Great Tablet The Nexus 7 is a great wi-fi tablet. Archived from the original on July 9, I’ve loaded up Jet Set Radio, Dolphin, Labtech Control Center and a number of other apps to see how well it handles a variety of content. Samsung Galaxy Tab A There are limits on how many you can buy.

If gaming is your target, it’s interesting to find that the Nexus 7 Gen2 meets or exceeds the iPad Gen4. I confirmed this performance by playing a number of games and finding that I couldn’t slow this little guy down; Galaxy on Fire’s new android release, Project Y, and a host of old standbys.

It also typically beats a Nexus 10 in all tests, so if your choice between these two tablets is speed, the N7 is the obvious winner. I’m guessing it will take hours with the shipped charger to bring it from 0 to The improvements in Android 4.

However, it also includes battery improvements which seem to stretch an additional hour of video watching despite it’s slightly smaller battery. It’s also a little thinner than the 1st gen Nexus 7, by around 1.

Usually thin tablets annoy me and are awkward to hold, but the Nexus 7 has comfortable rounded sides and a soft rubber back. The front is a fingerprint magnet of course.

This baby comes ready to be loaded up with any ROM you chose, as do all of the Nexus series. There aren’t any real releases yet, but I expect there to be some great ones over the next few months.

Apple does it’s best to prevent Jailbreaking. If you don’t know the benefits of either, and consider yourself a tinkerer, then you may want to brush up on them.

Apple tries it’s best to keep it’s store locked down with American prude censorship. Apple also nixes nearly any emulator apps they can. That sucks a big one. One of the big reasons I will not pick up an IOS device.

Nearly all the “good” games are available on both within months, but the tendency is for Apple to get the initial release followed closely. So let the stupid, “My tablet has more apps” argument die, as it doesn’t matter anymore.

The widescreen format and shape can be awkward for some, but I got used to it quickly. There is no SD card slot. We already expected this as the previous didn’t have one, but I really wish it had one so I could load it up with music and movies.

Why can’t a much larger tablet have one too? Other than that, I am struggling to find a negative with this tablet. Once again, I think I’ll give it a few weeks before I can fully flesh out this review.

Until then, I’m gonna enjoy messing with this little guy. Now that I’ve had the tablet for a couple days and kicked it around a bit more, I’m still holding firm on my previous statements. I’ve loaded up Jet Set Radio, Dolphin, Labtech Control Center and a number of other apps to see how well it handles a variety of content.

I must say, I’m not having any issues. I loaded up 3DMark so I could see for myself how well it handles a heavy load on it’s GPU, and it breezed through even on Extreme, achieving a score of around The first Nexus is only able to pull off around, making the new model over 3 times faster.

One detail I didn’t realize before, but now find apparent is that while the speakers sound good for built in tiny tablet speakers, the volume levels are capped to achieve this.

Before the speakers begin to distort bass, the top volume levels out. I kind of wish it could go little further so I could use it for a portable radio while I’m cleaning, but I suppose headphones will fix that.

It fits in a pants pocket like a big mp3 player, something I can’t pull off with an iPad mini. The iPad mini is 5. The widescreen just barely makes it into a back or side pocket without being too tight.

I discovered only two dead pixels on my tablet, both in the top. One is incredibly hard to see except at an angle, and only then in complete black. The other is slightly more visible, but only at an angle again.

Dead pixels are to be expected on an high density display, so be extra diligent to identify whether or not your display has a serious problem with dead or stuck pixels.

Mine are minor, but a few significant reports have surfaced. It has done well with battery life throughout a day or two of moderate use and occasional gaming.

I’m waiting on an ultra-slim case from Moko, but would like to see that “Premium Official Case” come out so I can decide if it’s worth it. It’s fast, reliable and just about the perfect size for taking anywhere.

My Kindle Fire is now converted into a semi-dedicated iTunes remote because I’m so spoiled by the responsiveness of my Nexus 7. Also, I rooted it about a week or so ago and put a lean version of 4.

It’s even faster now! I also love the Moko ultra-slim case I put on it. It doesn’t add bulk, the magnetic clamps seem to be holding up, and it looks nice. I’ve had the table for over two years now, and I’m still happy with it and frequently use it for web browsing as well as light gaming, such as Clash of Clans.

Its battery still maintains a nice long charge even after continual use for 2 years, and it still does a good job of handling day to day tasks. I guess my review stands. I still really like this tablet.

While everyone waited on an iPad mini with retina, Google and Asus went ahead and did one better. Presenting the new Nexus 7, an affordable 7-inch tablet with beefy specs and more pixels per inch than you can shake a p jpeg at.

Whether you call it the Nexus 7 2 or just the Nexus 7, it hurdles right over the iPad mini in both parts and price. For just a little more money, it offers greater functionality than a Kindle Fire HD.

It so surpasses the original Nexus 7 that Google has swept last year’s tablet under the rug; it seems to be retired from the Play Store altogether. Internally, the new Nexus 7 packs a 1.

Sadly, we don’t yet have official word on Australian pricing. While microSD slots now feel like a relic of a bygone era, since neither Nexus nor Apple devices offer them, we have to bemoan storage space a bit here.

Our 32GB tablet came out of the box with 26GB available. Those planning to go for the 16GB model need to brace for having only 10GB to play with. Still, no matter how you slice it, the Nexus 7 is a lot of great tablet hardware for the money, all packed in an unassuming, plastic package.

That pockmarked rubber backing from the first Nexus 7 has been ditched, replaced with an all plastic black backing. It doesn’t feel as slick or look as premium as the metal backing of an iPad, but it’ll surely hold up against scratches better than Apple’s tablet.

The new Nexus 7 is poised to change the tablet game. It has a display and a price tag that puts the iPad mini to shame, and makes us wonder what’s in store for the redesigned Nexus This isn’t an open and shut case though.

Right off the bat, if we had to register a few complaints about the Nexus 7’s build, we have bring up all that bezel. Also, the industry standard of advertising the unformatted storage on a device instead of the available space needs to change, as the 16GB Nexus 7 is really a 10GB tablet.

Affordable price tags have bought the Nexus 7 some leeway, but it’s no longer the dirt cheap option. Start rooting for the little guy; the Nexus 7 is small, even alongside other 7-inch tablets. So it’s a tad a thinner, and therefore even easier to hold in one hand, something we’ve never felt entirely comfortable doing with the wider iPad mini.

It’s not too small, but we wouldn’t want it any smaller. As it is now, it’s the perfect size to toss in a bag or even a coat pocket. We’ve always considered 7-inchers to be travel tablets and inch ones to be couch companions, and the new Nexus 7 fills this role perfectly, a featherweight at just 0.

Alas, the amount of storage on the device is also lightweight. That left us with just 26GB to play with. That’s not too bad, but those eyeing up the 16GB model should be warned that they’ll have just 10GB available.

That, compounded with the lack of microSD slot and 64GB option, may disappoint media hounds looking to carry a large collection of movies at all times. On the outside, the Nexus 7 has a durable, unassuming design; a bit dull if you want to be harsh about it.

Apple fans will likely miss the premium feel of brushed aluminium, but anyone who’s winced at the sight of a horribly scuffed iPad will understand opting for a tougher plastic exterior.

The Nexus 7’s display is coated in standard issue Corning glass, and the rear is firm black plastic. The rubbery pockmarked backing of the original Nexus 7 has been ditched, and we’re fine with that.

It was a divisive design; some liked it, others didn’t, and we found that the white version discolored over time. The place where Google and Asus have really outdone Apple is in the resolution and pixel density of the screen.

The Nexus 7 packs a 7-inch IPS display with a resolution of x display with ppi. Compare that to the ppi on a full size Retina iPad, and you can see the winner, at least on paper.

In actual real life, using fallible human eyes, you’d be hard pressed to spot a pixel on either display. They’re both extremely dense, high quality displays. Compare the Nexus 7 to an iPad mini though, and it’s a different story.

That’s by no means insulting, until you start comparing prices. The Nexus 7 has a An error occurred while processing your purchase. Your promo code has been applied to your order and can be seen at checkout.

You can buy 3 or 4 of these for the price of one new tablet. This is the second Nexus 7 2nd generation that I’ve owned. The first one I was replacing the battery and broke a plastic piece off that holds the metal band that goes across the battery.

I couldn’t use the touch screen anymore so I decided to replace it with the exact same model. Great quality, crisp screen, great battery life There isn’t anything I don’t like about this tablet. I highly recommend it.

I loved my first generation Nexus 7 until it was turned into a brick when an operating system too big for it to handle was improperly pushed out. Now that I have been able to locate a “like new” second generation, 32 gig second generation Nexus 7, I am happy again.

The x screen is as nearly perfect as a 7-inch screen needs to be; it’s as if I am looking at a perfect print from a 35 mm camera. And it just zips along, with no noticeable lag time at all.

I have tried several current, famous-brand products that do not compare. The Nexus 7 is a great wi-fi tablet. It has the features i want, without the added bloatware that is installed on many tablets and smartphones.
