory slot. Its 6GB variant comes with 128GB internal memory that is high enough to store large videos, games and a good number of HD images. This mind bubbling device is available in China for pre-order at CNY 2699 ($400 approx.) and may soon be available in other countries also. Those who can’t wait for its launch in their country, can pre-order it directly from China-based retail websites like (we have seen it listed there).
You’re absolutely right. Since this phone is already going to be bulky, why not add the 5000 mah battery found in the Zenfone Max and kill two birds with one stone…. I would buy two of those in a heartbeat.

Everything was looking fairly good for Asus, until the fact that they are releasing their phone in 2016 WITHOUT Marshmallow. Just doesn’t make sense. They delayed it this long, might as well have the latest OS. I know it’s easier said than done but we’re talking about making a splash at one of the biggest electronics shows.

Very good point, and while we are at it what about all those tablets that are still on 5.0…Asus needs to suppport current products to a least one new version of Andoid: 6.01 or I will not buy anything in the future from them. One thing is looking certain all the Intel based stuff are orphans from now on, probably even the tablets…

Why? Just why? And why does this seem to be so popular these days from many different manufacturers? It looks good; not great. It gets smudged to hell, instantly, every time you hold the device. It can shatter, just like the front, and would be just as difficult to replace. I’ll take unbreakable, unsmudgeable plastic over glass on the back of a budget phone any day of the week.

I’m not sure about that, because I didn’t check in between uninstalling the included apps and installing my own. I don’t think it would be much different though since the games were not actually installed from the factory – they were just buttons to download from the Play Store.
I’m curious on this too. Surprised there hasn’t been an OEM who has offered both an S660 and 835 variant of a premium device, given how similar the two are, but could be used to differentiate, say 64 and 128GB variants.

No, but nice try, but said “value for THE money, which is different from the common British idiom. Also, a valuable product is always one thats benefits are worth the cost. A Toyota is not a great value because it is a car that can take get you to work on time, it’s only a good value if you can’t get a better car for the price. The best car for the price is the best overall value. A Rolex is valuable, too, if you think a watch is worth thousands of dollars. However, for most people, a $20 Timex is a better value. (See? No “for money” needed. It’s clear without it.)

Do you know this thing about Asus ZenFones? Almost all of them — and remember, there are lots of them — have been designed to solve a definite purpose. The Zoom for instance has been designed to take photos up close and personal, the Selfie has been designed to click that perfect selfie and the Laser has been designed to make smartphone photography accessible to the masses. Not to forget its new batch of ZenFone 3s have been designed to offer top-tier specs and design at relatively mainstream prices. Likewise, the Max has been designed to end all your battery woes.Asus launched the original ZenFone Max in India last year. Its USP being the massive 5,000mAh battery and a Max moniker that left little to the imagination. Sadly, this smartphone was all about the battery, and as a result everything else took a back seat. Asus was quick to realise that the Max wasn’t exactly setting the cash counters ticking for the company. Hence came the ZenFone Max 2016, or as I like to call it, the ZenFone Max 2.0.The Max 2016 has been designed to correct the original’s — processor and memory — shortcomings while keeping other things intact. The best part about the new Max is that it doesn’t try to do too many things, but keeps them simple. The focus is still solely on battery, and battery alone. Only this time, it seems better prepared to stand as a value-for-money contender as well. The new ZenFone Max retains the design — and build materials — of the older ZenFone Max. They are both one and the same. The phone consists of two pieces of polycarbonate held together by a Chrome frame. Essentially, it’s all plastic but the carefully disguised copper frame adds some visual variety to an otherwise bland and boring smartphone. The back panel, which is removable, comes with the look and feel of embossed leather, according to Asus. In reality, it is all-plastic with matte finish. The material used is very similar to the one used in the Coolpad Note 3. The Max does look and feel slightly more premium than the Coolpad Note 3, but keep it next to the Xiomi Redmi Note 3, the LeEco Le 2, the Meizu M3 Note or even the Honor 5C and it looks out of place.Asus has taken a lot longer to give its ZenFones the all-metal treatment as compared to rival companies. It is now possible to buy an all-metal premium phone at just Rs 7,000. That’s not necessarily good news for the Taiwanese tech major. The new ZenFone Max — although well-built for its price — lacks the kind of excitement that phones like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 bring to the table. You absolutely have to be a fan of the typical Asus ZenFone design in order to appreciate its ‘utilitarian’ beauty. An all-plastic built isn’t the only problem with the Max 2.0. The phone is carrying a very hefty battery inside — in fact the largest in its price category — so understandably it weighs a lot. At 202 grams, it is heavy and at 10.5 mm, it is also among the thickest phones at its price point. Moreover, the phone has chunky bezels that add significant visual girth to it. It would have done better had Asus chosen not to include physical capacitive buttons at the bottom. Whatever be the case, this is a big phone.Although the back panel is removable, the battery isn’t. Two different SIM card slots and a microSD card slot lie underneath the rear cover. Thankfully, the matte finish on the back and the phone’s curvaceous frame help enhance grip and one-handed usability. The volume rocker and the power button on the right — although plastic — have a distinct texture that adds to the overall look and feel. Sadly, they appear loose and flimsy and offer very less travel. The screen’s low brightness levels and its reflective nature add up to make outdoor legibility a challenge on the phone. This is not a phone that you would want to watch too many videos on or do a lot of texting on when you’re out and about.Although there’s some heavy skinning involved, it’s nice to see Asus sticking to the formula of ease-of-use and some thoughtful customisations through its UI. Practically every aspect of Google’s Android gets a fresh coat of paint, something that is sure to irk stock Android fanatics. Funky animations and gaudy colour schemes are occasional annoying but overlook some of these to see the bigger picture. Even though Zen UI lacks the aesthetics and simplicity of stock Android, it is one of the better UIs out there in terms of ease of use. It’s visibly lightweight in comparison to say Lenovo’s Vibe UI. Asus’ Zen UI feels slightly more polished in comparison. Sadly, it isn’t as fluid as Xiaomi’s MIUI.A number of customisation options that are available are handy and pretty useful. The ability to tinker with the app drawer (as well as the home screen) to suite your needs is worth mentioning. So is the option to selectively lock your apps for additional privacy. There’s also an option for screen pinning to keep the current screen in view until you unpin. A home-brewed theme engine — along with additional icon packs — meanwhile helps personalise your experience. On the downside, Asus’ penchant for unwanted apps or bloat continues with the ZenFone Max 2.0 as well. The phone’s loaded with unwanted apps, some of which cannot be uninstalled. The fact that some of the Asus proprietary apps keep updating by the millisecond and unnecessarily keep asking for permission to do this and do that can be frustrating. The company is offering the new ZenFone Max in 2GB RAM and 3GB RAM variants. While the 2GB RAM variant has been priced at Rs 9,999 the 3GB RAM version costs Rs 12,999. 4G LTE is supported. NFC isn’t (not that it matters). The new Max, when you look at it on paper, seems like a good-enough upgrade over the outgoing model. Not long ago, Motorola did something similar with the Moto G3, when it launched the Moto G3 Turbo. So, is the Max 2.0 a turbocharged version of the original Max? No, not really. The phone feels literally the same in actual usage which means you will have to bear the occasional lag while app switching and navigating between home screens, every once in a while. Apps open and close with slight delay as well. It’s still not that bad you know. The Max is a pretty good phone in terms of all-round performance. But, competition has moved even further. You get flagship-class hardware in phones that cost around Rs 10,000 these days. The Max 2.0 on the other hand feels slow in comparison. And it gets warm, noticeably, at times when you’re pushing it.The single speaker vent on the back of the phone churns average at best audio. It gets loud (when it is not placed back facing down) but there is some distortion at peak volume.Phone calls made with the Max 2.0 are of acceptable quality and we did not encounter any odd call drops on our review unit. The dualSIM phone supports 4G LTE on one SIM, while the other SIM tray supports 2G-only SIM.Coming to the main USP of the phone, the ZenFone Max 2.0 uses a 5,000mAh battery which is non-removable. Battery life in a word is fantastic. It’s not as stellar as the previous version, because the Snapdragon 615 isn’t as efficient (power and heat) as the Snapdragon 410. But it is close. While heavy usage — that saw us playing lots of games, 1080p video playback, phone calls, web browsing and managing multiple social media accounts — gave us close to one full day (24 hours), mixed usage gave us close to two days, on the device. A more generalised usage should see most users sail through two to two and a half days effortlessly. In addition, the Max 2.0 also boasts of outstanding standby time, and loses almost no charge when you keep it untouched overnight. Marshmallow’s Doze feature also plays it part well here. While battery life is phenomenal, it’s disappointing that the phone doesn’t support a fast charge technology akin to Motorola’s Turbocharging and does not ship with a fast charger. Instead, the Max 2.0 ships with a regular charger and takes an awfully long time to charge completely. The new Max sports a 13-megapixel camera on the rear with f/2.0-aperture, Laser Auto Focus and a dual-LED flash along with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, much like the older Max. And just like the previous model, the new Max also offers only average camera output. The rear sensor is a mixed bag when it comes to focusing although shutter speed is pretty good.Photos clicked in good lighting, especially outdoors, are marred by metering issues which results in overexposed (or washed out) photos in bright and sunny environment. Dark or shadow areas, meanwhile, come out under-exposed. Even though colours are mostly true to source in some of these photos (particularly in areas where lighting is evenly balanced) all in all the level of detail goes for a serious toss most of the time. Dynamic range is average at best.Photos clicked in indoor well-lit situations however come out well with good amount of detail. There is some noise associated with these photos. Images clicked in low light have some metering issues and excessive noise or grain as well.Selfies clicked with the phone’s front camera are satisfactory. Apart from some rare metering issues (often resulting in washed out photos), there’s not much to complain about the Max 2.0’s selfie cam, especially at its price point. The new ZenFone Max is deja vu all over again. It’s not very different from last year’s ZenFone Max you know. The only changes it brings about is a next-generation (but not necessarily faster) processor and Android Marshmallow out-of-the-box. Everything else remains the same. While having Marshmallow is nice, it’s not something that would matter to most buyers. It is because, most of Asus ZenFones are in line to get the Marshmallow update anyway. As for the — improved — processor, well, it does little to improve overall performance of the new phone. The Snapdragon 615 made more sense in a phone running near stock Android, like the Moto G Turbo. In the case of the Max 2.0, the only visible change the new processor brings about is perhaps, some overheating on prolonged usage. Moreover, the 3GB RAM variant makes no sense at all at its atrocious pricing.Asus ZenFone Max 20167/10

Last year, Asus succeeded in surprising me with the ZenFone 2. This year, it’s still the case. The ZenFone 3 is an accomplished smartphone that will please the public. The Taiwanese manufacturer has succeeded in achieving the higher standard that they wanted to reach this year. The phone has many advantages: premium design, good camera performance, a great screen and excellent battery life.
I have used both phones for a few times. The bugs I encountered with zenfone 2 were like, camera app freezing after taking a few shots, phone being freezed when receiving a call. I never saw any bug at all in the zenfone laser (snapdragon 615).

The original ZenFone would be two years old this month, but I doubt many of them are still in use. It was highly anticipated before release, and widely panned shortly thereafter. I have friends who bought the first generation ZenFone, and the issues were obvious right from the start: the battery couldn’t last half a day, the UI was clumsy and unresponsive, it got so hot you could barely hold it, and the build quality and design really weren’t up to par.A lot has changed in the last two years. The ZenFone 2 was well-received by our team and continues to be a good buy for the price. But ASUS has been hard at work, and I am happy to tell you that today, the ZenFone 3 is getting me that much closer to smartphone Nirvana: a good phone, and it’s cheap. Doesn’t look too bad, either. There are a lot of models to choose from in the new ASUS ZenFone lineup. Six, actually; or seven, if you count the ZenPad 3. The mid-range “vanilla” ZenFone 3 hit the shelves in Taiwan a couple of days ago, and I picked one up to replace my aging Sony Xperia ZL. I was torn between the 5.2″ ZE520KL and the 5.5″ ZE552KL, but eventually decided on paying the extra $60 and I’m glad that I did. Let me cut right to the chase: everything that was wrong with the ZenFone 2 Laser from our previous review has been fixed with the ZenFone 3, and then some. Well, almost everything: the software bloat remains.

I bought this with the expectation that it might never get N, or if it did that it almost definitely would not get O. To me it’s a decent trade off at this price, and definitely one of the reasons I wouldn’t have gotten the Deluxe.

After owning a plastic backed phone, I think I’m willing to sacrifice the removable backing for glass back with a case. I’ve had my Samsung Galaxy S5 for almost two years, although due to water damage I had to have it replaced a couple months ago. The first S5 cracked along the edge in the plastic backing and I think it eventually led to a small hole in my phone. The second S5 cracked in the exact same place, less than a couple months in. I’m not a special use case, I’m not abusing the phone. Sometimes it has a case on it, and others it doesn’t, but I’m not constantly dropping the phone or doing anything that should cause damage.

It built the apps and services by other companies on their devices, and it the model worked well for Google. Its search engine is overwhelmingly the most popular way to find information online. Its mobile operating system, Android, is on more than two billion devices worldwide. The Californian technology giant is now increasingly developing its own hardware products, from high-end smartphones to AI-powered smart speakers designed to control your home. 2016 was the year Google really began to move into the hardware space, and it intends to double down on those initial efforts in 2017.While Google, like many other tech companies, rarely talks about unannounced products, leaks and rumours still give us a glimpse at what it has in the pipeline.Google has been tinkering with virtual reality for years. First it had Cardboard, a super-budget version of VR that let users build a headset with nothing but their phone, two lenses, and a cardboard box. Then last year, it unveiled Daydream … which is basically the same as Cardboard, but with a fancier headset to put the phone in, a remote control, and some minimum technical requirements. It’s working with partners HTC and Lenovo to build headsets (they’ll each release their own), and it’s slated to come out at an unspecified date later this year, costing in the “mid-hundreds range.” It’s a big deal — VR headsets have typically required expensive gaming computers to run. But Google’s new headset won’t require any other device to function.Last year, Google announced the Google Pixel. It’s a high-end smartphone, designed to go toe-to-toe with Apple and show off the very best of Android. And it largely succeeds, receiving rave reviews from critics.Google has confirmed it will be launching a second-generation Pixel (and the Pixel XL, its larger-screened sibling) in 2017. Major slated changes include an almost edge-to-edge screen (like the one found in the Samsung Galaxy S8 and rumoured to be a feature of the forthcoming iPhone 8), waterproofing, and boosted internal specs.

The ZenFone 3 has a mid-range processor: the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625. Actually, it’s not correct to consider it as a mid-range processor because Qualcomm does all they can to offer more RAM and connectivity.

Wake up. It has an OPTICAL ZOOM. not that you probably know what that is since you’re concerned about FLAT. Enjoy your janky digital zoom on your pretty phone. And fimger print sensors on the back of a phone is just stupid.
