Yeah it was just the screen protector. How are people finding the build quality?. Then I pretty much had to start all over again with this review since it changed everything. Also a quick google wasn’t favourable. An Android tablet with a MIPS processor isn’t worth as much because it has too many problems running apps. Unfortunatly the unbricker doesnt fix it:.

Official 7 firmware novo fire ainol version 188 download

Seems that a reported problem with the charging side is correct. Yeh agree its frustrating but they can do what they want really. For the most part it works as it should. Yeah I went for DHL rather than free shipping because we need to have this before we go overseas in a few weeks It doesn’t mention which year though ; Hope they hurry up as ive got one on order but from pandawill. Are all the ones people receiving is the chinese or the english version? I received a Ainol nova 7 fire a couple of days ago, from ainol-nova.

Do I have to use advanced task killer to make sure it does not drain the battery. A bit of additional information to my previous post. When I stand in a dark room and boot the tablet up, I can make out the faintest outline of the clock and the unlock symbol.

I’ve then touched the unlock symbol and moved my finger to the right to unlock it and the tablet “clicks” to unlock. If I then touch the bottom left hand corner of the screen where the home and back buttons would be the tablet vibrates in response.

So, behind the scenes the tablet it responding like it should do — there’s just a bloody black screen standing in the way of my enjoyment. Sorry, my previous response was meant for you.

I’ve given this a go and not had any success. And one additional piece of information. This is what Goldway thinks is the issue: Such a bloody good tablet, I hope this is not a bigger issue, otherwise it could be an absolute nightmare Let’s just hope that the fault only occurs on a small number of the tablets.

Pat Moss on slatedroid hasn’t come across that problem yet along with a most of the other users. Do you guys think I should try to find someone local to open this up and check the cabling?

Sounds a little risky to me. I’m guessing the safer option is just to open up a dispute on aliexpress and send back to the seller to either get fixed or replaced. Thats where I’m at, in hope that it’s a small number.

Very hard to tell when it’s a chinese built tablet at a cheap price, means lots will hit the market quickly and could seem like it’s a majority when in fact it’s just a small batch etc.

For those on like myself, and are worried what to do firmware wise, Ainol have said not to update your firmware yet. Ainol forum admin Hi, you can use the tablet when you receive it. Don’t update the firmware until new firmware is released.

I have installed it onto my Fire which had the original Ainol firmware on it. Seems ok so far, still playing with it. After the update you have to restart the tablet to get the keyboard to show up.

I have configured vibrate and sounds off, but it still vibrates when you unlock the screen. I don’t know if that is a default feature. I installed and tried BS Player Pro to view some.

Received my Ainol Fire today from Buyincoins. First impressions are good, doesn’t fell too junky at all. Certainly a lot better than I was expecting. I think this is default feature.

Same occurs on the Aurora II even with all vibrate and sounds off, it will still vibrate on screen unlock. That’s very promising news for me! Mine was dispatched from their warehouse on the 2nd but the tracking number says it left Beijing International on the 6th.

Hopefully it makes it into my hot little hands soon! Cheers, thanks for that, will do that however the default MoviePlayer seems to be doing a pretty good job so far using my network via ES File Explorer.

Only other issue so far is the browser has issues if I open more than 3 tab windows, downloading page info seems to stall and gives you the can’t find the page message.

Wireless icon bottom right of screen sometimes disappears then later reappears. Definitely no connectivity when that happens. I have wireless on even when it sleeps, so it’s not that.

Got mine today from ainol-novo. It took awhile to get, bit over 2 weeks, but seems like a great little unit. Even with the original ROM its nice and smooth and screen looks great. Glad i took the plunge on a chinese tablet so far..

Actually, it is that Not only that, but with wifi set to always on, it would take much longer to wake up from sleep — sometimes not at all — I was really starting to lose it a few times trying to wake it up ;.

I found with flambe v3 it still loses connection during sleep when set to ALWAYS on, but it won’t freeze straight away when wifi is toggled back on like on earlier versions Really happy with it now I’ve re-flashed it about 7 times now Also looking forward to the JB update Currently running more stable than any android device I’ve used I’m waiting for my fire to get here, and was wondering which forums yous visit for updates and discussion and such?

I’ll change WiFi during sleep to Never and see how I go. Will try Dolphin browser as well. I’ve also been trying a couple of ebook apps. Alkido seems pretty good and flips from portrait to landscape easily.

I have all their albums and First EP 45rpm. Last night it was Living Eyes LP More Fun or Burn my eye? I saw them a few years ago when they did their last reunion tour, absolutely fantastic. Damn, I still kick myself for missing that: I should have said screw work — for one night at least ;.

OK, sorry for going so OT — back to the Fire Is everyone here just using the stock LCD Density? Do any of them other than NOT have problems with the Play store? I’ve tried, and — a few things work a little weird, but makes things a bit better size for my wife ; but I haven’t tried installing any new apps from play store, so don’t know how they’d be affected by the change in res.

I DID install the swype keyboard while in density Gotta say, Swype works great on the Fire — that default keyboard was driving me insane with it’s constant need to switch from letters to numbers aarrggh!

Burn my Eye on Descent into the Maelstrom, yes a brilliant track. I haven’t done anything with LCD density, just stock. Only thing I changed was in Display settings, Font size: The Whirlpool forum threads in any browser I use, the column width is real narrow so the text is about 5 or 6 lines for a simple sentence.

I suppose I’ll get used to it. Gotta say, Swype works great on the Fire I couldn’t get the hang of using Swype when I had it on my phone, so I just use the default. May have to revisit it.

Is that from Buyincoins? There is a toggle to press to change the orientation, or press the “settings” tab there, and you can change the default orientation I think this is set to Portrait Sensor.

I was using Alkido but the newer free version seems to crash out on a few of my epubs. It uses the TTS text to speech engine, so reads your books to you, much like the Kindle.

Default is set to shake the device to start the reading. Paid Wednesday and recieved it yesterday so 3 working days not bad! Checked and its the right model with all AU accessories. Can anyone recommend a case?

There is literally hundreds of them on aliexpress and I cant choose Yes it was Buyincoins. I tracked my item at http: Also guys the tablet language is in US English and I can navigate settings ect.

How the hell do you get rid of all the Chinese stuff? Yeah I bought the Under the Ashes boxset on vinyl back in ’88 — still one of my most prized possessions ; hehe.

Back to the Fire I’ve installed Dolphin Browser for Pad v1. Yeah, not sure what it is, but it seems to run more stable on the Fire for me than on my phone — my Galaxy S tends to crash quite a bit with Dolphin — might be the ROM I’m using on it though — really need to get around to updating that.

Yeah, I found the larger font settings weren’t quite enough for my wife and the HUGE font setting really screws with Play Store, with a lot of text being hidden since it won’t fit in the normal area due to the larger font — setting LCD density seems to avoid that problem — but at the expense of some incompatibilities, probably too much of a pain if you’re constantly installing new stuff via the Play store.

Yeah, I noticed that too Oh, and while I have installed the “Pad” version of dolphin, I still prefer the standard version Yeah due to the incompatibilities, I can’t really recommend changing the density to others — though I’ll probably keep using it this way.

I couldn’t get the hang of using Swype when I had it on my phone, so I just use the default. Not so sure it would be as good as you get to bigger and bigger screens though — as it seems best suited to small screens, like a phone and smaller tablets like the Fire — then again, maybe that’s just something that needs getting used to too?

Flash another ROM look at the slatedroid thread links that will have the Chinese apps removed. Everyone is saying not to flash yet and wait for the official firmware as the current flash can stuff the device.

Did this bit selected Android keyboard English US but it also has “Baidu Input” checked and there is no way to uncheck it. My Fire from buyincoins came today. I also just got a brand new Ipad 3 4G from work.

Should I sell the Fire or the Ipad? I’m leaning more towards keeping the Fire as it is 7″ which is perfect for my suit pocket which means no bulky cases! The Ipad might be less portable but it’s guaranteed to work if not, warranty is easy.

Just received my tablet from gadgetgreats and looks like its a dud. Screen doesn’t work, this is what it looks like when its on You will see a pop up that states, “Disable built-in app?

If you disable a built-in app, other apps may misbehave. Now to work out postage costs to send it back, should of just bought a nexus! Sorry to hear this man, not that it means much.

This is the part that I’ve always worried about with no local support or warranty. This is just an idea — send them a photo or video of power up of your tablet, advise that you’ve heard all about the many issues people are having with screen problems and see if you can return the tablet on it’s own in a small bubble wrap post pack without the box.

See if it works out cheaper to send them back on their own and the tablet on it’s own. Unfortunately, it’s the weight and size of package that seems to push the cost up, so this might help.

Sell the ipad on eBay, then with that money purchase a refurished ipad from Apple that still comes with 12 month warranty for a fraction of the price. Pocket the difference and keep the ipad and the Fire.

JPG Now to work out postage costs to send it back, should of just bought a nexus! Depending on the return postage cost, I think I would consider opening it up myself and seeing if the LCD ribbon cable is not correctly seated.

Perhaps its come loose during transit and may require unlocking the ribbon clamp, pushing the ribbon back in and locking it again. As far as Ive read, they are fairly easy to open.

Here is one showing the ribbon cable inside. I feel your pain. Had exactly the same issue. Mine is currently winging its way back to china as I couldn’t find a solution to it.

Hope you might find the solution to fixing it that I couldn’t. Fyi — I saw one of the guys above has suggested opening up the case. If you search yotube for “open case aurora” there’s a video that shows how easy it is to do albeit with an aurora ii.

This was on the Slatedroid forums, have a read here http: It’s quite a thin case. Yeah I bought the Under the Ashes boxset on vinyl back in ’88 — still one of my most prized possessions ; I didn’t know it was originally on vinyl, it’s a brilliant compilation.

Not so sure it would be as good as you get to bigger and bigger screens though — as it seems best suited to small screens, like a phone and smaller tablets I have a Huawei U phone, my first Android device, that is when I tried Swipe for the smaller screen as you mentioned.

How much was the return postage? Just got an SMS that a parcel has been recieved in my Parcel Locker at Aus Post office but the lockers are at capacity so I have to pick up during busineds hours!

Dont know if i will be able to resist opening the package if i go get it at lunch time. Select OK There was about 10 of em I disabled and it runs fine. No crashes or anything.

Is there any edu’s around on how to work this tablet? Then there is these ‘wigdet’ things, lots to learn. I sent the tablet with all accessories back in its box via Express Post International.

Interesting, so do they pay you back via Paypal or something, or a credit back to your credit card? I didn’t know it was originally on vinyl, it’s a brilliant compilation.

Yeah, while the CD set is more of a compilation, the vinyl boxset of Under the Ashes is basically just all their albums and eps I have a Huawei U phone, my first Android device, that is when I tried Swipe for the smaller screen as you mentioned.

Do you know which version of swype it came with? I prefer using the older version of Swype that came with my old Galaxy S — it’s pop up window was a lot harder to miss ; Whereas the newer beta version, while it looks nicer, it’s pop up is much more subtle and sometimes you don’t even realise it’s changed a word on you — the old one seemed to pick the correct word more often too.

But back to the Fire — Is anyone else that has used all the Flambe ROM releases finding that Flambe version 1a was more stable and faster than v3? I’m finding v3 is a little slower to wake sometimes and reconnect wifi than 1a Anyone else having any issues with v3?

Have 3 kids that are always playing games on my wifes phone liquid metal Aged 3 5 and 7. At that price i could get one each. I gather that some have faster cpu, more ram and more storage and Higher Res screen but is there anything else?

I have an ELF II which has x and now a Fire which is x, the one you are looking at has x, even on a 7″ that will not be pretty. Even if it is for the kids, you’re better off spending the extra to at least get a x display and then an IPS will improve the image also.

As for the other specs, MB memory is poor, even at that price, it’s not worth the frustration, IMO 1GB is the average these days and you shouldn’t go under. Running out of memory on a tablet leads to slow the experience down and even for kids will drive them crazy.

Also, most of the Ainol tablets seem to have a pretty good community support. I’m looking at something like this for my two kids. Can you explain the difference to me between all the different models?

Check out the wikipedia page http: In terms of quality I’m not sure, but in terms of specs it probably goes. Can’t recall what version, if I get a chance I’ll revisit attempting to use Swype, thanks for the tips.

I went straight to v3 so can’t make any comparisons. Why is google chrome “not compatible with this device” in the play store? There are a couple of apps not compatible in the store due to the custom rom 4.

I know I did have it on there at one point, just not sure which ROM — I don’t have it on there any more — but I’ll see if it stops me from installing now Just tried on stock and it says your device isn’t compatible with this version.

Even Whatsapp isn’t compatible.. My fire was burning brightly for the first couple of days but now the screen has died. When the unit is switched on the screen takes ages to warm up and then when it does it can hardly be seen I need to be in a dark room to make anything out.

There are lines running top to bottom and across as well which makes me think the screen is cooked. I have contacted Buyincoins and they have told me to take it to a local shop and check the problem and tell them the repair fee.

Anybody have any idea where in Melbourne there may be somebody who could perform this kind of analysis and possible repair? Same here except everyone keeps saying dont do the custom rom “yet” as it is known to brick the device in some cases.

Wait for the official ainol rom to come out so says slatedroid. BTW mine is still going strong though have identified an issue with wifi signal. Even though I am in range it will sometimes say “not in range”.

I then have to go to settings and turn wifi off then turn it back on and it works again. Seems to happen after waking from sleep mode but not all the time. I only have that problem if I do In fact if I have wifi set to always on, after waking from sleep, if the wifi dropped out I’ve flashed custom ROMs on mine 7 times now I guess I’m playing with Fire: The latest official word from Anoil is don’t flash your stock fire until the new patch is out which will be Jellybean 4.

I’m still running, but if I set mine to never on during sleep, it doesn’t turn back on after being on sleep, it just says wifi not in range and have to turn it off and back on again.

I’m a bit scared to try different firmware until they’ve been out a bit longer and are more tested. Whatsapp isn’t available for most non-phone tablets, including the Nexus 7.

They made this decision so it also affects devices like iPod touch which has no official telephony capability. There are ways around this, if you have an android phone and a backup app, though.

I saw you mentioned this earlier, but which post on slatedroid are you refering to? I know 5 people who are using custom ROMs on their Fires, with no bricking issues, and there is an unbricker tool also currently available as per this post on slatedroid.

Sorry I used the wrong terminology — its not “bricked” as such but their screens are stuffed. Unfortunatly the unbricker doesnt fix it:. Unfortunatly the unbricker doesnt fix it: You’re refering to the touchscreen controller chip failure.

From what I understand it can happen all all firmware versions? There was a guy from slatedroid who said his touchscreen failure occurred soon after receiving, and with stock firmware. I was like that for a day or two but then tonight decided to bite the bullet and install Pat Moss’ latest Flambe which turned out to be Jelly Bean 4.

I can now install apps previously listed as not being compatible with my device and all seems good so far. I was like that for a day or two but then tonight decided to bite the bullet and install Pat Moss’ latest Flambe.

Is this the link to it? Yep thats the one.. This is another link to a page of his with instructions and info. I found it a little easier to follow.. You see it in his signature on slatedroid..

Thanks for the link. First time installing custom rom and went through fine. Seems like all my previous apps work fine now even whatsapp installed but not tested yet. I stupidly forgot to backup since my last update: Sorry I’m not sure which ones I installed a few last night — can’t even remember what they were now as I was just picking a few of the 3D ones in that dodgy ainol market app to see how they ran or if they’d run over hdmi Most of the ones I installed last night have disappeared since the internal SD was corrupted Both times this has happened, I got a message about running out of space on my sd But the last thing I can remember — it was plugged in to the power adapter and left to download about to MB for some game I can’t remember — When I went back to it, it seemed to have gone to sleep even though I had it set to stay awake — but it wouldn’t wake — maybe it turned itself off??

I tried turning it on with a long press and it just displayed the white battery icon-thing in the middle of the screen you know the one, when you charge it switched off?

I then plugged it back into the charger and did a long press I think it must be from a corrupted file — like the tablet rebooting, or maybe going to sleep while downloading a large file or something along those lines Have you tried filling it up on your pc and then copying files from the card to make sure it’s working.

Lots of dodgy memory cards in the market Nope, I take that back I just went through and installed a few gameloft games from the ainol market app They didn’t run after downloading the data anyway Trying from the dodgy market again and will reboot after each one to see if I can narrow it down ;.

Actually it’s the internal SD, sorry, I think I stopped referring to it as internal in later posts: I’m just trying to work out whether a dodgy app caused the corruption or whether it’s something else — I’m hoping it’s a dodgy app, that way I can just avoid them ;.

Otherwise I might have to reformat to a different file system: Actually it’s the internal SD Good news for Ainol Fire users. Looks like a firmware that fixes touchscreen issues may be on its way.

So, this will work as long as u have the apk app file and install directly using that?. Not as simple as that unfortunately, as Whatsapp needs a “phone number” as your user id so it can send a verification SMS or voice activation code.

There are ways around it if you have another phone with whatsapp already installed. See these threads as examples: Ainol have release the crystal, which replaces the Elf 2: If anyone has time — would you be able to download Rdio off the Play Store and see if it works on this tablet?

I’m looking at buying one but don’t want to download it if Rdio doesn’t work. Thanks — would be really grateful if someone can give it a try! I received a Ainol nova 7 fire a couple of days ago, from ainol-nova.

It stopped working after I plugged the charger in for an hour. The screen came up dull and blurred and has not worked since. Seems that a reported problem with the charging side is correct.

I checked the charger and the voltage is correct. The biggest problem however is that ainol-nova. They had previously replied to a couple of queries I had within 24 Hrs. If anyone is thinking about buying one of these, at this point I would say stay clear of ainol-nova.

If they come good I will update this post with the details. Posted 06 September — There’s an user who said that his Fire self-bricked itself after 3 days of use. That’s what I’ve heard.

Ainolstore and ainol also are so mysterious about the subject. It’s clear that there’s some problems but customers don’t have a understanding that what those are. You can follow the discussion at slatedroid forum.

Because the lack of information, no one really knows what’s the actual magnitude of the broken devices. I got mine from ainol-novo and they are hopeless with their email reply’s..

I ordered screen protectors for the fire off them after it came so the actual service is ok its just the communication that is terrible.. We seem to pay out the ass for electronics here just for the customer service..

You have to consider if the savings are the worth the risk because you cant expect top notch service when your getting such a bargain.. If Apple or Samsung sold a tablet with the same specs and ports as this it would be double the price atleast..

I doubt Ainol are very concerned with breaking into the western market in a huge way yet either as they have no official english store.. Calling it Ainol shows that too.. D With their population size they already have a massive market to sell too so why would they bother i guess..

It would be interesting to see what the Fire to Flame manufacturing ratio is.. At the risk of jinxing myself my fire has been running beautiful model no: I went to flambe 3 ROM nearly straight away though so i dont know if that helped.

The only problem i have had so far is the popping sound when its sleeping.. I have always turned mine off when charging as i think i read somewhere that leaving it on may have been the problem.. I have been using the wall charger and not the USB even though alot of people are blaming the wall charger for the problems so who knows..

Hope you get something sorted out with it.. I purchased from Ainol-novo, at first they wouldn’t respond to emails re: Received mine in the last couple of days — buyincoins — also flashed Flambe 3 no problems as yet — ominous though as my serial ends with!

I am also concerned about the touch screen failures — turning off and charging via USB; also noticed that some failures appear to be when using pad when charging so been avoiding that until new firmware arrives flouted as fixing the issue.

I’ve had my Fire for a week using the stock rom. For the most part it works as it should. I did find like many others it has its little niggles and annoying quirks.

Just updated to the flambe rom and I have to say it is a much better experience. The tablet runs much better and is so much more responsive. I have to say it is a required change if you want to maximise your enjoyment with this tablet.

See my previous post about details about problems with Ainol Novo 7 Fire, mine is not an isolated experience. After a week and 3 emails requesting a RA authority, still no reply from ainol-nova.

The only reply I got was the fourth email request to sales for some info, not sure how bright this guy is, it was signed by the same guy who signs the support emails. His email address is registered to an anonymous private address ainol-novo.

If you must buy one of these do it through an Ebay reseller, then you have half a chance if some thing goes wrong. Got screen protectors today and pretty happy with them..

Camera hole lines up perfect.. Might have lost a tiny bit of responsiveness but its hard to notice.. Ive only had it on for ten minutes so ill see how it goes..

Righto — have received my replacement Fire and all good so far Still on stock rom — slightly scared to touch it until the official firmware update comes out. Those DHL guys sure love their yellow tape.

Still probably easier to open than the infamous Nexus 7. And the Nexus 7 doesn’t even come with a screen protector and a cleaning cloth and all those other accessories. The IPS screen is really crisp.

I only have an ipad2 as a point of comparison — certainly think the Fire’s display stands up on its own. Might try and do a side by side Fire v ipad2 video to try and illustrate. Will post up here if I get the chance.

There’s a post on slatedroid that has a user reporting they have received the English version Novo 7 “Flame”. The box apparently is different from the Chinese “Fire” version, and says Flame, and the printing on the back of the device is Novo 7 Flame instead of Nov 7 Fire.

Not sure what firmware is running, and what apps are on it yet though. You can see the slight differences between the English version and the previously released Chinese version.

Still waiting on info on the firmware that comes with the English version, and what stock apps are on it. Before you buy one of these have a look at http: If you must buy one probably best to find one on Ebay, then you have a chance to get your money back if the tablet fails.

My Ainol Novo Fire died the first day I got it and put it on charge with the supplied charger. Many people have had the same or similar problems. I have had no success with ainol-novo.

They have not acknowledged any of my emails. Or buy via Aliexpress. My first tablet failed and my experience with my seller was very positive. Costs to return the faulty tablet were covered by the seller and a replacement tablet was organised as soon as they’d received the faulty one.

Seems to be bigger issues than for the aurora II lucky i didnt end up buying the flame I emailed a random online store that was selling ainol fires and asked if they had the English version of the Ainol fire in stock.

They told me that there is no ‘real’ english version and that the ainol Flame is just the ainol fire put in a black box. That might be because they don’t have the Flame in stock. Technically they are right.

There is little difference in the hardware on first glance. Not sure if they have fixed the issues causing some people grief with the first versions of the Fire though.

See the pictures from the link in my post whrl. The external back case has Novo 7 Flame printed on it, rather than Novo 7 Fire. And according to the slatedroid link http: Haven’t read about anyone else having this with the Fire yet.

They have this problem with the Aurora II, but check out this post at xda forums its for the Asus Transformer, but reported worked with some people with this issue on the Aurora II:.

Also, check your battery stats graph. Is the tablet actually going to “Sleep” or is it in “Awake” mode over night. You might have an app or widget that doesn’t release the wakelock and leaves it in Awake mode.

I assume your wifi is also set as always on? There is an app that is good for working out which app it could be — BetterBatteryStats it is a paid app. You can read about it here at xda forums.

Glad it works on the Fire as well. Seems an issue with the kernel, given it affects a number of different devices. Worked out yesterday that my android and iphone Kindle app all sync to the same place so I can read a book on my iphone and switch to my fire and keep going.

Download a pdf, convert in Calibre to. Hi — just wondering is there any advantage in going for a Fire I know there’s a difference in the apps, as opposed to a Flame — is the hardware underneath EXACTLY the same I’m thinking build quality, with Fire being for the Chinese market?

They have better screens and faster processors, but appear to be very similar otherwise. I would steer clear of them because the US prices are too high compared to better tablets. An Android tablet with a MIPS processor isn’t worth as much because it has too many problems running apps.

Then install it on your tablet pc. It works to get android market full version on your Ainol Novo 7 basic tablet. Gepad e10 7″inch green led also known as shyle 7inch wonder media via, the build ” generic – eng.

And the kernel is 2. Also have non rooted 7inch wifi htc flyer running 3. And finally best comes to last.. Before you do update please keep in mind that the ICS firmware update will wipe all your user data and applications from your Novo 7 tablet, so it is recommended to backup everything first.

Also ensure your tablet is connected to a power supply when updating to prevent the tablet from crashing. To download the Android 4. The file will be in a.

Put the the Android 4. Insert your SD card into your Ainol Novo 7 tablet. Keep holding both until the Android logo and Android robot appears. If you release the buttons and wait for at least 5 seconds your tablet to enter the automatic update mode.

Updating should take around 5 minutes and the tablet will reboot when finished. Alternatively if you press a button your Novo 7 tablet will enter manual update mode. Once rebooted you can enjoy Android 4.

Hardware buttons for volume control, with additional buttons for menu, back, and power. Sleep mode is efficient and drains very little battery budget tablets often miss on that mark.

Cons Because of the processor it uses, app compatibility isn’t very good. Installing the increases the number of apps that will work, but still not all apps will install or run properly. Poor viewing angles and average screen quality.

The Novo 7 Paladin came with Android 4. After installing the 4. Sometimes the touchscreen isn’t as sensitive as it could be, although it seems to have improved with the 4. Can sometimes bog down and become slow to respond and react.

Verdict The Novo 7 Paladin isn’t a bad tablet for the price but because of the app incompatibility issues it is probably more suited for someone already familiar with Android tablets or someone that’s not afraid of trial and error.

Here’s how to update the firmware on the Novo 7 Paladin: Download the update package from the. Power off the tablet. As soon as the Android logo appears, release the power and volume buttons.

A big Android character will appear with a progress indicator below it. The update will apply and the device will reboot, and rebooting takes a long time the first time.

Posted 18 February – Press and hold the power button. Hadnt considered losing warranty from flashing a custom rom to be honest, but according to my warranty card, warranty does not cover damage from software but makes no mention that my hardware warranty would be void from flashing.

The one ive recieved appears to be a Batch 1, not batch 2 as its manufactuered before nov 15th, got a dump of the firmware just incase. Anything anyone wants tested ill do my best, any other benchmarks i should post screens of as well?

Left tablet turned off overnight and plugged in via USB charging. What were you using? Both Apple and generic chinese import USB wall chargers work adequately here. The AC charger that ships with the tablet has terrible build quality — so glad it also allows charging over USB!

Assume USB charging would work better if you used a powered usb hub or had motherboard drivers to boost usb voltage. One question I have is how well does it handle streaming p to a tv through it’s hdmi.

Any loss of sync or stuttering? I’ve been thinking of getting a android tv stick. Something like the uhost2. But the crystal would be more flexible for me if there’s no issues. Watching on the device using Movie Player, everything ive tried so far works without playback issues have not tested any p content yet.

I grabbed the Birds and Monsters video test files from http: The 40mbps Birds clip plays fine as well, which i thought was very impressive. I am looking for a tablet fire my 7 year old, and one for my 4 year old, to play games and educational apps.

Would things like angry birds work well on here, along with YouTube videos and maybe p movies? Angry birds starwars plays flawlessly so i assume all variations will.

Youtube app works as does HQ mode. All tested on stock firmware. Only tested via internal memory, the only spare sdcard i had was an old 1gb which is very slow, got a 16gb card and a hdmi cable in the mail for further testing.

The benchmarks support my thinking I was better off buying a tablet for a better ‘android experience’, than spending to upgrade my low end android phone which Ill now use a mobile hotspot for the tablet when needed.

I’ve resorted to placing orders with 3 different vendors, all of whom are taking their time shipping to me, more than half my inbound stock is allocated for pre-orders already. I suspect that many of the China based retailers are in the same position, waiting for Ainol to delivery stock.

I ordered one of these from buyincoins. I received it this morning. Yes, that’s about the time my vendors last shipped to me too, I wish I’d placed a far larger order then.

Not that I know of — was just expecting an email to arrive when it does. Site says days to ship Tested out CM10 Installs fine using Crystal compat 1. Just got my crystal delivered today.

I was reading over on slatedroid that the second cpu goes to sleep after 10 mins of inactivity and only a restart will wake it back up. Anyone ordered from them recently? If so how long does it take to arrive.

I used EMS as shipping. I also ordered 3 units from Lightake yesterday I’ve not ordered from them befor but the product page says in stock 3 — 7 days from ordering so hope to see some movement soon.

Yeah ive read that too, meant to be on stock rom though i belive not cm10, either way i did bench after a reboot incase of that. Im happy on stock, i’ve rooted though and changed build.

FM were saying incompatible, they work fine thru store after the ID change. Waddup waddup, Mannie Fresh signing in here like a bowse Just registered after I read this discussion on this particular tablet, and the apparent shortage of it.

Now they’re saying they’ll have it in stock by this Wednesday — strike that out I mean tomorrow Friday [delay upon delay], but they’re saying they’ll be shipped 40 units tomorrow.

I don’t know how long we’ll have to wait, but it really wouldn’t surprise me if our items don’t get shipped tomorrow. I placed my order almost two weeks ago buddy [with Gadgetgreats], and there has been no updates since.

Just an ‘in progress’ status and an almost unwillingness to respond to e-mails. My order status has been “In-progress” ever since. Guess i should have asked what friday of what month first.

I fired off an email to Lightake. This is Amy from lightake. About your order xxxxxxxxxx, normally we need working days to prapare the item after payment confirmed. So, could you pls wait for a while?

We’ll arrange your order asap. It’s likely, like everyone else, that they’re waiting on stock from Ainol, the current rumour is that both Crystal and Fire will be shipped to distributors and resellers by the end of this week.

That said I’ve been told something similar for the past 3 weeks. So im out of luck unless someone has an original u-boot. Assuming its the flashing that bricked it, and not some corrupt nand cells or something.

You’d never guess what, the stock for the Crystal hasn’t come in today, and will be arriving some time next Monday or Tuesday. Who’d have thought it?! But to be fair, Gadgetgreats said they had a small batch of Ainol Fire tabs delivered to them, but even then it was only 20 units so they can’t ship to all the customer who have been waiting.

My friend JoffaR, off to Monday or Tuesday we go. They’re estimating a delivery of “” Ainol Crystal units some time next week. Hopefully we all get some confirm coming mon or tue to tell us it has been sent.

Nice if it could arrive before Xmas — hopefully they get the delivery of sufficient stock early next week. It’s as jubal1 said, whichever vendor you’ve ordered from, everyone is having difficulty with the Crystal stock it seems.

All things point to availability some time next week, although not a certainty. I’ve read rumors that their wont be any more, Ainol moving to production of their new lineup of quad tablets. Just rumors though but noone seems to have received any stock for quite a while, and they did a similar thing with their last generation as well.

Just rumors though but noone seems to have received any stock for quite a while. According to the answers to questions on the bottom of the Aional-novo webpage, more stock is due Dec 10th: Then a few day pass and their comments update to another few days.

I havent been able to actually place an order there so I went with lightake. Based on the replies in this thread, Lightake seems to be popular. So I take it they are the overall best option?

All I can suggest is that whoever you order from that you get confirmation first that they actually carry stock. I ordered from gadgetgreats on 29th Nov and mine still hasn’t shipped. In all that time their site says “in stock” when clearly it isn’t.

Lightake offers a cheap fast ship option, but that means nothing if they dont actually have stock to ship! You heard any updates from GG? I’m not going to get excited yet, but they’re apparently expecting it to receive stock today, although they didn’t sound entirely sure if that’s a certainty..

GadgetGreats are saying they’re going to receive 20 today and another 20 on Thursday, they sound confident of that. Sounds promising, and I ordered around three weeks ago, so I shouldn’t too far down the list, I hope!

I think we’ll find that all of the sources will get stock at pretty much the same time. For everyone’s sake I hope it’s early enough to get them in your hands by xmas. GadgetGreats just sent me an e-mail claiming they’ve sent my order.

They’ve included a tracking number, so it sounds good for now. Fingers crossed, will update later. JoffaR, any luck with your order? Ordered one of these from lightake on the 3rd of dec and its still in the processing stage like so many here are having the same result.

I emailed them last night and they replied with. About your order xxxxxxxxxx, the item of SKU: However, this item with black colour is available. Would you mind changing it into a black one? And we’ll arrange your order asap.

Your understanding will be highly appreciated! Looking forward to your reply. Hopefully it arrives before xmas. I’ve just sent them another email asking for an update on when my order will be shipped, the second in as many days.

Not sure if in stock or not. Looks like what was intended as a Christmas present for the missus may turn out to be a birthday present for next year: Well I just received an update form Lightake today saying my order has been shipped via EMS — so I am hoping I have a good chance I will get it by the end of next week.

I got same email from lightake asking if I wanted a black one instead. Pretty sure I ordered black to begin with. I replied with yes to change to black but have not heard back yet. Hopefully they send it soon.

I used EMS shipping as well. I too ordered a white crystal but no offer to swap a for a black one, ah well looks like the missus will be getting perfume and sox for chrissy then. This very minute I received an email saying my order from Lightake has been shipped.

I ordered on 5 December Hi friend, Thanks fo your order Q This is Moira from lightake. Would you mind choose SKU for an exchange? Here is the link for reference: Can anyone tell me the difference if any?

Is this the black Vs white thing..? Got email from lightake at midnight last night to say it was shipped on the 14th with EMS tracking. No verification code for tracking yet.

Have tracking number but not much point until code comes through. The verification code are the random numbers on the website. Don’t use the track on the front page. Click on track and express tracking.

My tracking shows it have left Guangzhou tonight. Mine’s still sitting as “Shipment information received” So my kids will probably get a “New Years” present I wonder where the “Commenweath” of Australia is?

I think I have a very good chance of getting this tablet before Xmas now: I think you’re right, I’ve had 3 EMS parcels in the past week go through customs in a day and get delivered the next day.

I think Christmas may be sorted, mine has cleared processing in Melbourne and been forwarded on for delivery I emailed lightake yesterday and they said it takes up to six days to receive the tracking number.

Hopefully mine isn’t too far away either. I’m in the same boat 9 to 5! Ordered on the 2nd Dec. Slightly frustrating when its a present for my old man not knowing if it will be delivered by Christmas.

Jubal1 you were spot on. Mine was delivered today. Pretty happy as I ordered on Dec 8th and they only confirmed they had stock in last Thursday. I have had a play and this is a nice little unit.

Only thing is that the supplied power pack has the European pins — Lucky I had an Aussie convertor adaptor lying around. I’ve now had a play with mine and can honestly say this is an impressive little unit.

Fast, fluid and not a bad unit to look at. Mine now shows on delivery truck with driver: I Got an attempted delivery notice from a local courier when I got home last night, rang them first thing this morning asking what time they’d be around today, response:.

The Cube is a 8″ Dual Core 1. The Crystal is a 7″ Dual Core 1. I finally managed to contact EMS and they said my item have left china on 15th. Was hoping it would be here before Christmas but looks like it will probably be here in the new year.

How did you get your tracking information to work from GadgetGreats? I used the e-mail tracking code on the Hong Kong Post site and it doesn’t work, my order was dispatched on the same day, but it still hasn’t arrived and I can’t even get any tracking information to work.

I ordered mine, one white, one black for my kids for Christmas. Ordered from Lightake 22 Nov, shipped 14 Dec. Tracking number still not working. Getting past annoyed — especially considering heaps of people who’ve ordered after me are saying they’ve got theirs.

My tracking number starts with an RQ and ends with SG. Does that mean it is coming from Singapore? I thought Lightake was in China. Login go to recent orders then ‘view order’ then ‘track your order’ and a window pops up containing tracking number and refers to singpost.

Which shipping option did you use? You must’ve selected the Singpost option as well then, I just used regular airmail and that’s why they sent me a link to HongKongPost. It’s useless though as it’s not getting updated, although that was rumoured to be expected.

I chose DHL and they were great at updating I don’t remember selecting anything special — just the free shipping option. I did have to email them about the AU chargers — maybe that caused the added delays.

Oh well, it isn’t the end of the world. Still inside the paypal 45 day dispute period, so if worst comes to worst I have that option also. Hopefully it won’t come to that. Want to know something scary?

Just got mine connected to the home wifi and google maps knows exactly where I live to the house from my ip address. Must have had my phones gps on and connected at some time.

But in the meantime, i search for apk file of the app and place it on a card or just save in one of the folder on the tablet. Yep im starting to get annoyed with the fact that many apps that I can run on my 2yo low end huawei phone arent compatible.

So i had to find the original stock rom and flash it back. I had researched this a bit so for the benefit of new crystal owners im telling you that none of the currently available custom roms are fully compatible due to hardware changes in later batches.

Namely you may lose cam, wifi or gsensor function. Later today ill try my hand at hacking around the crippled google market access. Good luck guys I hope you get it sorted. I hear soulgem v4 is coming soon which is based on new hardware so hopefully that is out soon.

ES explorer is a program that comes with crystal. Open with ES Note editor Look for the below lines and change to following ro. Follow the instruction on this link http: I just happen to do all of them.

Sounds like a lot of pain. Definitely will keep the cube they sent me instead. Got it rooted as per http: Is anyone having issues with wifi, camera and g-sensor with the stock rom? Stock rom is just fine, its just google market access to apps is severely limited in stock configuration.

Links and info in my last post will see you right. You will need a microSD card to flash root. As said above, all of the 3rd party roms have compatibility issues with the hardware changes in recent batches of crystal tablets.

How are people finding the build quality?. I also have a onda dual core which makes the crystal feel like a dropped pastie! The crystal flexes, creaks and feels like the screen is about to pop out of the bezel.

I might have got a bad batch maybe. Not a problem with the performance of it. Runs great but the feel of it is a bit of let down. I use QQ and Wechat. On Wechat the camera is working but the image appears upside down.

I tried with my iphone and you cant seem to get the correct direction of viewing the other person even when you rotate the actual device or the other person’s phone. If you are charging or using the USB port, be gentle.

My 11yo daughter has already broken it off the board by plugging it in to charge. How easy it is to open up the Novo 7 Crystal? I would please like to know for future reference. As easy as prying it apart with a small screwdriver along the edge.

Back just comes right off My first real gripe with this is that the built in mic is lousy and theres no option to use a plugin mic. Perhaps skype has automatic level control and compensates.

My vendor finally got some of these in, finally I’ll have stock in Sydney in about 10 days, just in time for the mid-january rush!!

Temporada official fire ainol 7 firmware novo for

I mean in terms of what comes with them or not. Some seem to include OTG cable others not etc I think this seems to be getting towards the “too cheap” zone personally, at least compared to other sellers anyway.

For extra bonus laugh points factor, the company selling this Ainol Flame via Aliexpress is I’d pay to go see this kind of comedy and these guys are giving it to us for free, huge respect for them.

The flame and Aurura II have the exact same chip. Im thinking of getting this, was going to get the nexus 7 though I want a better camera on it And, importantly seems to confirm the omission of the aluminum ground plane on the Fuwit antenna on the Aurora II.

Hopefully that means the Flame won’t have the wifi problems as the Aurora II. Would you get one over the Aurora II based on what we know right now? For me questions is whether the Chimei Innolux screen is any good compared to the Aurora II’s pixel stuff aside.

At the very top image on the Chimei barcode sticker. I’d wait for the reviews of the first batch. I like the Aurora II, despite its problems, but with an active ROM community, and people working to get its problems like bluetooth and 3g over OTG, battery use reporting bug, etc sorted I still reckon its a good tablet bang for buck.

Also, not sure if many people noticed, the photos on ainol-novo. I’m very weary of amlogic CPUs after the alditab experience, the am logic have their own funky version of adobe flash I heard its better Have a look at This post over at Slatedroid.

I don’t know the alditab, but the AmLogic M6 chip in the Aurora II seems to be doing ok, except it clocks at about 1. And I had no problem with getting flash When I view the item on the main page it says ready to ship in 2 days which means the supplier already has stock in hand.

I heard they will ship on Monday, but who knows I ordered through dinodirect, euro with free screen protector and free shipping. Shenzhen X Show Technology Limited url: I’ll spoil the surprise for you As anyone got a confirmation that it is in stock yet?

I ordered from dinodirect and no stock yet. I heard they would be released today So they should start shipping today, woohoo. There is no confirmation that the tablet has been released yet.

The latest update puts it at 29th or 30th Aug. It doesn’t mention which year though ; Hope they hurry up as ive got one on order but from pandawill. The guys at Aliexpress msg me and said they have in stock now and should be shipped not more than 48 hours.

Ainol Fire does not have gps inbuilt, and is dual core not quad core But it has a back facing camera, mini-sd and HDMI out. I’ve put an order with the same company on aliexpress as marantz Although I haven’t paid yet — so it’s not confirmed.

Have Ainol ever released a new tablet without any bugs?? The Fire is currently an unknown Will everything on it just work first go? Would that be a first for Ainol tablets? I guess no one can answer that one This is going to be for my wife Should I go for the Fire or the Aurora 2?

This first impressions post may give you some further info. It is a little rough, like all their tablets, but hardware is good. Looks like they took some of the stuff out of double stuff to clean up some of their problems though.

Waiting for consignment number so I can ask for pickup, then I should have it by Monday if all goes well.. Google will work on them, might take some manual work at first, no big deal until firmwares start being released.

Don’t stress man, these no names are both inexpensive and powerful enough to chop up p video without breaking a sweat Ainol have only released the Chinese version and is in very limited supply.

I have a pre-order in so hopefully will see it in the near future: Isnt it just the case for most resellers just to reconfig the tablet to english from chinese before despatching?

My flame is on track and has just departed from Hong Kong, if it gets customs clearance and transferred to the depot at Tullamarine by tomorrow morning, I’ll have it in my hot little hands I may only use it as a ebook reader and a bit of browsing.

I already have iPad3 but it is a bit too big to carry out to read. You have an iPad3 man, your eyes are now conformed to the Retina display, anything less will be average..

Originally I am thinking to buy Galaxy 7. Did you get confirmation from Ainol-Novo when you ordered. As i only got confirmation from paypal as payment made.

Yes I got an order number at the same time as the PayPal receipt. Perhaps check your gmail or similar spam folder, it might have been held back. I’ve received my courier consignment number also, just hasn’t arrived in Australia according to the tracking, looks like I won’t have it until Monday.

Mine is still not shipped out yet. Wonder if they really do have it in stock Btw it’s not the Ainol Flame or Burning, it’s called the Ainol Fire, or burning backside if you like.

Now it’s time to charge and play some more, updates later today. I can confirm that Google play works out of the box for the Ainol Fire, have tested and started installing my android apps with no problems.

I’ve used iPad’s and as much as I like the resolution on the iPad3, I’m not going to fork out my hard earned for one that limits my pad using experience, thanks anyway Apple 8. The first impression on the build quality, is that it’s a very well made and possibly the best tablet I’ve seen come out of China.

The metal backing looks sweet, the silver case border from the front looks ok. I really like the weight very light and it’s size is really just right, not too small to hold, not too big, just right for my hands.

I would never buy another tablet with less than this res again, for a similar sized screen anyway. The viewing angles are excellent and the max brightness is also very good. It like many other tablets, performs just average in sunlight, it’s ok but not a game changer, so I won’t hold it against the FIRE.

The screen quality gets a [9. Haven’t played with Power saving mode yet, so I’ll see how that goes later. The swipe to change screens is smooth and easier than any other tablet I own.

Great performance here with the standard base installed ROM, I give it a [9. The sound from the Mono speaker is good, nothing special, so I won’t go into too much detail here.

Haven’t run the battery down just yet, so will keep using and report if any issues, however the mah is great for this tablet IMO. Having HDMI out is a game changer for the low cost, love it! Thanks for the great review.

Just put down my order for one of these from your review. Been pondering on getting an Ainol since the original Aurora days but have been ever so hesitant to take the plunge all the way through the line up until the Fire was released.

For those who are interested in getting one too. Not sure how long it is going to take to deliver though. This little beast is another nail in the overpriced tablet war and China finally comes up trumps to lay down a serious challenge to the high priced retail selling strategy.

Bluetooth File Transfers between tablets working fine, Tactile screen response is excellent — best I’ve used. Tap accuracy also best I’ve used. No lag on typing which is a must.

Battery holding up very well considering I’m using the highest brightness, I’ll do some more averages on battery usage later. How does it handle browsing websites. I’ve always been against these hi-res screens because if you browse the web everything is so tiny.

I have a 24″ screen x and i have to zoom most websites. In Tablets I find the Aurora 2 resolution pretty good — apart from the fact that most websites don’t handle small screens but those that do rock!

Thanks for the mini review. Had a chance to check out the image quality of the cameras in video and still modes yet? I’m so damn frustrated, is anyone else able to assist in downloading this new rom and uploading it somewhere that works????

Tried jDownloader and it will resume a few times, then comes up as File Not Found. Looks the same as this? There’s a mirror in the 2nd post but there were no download servers available when I tried.

It’s an experience surrounded by much swearing and kicking stuff. I’ve just been successful from the main site and about to install, will post updates soon. The cameras take a very good picture when you’re in a well lit environment.

Low light is pretty average, which I think is the same for most cameras like this. The flash is pretty ineffective unless you’re up close in darkness. Also the lens takes a second to focus and then takes a shot, I’m not a big fan of using cameras on a pad and I don’t think I’ll be using these much.

Maybe for a bit of skype and I’m sure they will be ok. Web browsing is brilliant mate, I’ve been using Chrome lately and this tablet handles itself better than all others I’ve used. Every link detects and works without a problem, I’m using Normal font size in display and every word is easily read with a forced zoom out.

You will be impressed. From photos I have seen, it looks like micro but all descriptions on web sites say mini. I have ordered from dinodirect and they dont have stock yet and keep telling me they will be getting it soon, but nothing concrete.

I just realized that mine was sent on the 23rd and I picked it up on the 25th, I’ll be definitely doing the DHL pickup again if I can get a 2 day turnaround, amazing!!

I can stand by Ainol-Novo, although they sort of made it look like stock was avail when I ordered it at the start of August. Then advised it would be 7th Aug and then around the 15th, until it shipped last week.

However I believe the delays are with Ainol, not the distributors. Hope you all get yours soon, the new firmware seems pretty solid and thankfully did away with the crappy chinese addon apps.

I’m thinking about switching to another seller Goldway that has “in stock” in their actual title of the listing ;. They also told me they can ship it within 24 hours if I pay within 3 hours — plus the 3 days or so they calculate DHL shipping to take I’ve decided to go for the Fire now over the Aurora2 — I don’t think the difference in screen res will make text too much smaller anyway — if it does, there’s always large fonts I guess ;.

I ordered knowing it was pre-sale from Ainol-Novo on the 6th Aug. The only order confirmation i got was from paypal. I have twice used their contact us link but didn’t get a reply.

I then used their ask a question on the Flame product page and got reply the next day 23rd Aug asking me for my order. I sent them all the details but have not heard back from them since.

I have since sent another email and used the ask a question on the Flame page. Yep, try this mate, send an email that you wish to cancel your order and refund made to paypal immediately, that will get you an order number quickly.

I pretty much guarantee it, they are a big company and wouldn’t want anyone pulling out. Try it and let me know. Get a Nexus if you want a Google Tablet, backed by a local 1 year warranty. Have to get yourself a Quad Core processor.

Need scratch resistant corning glass screen. You have to use Jelly Bean. Get a Fire if you want an amazing value 7″ tablet with a tricky warranty that could end up expensive if a return was needed.

Want to save your hard earned coin as the Dual Core amlogic is quick enough. It’s a no brainer in my eyes mate, though the GPS would be a nice addition, it’s not a deal breaker. As for the Quad Core Tegra3, it’s a great processor, but not needed for web surfing and general app usage There has been no indication that the screen is scratch proof, so I would hazard a guess they just used a standard glass and this helped keep the costs down.

Probably use my phone for that I am waiting for my pre-order “flame” to ship, hopefully its very soon: From what I can tell its a very nice tab can’t wait! Where is your pre-order from? I have an aurora II which is fantastic, but I like the idea of the higher res display!

Are all the ones people receiving is the chinese or the english version? Just got a msg from aliexpress that mine will be shipping out today. Fingers crossed again and hope for the best.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7. Its the best build for a tablet from China, there is a small amount of flex if you try. Its not bad, not an iPad, however you will be proud enough to show your mates this tablet.

Screen quality exceeded my expectation and is far beyond what I thought would come out of China, especially for the coin. Viewing angles are excellent. The res and IPS make this thing a winner, be prepared to be sold on this tablet from the screen alone.

My wife’s kindle just gave up the ghost, and I am looking at getting her and myself! How is the glare in sunlight? This is for the Aurora II but should be the same experience http: Just an update for anyone looking for a good seller — well I don’t have it just yet so jury is still out, but I switched my order over to Goldway on aliexpress as they had “in stock” in their description and their feedback score seemed pretty good.

They also assured me that they’d send it the next day if I paid within 3 hours of making the order. You will definitely receive as long as they don’t pass the delivery to an on-forwarder, then you might have to wait until Monday.

The only guarantee that you will have it this week is to call and put a hold at Tullamarine, then you can collect Weekdays or Saturday between I ordered from AliExpress on Sunday and just got an email saying it’s been shipped.

DHL still shows it’s at HK though. This is despite yesterday the seller said it’s not in stock till next shipment at end of the week. Guess he got his shipment early. It seems to sit at HK for a while, however it moves pretty quick once it gets through there.

All the best for a delivery this week. Mine was shipped on the 27th but still no details when searching on DHL. Would be stoked if it arrives on Friday. That’s for Aliexpress, not sure about the other sites.

I wonder if I’ll be able to hand it over? Yeah I went for DHL rather than free shipping because we need to have this before we go overseas in a few weeks Seems very responsive so far So I think I want one of these as it looks pretty good for the price.

I’ve never ordered anything off aliexpress before though, do I just pick a seller who has a high rating and good price? Eg they say they have it in stock and they have a high rating, should be safe?

Excited to have finally ordered my first tablet: Shenzhen X Show Technology Limited. That was one of the first things I tried But it was a simple solution, I just went into Play store and sure enough there was an update for Skype which after installing the video worked fine.

I’ll try again later once the ADSL is back up and see if I can get a screen shot not sure that’ll work, but I’ll give it a try. I’ve never seen Skype with crystal clear video, so I’d have to say it’s as good as I’ve seen — but again, I haven’t seen awesome video via skype.

Well I guess my expectation would be in comparison with Skype on iphone 4. I purchased a case separately as during purchase there were no options to add a case. The guys who I bought it from message me that they shipped it with a case for free.

Possibly as I keep bugging them when it was gonna be delivered and to make up for the delay in delivery. I didn’t get a case or screen protector with “mine” — it’s for my wife and she hates those leather cases her mum has one on her ipad and she can’t stand using it Personally I do like those cases I guess it means they can sell the same case for all tabs since the straps are more forgiving for the slightly different size 7in tablets.

But I’d rather wait until there’s a proper one for the Fire that it slides into with holes in the right places for the connectors etc I hear the Aurora cases don’t fit the Fire as the Fire’s slightly bigger or thicker.

For now and since my wife prefers it anyway ; , I’ve just ordered one of those wetsuit-type neoprene? I bought a combo pack of accessories off ebay for her Fire I’d like to say yes it’s the same I’m guessing it wasn’t any different, otherwise I would have remembered — I would think??

I’ll see if I can go and have a play with her ipad today or tomorrow. I’ll take the Fire with me to compare and let you know Someone who owns one of these Would love to see what the main camera quality is like.

Would like to see some photos with flash too. Also the aurora 2 didn’t even have a camera on the back of it, so cases for the aurora won’t have a camera hole at all I imagine.

Just got mine delivered today! Took a photo from the balcony. Qiality is soft in the bottom left corner. Then again it was pretty windy and the tablet was shaking abit when capturing. COM is selling these tablets.

I’ve had my order in since with this company and while that is a realtive short amount of time, their emails never mentioned once that they were waiting for stock.

Firstly, my order went over 2kgs, so they asked me to upgrade to DHL shipping They said and I quote:. As the Ainol’s factory informed us still printing the English Version of the packing, the expected date is the weekend of this week.

Will update the tracking number once we ship it out. Now this wouldn’t normally bother me, but I’m seeing some people on here place an order on a Sunday and reciving their goods on Friday! Sure, it’s a different company but damn So, I’d be aware of this company.

They don’t sound to be on the ball with customer service. I think I’ll put a dispute in with PayPal and order through one of the others. Played a few video files using moboplayer. Avi and mp4 files are smooth, only sd files so far I dont have hd files.

When using qqplayer the subs in the mkv come out fine though. The same as dinodirect. I ordered on 16 August, and never received an update on when they would be in stock. So I continually contacted them about their stock levels, and they kept putting me off Finally cancelled with them which took about 30mins as certainly didn’t want to cancel.

Be aware of this one too. The supplier is processing your order. But I notice the order details page has “This order will be automatically cancelled if the supplier does not ship your order within: My has been sent out, and have got my DHL tracking number, though it doesn’t work on the DHL site yet, they said it may take a couple days before it shows up.

Thank you for shopping on AliExpress! Unfortunately, your payment could not be verified and Order xxxx9 has been closed for security reasons. If you need further clarification or assistance, you may sign in to your order page and submit a claim for this order.

They then ask for copy of ID, credit card, and credit card statement. I paid via Visa credit card and went through the “Verified by Visa” process successfully. Did anyone send all this to aliexpress previously and end up with a successful or failed purchase?

I ended up cancelling with dinodirect and used this Aliexpress seller ‘QH-Store’. They have been great, possibly a smidgen more expensive then others, but standard Ainol Fire comes with screen protector, OTG cable, stylus and she Susan threw in a HDMI cable for free.

Plus I ordered today and she advised it is in the mail as of this afternoon Netherlands time, where I am based. In case anyone is looking for a good online vendor. Buying the Fire was a different story.

I got a note saying my card had to be authorised and it would take approx 8 hrs. Waited and it said my order was frozen. The payment would not go through until I organised Visa Verified.

Link for AliExpress shop I used. How did you pay? I chose Visa from a number of options most of which I can’t remember, paypal not included. They don’t seem to offer paypal which would in such a case not require copies OK, paypal do a small refundable charge with a code initially upon account creation instead.

I’m not saying I like paypal in fact I don’t, but that’s another story My purchase and several others went through fine without sending all these details through.

How did you or any others pay aliexpress — e. MasterCard for over 10 purchases and never got a msg like yours. AliExpress itself seems pretty legit but its still a concern with those types of requests re: There’s quite a useful thread about this device over on xda — I might try instead to buy from one of the stores recommended there for a few dollars more.

I found this quite interesting:. Make sure that if you go for a different Ainol model that the seller is only selling A-grade units. The new Aurora II batches have dead pixels. Pretty cheap for a screen protector and it’s customised not to block the front facing camera.

The chargers look pretty neat but I already have a Belkin Power Pack. How do I now if the Fire sent to me is A grade? Can’t see any dead pixels on mine. You do know that ainol-novo.

Can anyone recommend a vendor with good price and quick shipping on aliexpress likely to have the revised version? Been using it solid for a week now and it blows away all others I’ve used, fast for everything I’m doing, just makes life easy and tough to go back to using my 10″ tablets!!!

I’d say this is to justify their higher margins. I have picked up mine from DHL depot yesterday — package came on Friday but I was not home to receive it. Ordered from Goldway on Aliexpress on Tuesday, so only took 3 days to arrive.

Pretty happy with that! As with everyone who got their Fire, very impressed with the screen and the build quality. First thing I did was to install the Feiyu firmware as suggested by someone in this thread to get full access to Google Play.

Lack of GPS is the only downside, but I have tried tethering wirelessly using my iPhone — the tablet actually picked up my location very accurately. Wonder if I got a dud charger??

I must have missed this post. I didn’t update the firmware and Google Play works for me. I did notice some of the previous apps installed on my mobile now does not come up in the play store for the Fire when doing a search.

When I go into all apps it shows the apps previously installed were not compatible. Your device is not compatible with this version. It’s a mix of paid and free apps so far.

Some the apps affected are: Would the firmware fix this issue or anyone else have the same problem? This firmware has proven to be solid over the past days, can’t fault anything about it or the Fire.

Any recommended ones on aliexpress Elijah seems ok checking the ratings?. Though I sent them an email on Friday asking when they think they will send it, and they never responded, not that it really matters since it was sent 2 days after ordering.

Any recommended ones on aliexpress Elijah seems ok checking the ratings? Wanted to clarify what I was getting. Found out using the chat service. Post by yellow “They have been great, possibly a smidgen more expensive then others, but standard Ainol Fire comes with screen protector, OTG cable, stylus and she Susan threw in a HDMI cable for free.

It will be in the depot tomorrow ready for collection if possible and hopefully delivered Tuesday, unless you’re on the metro fringe, then Wednesday. Hi all, I was thinking about getting this tablet from a site called ‘GadgetGreats’.

Has anyone bought anything from them before? What’s the service like? Also, is there an English version of this tablet coming out? What can’t this tablet do e. I used the online chat and they normally reply within 30 mins or less when online.

It shows when the rep is online as well so makes it easier. Someone posted the Chinese version is called Fire and English version called Flame. Mine is the Chinese version but they set the language to English for you.

Check my earlier post about the apps that are not compatible so far from the play store. It seems Ainol custom 4. Been too busy installing apps and testing it out.

Virtual Tennis works smooth on mine but is a massive download: I had been eyeing off the aurora II, but then this thread started and the posts in the last week have pushed me over the line on the fire.

Thanks for the feedback. Ill place an order with them today i guess. Question — how did you manage to order if any accessories with it?. Doesn’t seem to be any way to select optional extras nor info on how to do it via that seller?

How ever, I’m still hesitant in getting it from AliExpress, simply because they don’t offer PayPal service. Has anyone here got one from a website that offers PayPal service, such as Buyincoins, DinoDirect, or any others, and what is the experience like?

Be interesting to see how long it takes to arrive, the tracking number has finally showed up on the China Post website this morning with a status of “posting”. Not sure if that coupon promotion is still running now though.

Just checked and the coupon says it expires 31 Aug but tried adding one to cart and applying coupon and it is still active. Their free shipping usually means around 2 weeks 10days or so at least based on past experience.

Question — how did you manage to order if any accessories with it? Currently the link has options to add extras like: No i saw that. I was talking about the optional extra’s like stylus, screen protectors etc — there is no option to add them into the same order?

You may have made a mistake. These are really low quality class 4 sdcards or aleast the ones I ordered from the anovol. They have a 2. Does it take long to ship? Amazing and never seen so fast.

If I had of let it be handed to an on-forwarder due to my outer Melbourne fringe location, I would have received it either Tues or Wed. Pretty much took 2 days once they mark as sent.

Sorry, should’ve made it clear I did not buy the sd card from them. I bought my sd card off an ozbargain deal. Pushed some games to the sd card and its fast. It’s for the Elf but it fits perfectly.

Comes with a screen protector. Only bad thing is the front camera cover slot does not align with the Fire and there is no back camera slot. Nothing the old hole puncher can’t fix ;. I don’t see how that is really an excuse at all.

So I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt, they have 1 week to ship me my bum-burner or I’m going to can it, request a refund through PayPal and order from one of the suppliers on here that seem to have stock.

I ordered the Fire last Thursday and it is on its way now to my house!! Cant wait to play with it tonight. Other than that, it’s been good so far. Very impressed with the screen resolution.

Video and ebooks look great. Still feel a bit laggy on some operations. Thinking of trying the ROM to get rid of all the pre-install Chinese stuffs. This is my first tablet so I am not quite familiar with all the ROM install process.

Ah well, at least now it’s no long a dilemma. Just hope the service and delivery is good from this website, so I can enjoy this unit soon. Mate don’t stress, I’ve said it before and will continue banging the drum, it’s a ripper tablet for the coin.

The 2x W17’s now go to the kids and the ELF to a friend. I’m about to score an iPad3 for work purposes and that’s the only way I’d ever have one, as I refuse to lay down the big dollars for one.

Not sure mate, I didn’t keep the original firmware long enough to find out, I upgraded straight away and not had any probs with Wifi. I ordered a fire and when i open the box, it is a frikin aurora 2.

I even bought from one of the recommended retailers by users here in aliexpress. The initial firmware for the fire limits the video to x and looks to be only 15fps.

But firmware updates might improve all this. However, apparently the hardware is capable of p at 30fps and p at 60fps, In other forums I read somewhere that there might have been some people looking into it, so there might be a community firmware update released in the future to enable that ;.

Wow, that would be a really heart sinking moment No it came with Aurora 2 package too What should i do? Should i launch dispute in Aliexpress or chat with seller first?

Bought from here http: Mate I’d send them a message and ask them to pay shipping for return costs and to send out a Fire. I got mine from them with no problems. Still with the original rom and have no issues with my wifi.

Only thing I’ve noticed is when I dont use it for an hour or so and unlock it, it says no internet connection. Give it a few secs and it picks up my saved wifi. Right now, they gave me 2 choice either they pay me back the difference or send them back aurora 2 and they send me back a fire.

This is actually my first ever ainol tablet, so how good is the aurora 2, worth keeping it? I heard there are wifi problems with it, how do i know they fixed it. Lol, they said can pay the difference of 20 dolars if i choose to keep aurora 2.

They must take me as a fool as the price on their shop has a difference of 34 dolars. Now i am considering keeping aurora 2 as it is a pretty good tablet judging from the other thread. Attn people who have this tablet — i noticed that mine Ainol Fire 7 — firmware out of the box stayed awake all night and drained.

DON’T update any firmware if you haven’t updated firmware since you received the tablet. Ainol, touch panel supplier and AML just confirmed that there is a bug in previous firmware touch drivers, which may cause touch failure.

We have received four reports from forum members. The bug couldn’t be fixed by firmware updating and recovery card. Mine had a peel off plastic protection. You have to look closely to see it.

Removing will improve pic quality. Could only peel off using fingernails. The IPS screen is worth the wait alone, seriously man, you won’t be disappointed in waiting a little longer!

Can anyone help me justify spending extra for the Nexus 7? Is there anything that the Nexus has that this tablet does not? Finally, anyone who can read chinese what is the difference between these: The first couple of price are like ‘buy it now’, and the other apparently lower price tags are the current auction price if that makes sense.

Finally got to my tablet, I got what I ordered, a Fire. First impressions, build quality is good, OS seems nice and smooth. I have a case, HDMI cable and car charger on the way too. So mine is going okay, been playing with it a bit during the day.

Though, I just turned it on, wifi wouldn’t work, it was on, but said the access point was out of range it isn’t. Had to turn wifi off and back on to fix. So seems there’s still still some wifi issues.

This is running build qm out of the box build. Might need to look at changing roms soon Worth it in my book. Peace of mind when it comes to problems too — if anything happens: I’ll ask him for it tomorrow.

Dunno if anyone will honor that — it’s pretty damn low! I then cleaned it to make sure there wasn’t any sticky residue or something on there Received my Fire yesterday.

Well, it’s for my young daughter, but I get to play with it a bit before locking down the apps with passwords. Got it from Elijah, they weren’t too flash in the communications dept, but once they shipped it took 3 day to reach me in Melb.

It’s the domestic Chinese version, but at least they shipped it with English set and an Australian plug. First, the microSD wouldn’t stay in the slot, had to hold it in with my finger.

Then after flashing, it’s all Chinese and worse, no Android Keyboard app! Well, got it back to English, then manually got the GO kbd installed, and finally on my way. It’s a beautiful little unit, now just pushing a few movies through it.

I ordered through dinodirect,. Anyone received theirs from Dino yet? No mention of it being in stock or shipping. Sorry to hear that, I think Marantz was first to get his, so I ordered one from them too.

Great now I am worried. I ordered off them too, paid yesterday and its already been dispatched with DHL tracking. Will update when I recieve it. Guys — my fire arrived today! I’m actually writing this up with it right now.

Ordered from Goldway on aliexpress on Sunday night via dhl and it was delivered to me before lunch today. The communication with the seller was very easy and I was very impressed to get it so quickly.

Anyway, as my first android tablet I’ve got plenty to learn. I’ll post back once I’ve got a few more hours experience but first impressions — very nice! I’ve gone to turn it on this morning and, while I can see the screen illuminate, it just stays black no loading screens, etc.

I can feel it give little vibrations when I touch the touchscreen, so it’s like it has booted up, but just with a blackscreen. Hold down the power for 10 seconds or so, then release and hold down again.

Did anyone come across the issue where if you leave an app running and press the power button to go into standby it still drains the battery? I was playing Virtua Tennis and put it on standby.

An hour or so later it was dead.

Sometimes one version of an app won’t work but you can find an older version that does work or a similar app that does the same thing. It takes some work to get setup. On the plus side, the Android 4.

It makes for an okay ereader—it’s fairly compact and portable—but the screen quality isn’t that great for reading. Despite its shortcomings, I kind of like the Paladin and I’m not entirely sure why.

Maybe it’s because the cheap price managed to lower my expectations enough not to dislike it too much. It has a 3. It even has one of those things that makes it vibrate slightly when using the keyboard and making selections.

It’s the first time I’ve seen this feature on a tablet. There’s an option to turn it off in settings but it still does it sometimes regardless. The Paladin has Wi-Fi and also supports some kind of external 3G modems, but I couldn’t find any information about them.

Might be a region-specific thing. The Paladin’s screen is pretty much what you’d expect from a budget tablet. The viewing angles aren’t very good. It’s okay in landscape mode but in portrait mode just slightly tilting it one way or the other makes the lighting look odd.

And one edge of the screen is slightly brighter than the rest. The screen measures 7″ inches diagonally with a resolution of x It has a two-point capacitive touchscreen that works fairly well but it doesn’t always respond to the first press.

Battery life is always hard to estimate since there are so many factors involved. Playing games, web browsing, the average seems to be around hours. Not great, but typical for a tablet that size.

Sleep mode drains surprisingly little battery power so that’s a definite plus. The vast majority of tablets use ARM processors, and Android apps are designed to work with them. So that means a lot of apps aren’t going to work on the Paladin.

After installing Magic Code, you simply open the app and turn it on to activate it. It definitely helps make more apps install and run, but it’s not a going to work for everything.

Some apps may install but they won’t work right. The Novo 7 Paladin comes with Android 4. For the first two weeks it was running that and then as I started to write this review I discovered the Ainovo website has a download for Android 4.

So I downloaded and installed it and the Paladin is running even smoother now, but the update removed the Android Market app and Gmail, along with all the apps I had added, and wiped cache and data, so all apps and everything reset back to square one.

Then I pretty much had to start all over again with this review since it changed everything. Here’s the link to my review of the. It comes with the Google Play store for access to Google’s Android apps and includes other feature enhancements and tweaks as well.

As mentioned above, the biggest problem with the Novo 7 Paladin is that a good share of Android apps won’t work on it, even with the Magic Code app installed. The Paladin comes with the Android Market on the original 4.

Luckily the works, and so do some of the other. But it’s hit or miss if the apps will install and work properly. A few that I tried installed okay but won’t run properly.

The newest version of the Kindle app won’t open, but the older version works fine. The Novo 7 Paladin comes with a few decent games. Spider Man Total Mayhem is one. The touchscreen makes it a little more difficult than it should be but it’s still fun.

TurboFly 3D is an entertaining racing game. The Novo Paladin comes with a couple of test videos and I tried a few of my own MP4 test videos and they all ran smoothly. Flash is installed but Flash video in the browser does not work.

At least not with the stock Android browser. Flash is turned off by default, and you have to open settings to turn it on every time you want to use it. As for Netflix, the app installs all right but I don’t know if it works because I recently canceled my subscription.

It didn’t work with the 4. The only reason to get the Novo 7 Paladin is to save money. Other 7″ tablets like the, Nook Tablet, and even the Kobo Vox are better devices, but they also cost about twice as much.

As far as really cheap tablets go, the Paladin is an okay choice if you can get along with the app incompatibility issues. There are also other variations of the Novo 7 tablets. There’s also the Novo 7 Elf and Novo 7 Aurora, among others.

Will everything on it just work first go?

I’m not sure what’s different between us, but I can say that my Novo Crystal works just fine for gtalk. So it’s been 21 days since my order from gadgetgreats has shipped and nothing yet, heck the tracking number hasn’t updated the last three weeks and comes up with nothing.

No way it should take this long, it’s driving me mad. Mate I’m in the same boat. Shipped 20 days ago from lightake and my tracking still says ‘departure to AU’.

Will try and get my money back if it doesn’t arrive by the end of the week. How long was it from when they shipped it to when it arrived? Mine appears to be coming from Singapore rather than HK where they are located.

Has anyone having trouble with YouTube? App opens up fine but can’t play vids. I have the latest flash version. I ordered mine from Lightake on 22 November, it wasn’t shipped until 14 December, and it arrived today 2nd Jan.

That was from Singapore, via registered airmail. My tracking number never worked at any point in time that was checking it daily via 17track. The tablets were meant to be from Santa to my kids — so we had to execute plan B.

If it didn’t arrive today I planned to raise a dispute with paypal, as the 45 day dispute window closes this Sunday 6th for my order. Thank goodness I didn’t have to go there! My big learning from this is ‘pay a bit extra and get better shipping with a tracking number that will work’.

If it hadn’t have been for this forum and seeing that other people were in the same boat I would have been thinking i’d been ripped off and alot more stressed about the whole situation Hang in there Miami — hopefully they’ll arrive tomorrow!

I’ve never had any success with aus post and generic tracking sites like 17track. For instance, I’ve got a parcel in transit within Australia now sent from Amazon using i-parcel.

Item trackable thru i-parcel, but invalid or unknown on Aus Post and that generic tracking site you mentioned. I bought another item from Taiwan using ems. Item tracked on one ems tracking site but several other ems tracking sites never had it.

You need to find out from seller when buying which tracking site it should belong to. I followed the instructions, i can now install chrome previously could not but i cannot install dominos pizza app — could you please try for me?

My worst fear has been confirmed: GadgetGreats never shipped my order in the first place. After waiting almost a month since the phantom shipment of my tablet, and a tracking number which clearly never worked from the start, I opened a Paypal dispute one day short of the dispute deadline.

After explaining everything via dispute, GadgetGreats somehow finally responded to my contact despite practically ignoring my every other e-mail prior and now said they’ve shipped the tablet today since they had only received a batch just now.

I had ordered back in November, was told to wait a while for stock, and then told in December my item was shipped. JoffaR got his one shipped the same day but his arrived, mine clearly wasn’t shipped.

I’m waiting two weeks flat, not a second more and going straight for a claim if it doesn’t arrive by then,. Yes make make sure you stay within whatever is required to keep you protected by Paypal regardless of any promises from GG.

As for mine, I never received a hardcopy receipt so I hope that wont impact on warranty should I need it. I tried to stream using splashtop streamer to my desktop and it’s horrible. Are you sure it’s a Crystal?

Crystals have excellent screens, although expecting to see much in direct sunlight is a big ask for any tablet. Sadly there’s not much that can be done aside from bumping up the signal from your router antenna upgrade etc.

I have had both 2nd batch and 3rd batch Crystals and neither has had those screen issues you can tell which batch they are from using the serial number The ones being referred to in that thread seem to be 2nd batch, not 3rd.

I suppose Ainol could have used inferior screens, but it’s definitely not the norm for currently available Crystals, at least based on the stock I have on hand.

I will recheck serial numbers and screen quality on the crystals I have in stock tonight to confirm what I’ve said is accurate. Bit of an update I like the tablet, it’s quite fast and works ok, but the USB port is pretty crap.

On mine the right hand edge of screen is far less sensitive to touch than the rest of it, which is an annoyance in many apps, namely forum browsing. Also seems that power from the usb port for peripherals is weak.

I can only use a usb flash drive when the tablet is fully charged. Well, after a really long wait and much confusion, I received my tablet yesterday. Interesting discussion regarding the screen, this is my first tablet and I can’t find much fault with the screen, but then I realised the brightness was already up and it can’t be increased any more.

Viewing angle from the bottom is weak as well, does this conflict with past versions of the Crystal? I too would like to know about those serial numbers jubal1. Its hard to tell if the screens different lol, My opinions very subjective since i dont have a side by side but its possible the colors when viewed at an angle are more washed out than the previous model.

Indoors under normal viewing it looks identical to how i remember the batch 2. Its still a decent display either way, when compared side by side with my ZTE V9 which is x TN, the viewing angle and brightness are far superior same as the last model.

Apart from that, speed wise its the same so previous games that worked apply still. In addition ive since tested out GTA: VC which plays fine, really does seem to handle pretty much anything thrown at it with what looks like smooth fps.

Im happy I made the right decision for me: I never did send that back to the factory for repair, and a good job too, I checked the slatedroid unbricking thread tonight and they now have a Batch 2 solution which I’m now downloading.

Once its recovered I’ll do a screen comparison between the Batch 2 and Batch 3’s that I have in stock and post up the results. Interested to hear the results.

The right hand side of my tablet creaked badly, and although it never impacted on performance, I just couldn’t stop being irritated by it. Followed the instructions of prying off the back of the case, and pressed it back in fairly firmly..

No noise at all, just a badass Ainol tablet! I’m loving it so far, Wifi’s not the best, and viewing angle from the bottom sucks in all honesty, but the battery life is perfect so far.

Haven’t tried any custom roms so far, but will look forward to that at some point. Also this is probably a silly question but, it there any way to connect a USB modem to the tablet?

It’s doing its job for her, but holy crap, that is the worst screen I’ve ever seen on a capacitive device, period. From what I read, the new new? The flickering and horrible res was much worse than I anticipated.

I actually felt guilty giving it to her, like she was a 4 year old. I sat my galaxy tab 7. While the Crystal’s screen quality has gone down somewhat, it’s usually not anywhere near as bad as you describe, its x, same as most devices in that price range and if your screen is flickering there’s probably something wrong with it.

Your willingness to dismiss an entire range of products on the basis of one tablet with what seems to be a screen problem is disappointing. I sell these devices, so I’m naturally biased, but I have to say that I have very, very few dissatisfied customers.

I am well aware that the 7. The fact that you sell a product that varies SO wildly in quality without any mention of the differences between batches is questionable. I don’t want to attack your business personally but your listing for the Crystal says it is a IPS display and that it’s “fantastic”.

I’m dismissing the range of products as there is never any guarantee you’re going to actually get the same as the last 2 people who purchased them. The entire batch appears to be crappy: Not that you needed it, but..

All good mate, I’d suggest you update your product listing if you’re going to be selling the batch at all because it’s simply shit. If I read IPS and received that, you’d be getting a refund request.

Dealsprime review of this tablet: Forgive me for being so immature, but how does one pronounce the product name “Ainol”? Believe me, recommending that someone purchase a black 10″ Ainol Hero can be a conversation stopper at BBQ’s and family gatherings: Has anyone noticed excessive power drain when the tablet is in sleep mode?

Wifi was turned off. Strange thing was that even though it was in sleep mode and the screen was off, the battery graph showed that the tablet was still awake. Mate just got this: Cheaper than anything mentioned here with free delivery I think of paying the extra to buy local as insurance — expensive insurance perhaps.

It all depends on how much risk you’re willing to take. That’s a phenomenal price, I don’t mind admitting that I paid quite a bit more for my stock last month. I’m keen at that price, but the reviews on that site aren’t favourable but its been live for 5 months.

I filed a Paypal dispute yesterday. Paypal, immediately escalated this to a claim. No response at all, either through their website contact form or the the paypal resolution process. Screen is horrible and difficult to read in recent models, actually bought my gf another tablet and use this one only for HDMI out now.

Very poor bit of kit, even for the low price.. Archive View Return to standard view. However the more i look at the specs it does not say integrated 3g or gps. I didn’t think it had built in GPS or 3G either.

Rumors are just rumors. Does anyone know if there is a cover that might fit? Can’t find one on their site: I got the below email from them today We will process your order once confirmed.

Alice Was cleared up, but apparently they won’t get stock til the 15th of October. The email I got from Alice said it ships out on the 15th of October I contacted CS again, and they confirmed it’ll be shipped out in 2 days Best regards, Nicole Subject: Just got an email saying mine was shipped from Lightake.

Mine has just been shipped too according to the email I received yesterday. From there if it’s been sent via DHL, it should only take a day or so to get to Australia. So turns out China post are on holidays until October 8th.

Has anyone received a Crystal from any other retailers? I think we’re all feeling that way. I’ll probably be complaining come Monday to DHL. Yeah now one of the longest holidays there. Same thing happened to me!

Well, ours arrived this morning and mine has the wifi issue that the Elf II is famous for. Constant loop of connecting, obtaining IP address, connected, connecting, etc That’s just the screen protector.

I’d assume they unboxed them and flashed the english rom onto it youtube etc. Quality express delivery from DHL. Good news is that Cyanogenmod 10 runs perfectly fine on it Wow, that’s great news! Please keep us posted.

CM10 on this tablet would be a godsend! I do a bit of reading on my iPad and it’s not as good Some said the screen doesn’t look like is an IPS. Yeah I had issues trying to “comment” on some posts It’s definitely not an IPS screen.

Well, if it is it’s not a very good one. They call it MVA display. You’d be surprised at what Chinese get away with in regards to advertising. Mine just arrived today to Adelaide, used the regular shipping.

Basically impossible to use with AC adapter plugged in. I just picked up one of these as well. I’m looking forward to an updated rom. If anyone has any questions or wants me to test something, just ask.

Whirlpool has pretty strict rules about spam so I can’t put up links in posts or the like. Checked your site, so you have stock Crystal locally and ready to depatch?

I buy a small number initially for testing and to gauge interest If you decide to buy one, I might even be persuaded to drop it off if you’re around If you have any questions or concerns feel free to ask.

Battery life test last night: See, this is why we can’t have nice things: Cool, I’m certain you’ll enjoy it, they’re great little tablets. Will post some unboxing pics soon.

Will get some photos up soon, and some benchmarks etc before i try some different roms. I would interested to hear back re play store compatibility etc. I just ordered from lightake.

My tablet came with no charger, just what i listed above. Thanks for the feedback on the crystal. I searched around and I found a better choice — Ployer Momo7 Google this quote Isn’t the Ainol ad clip p?

I would have ordered from there if I knew about this. I’m having to deal with ” days”. There’s a shortage of Crystals right now, probably a knock-on effect of the Fire shortage.

Two other vendors ones who said they had no stock were expecting deliveries today or tomorrow. Seems like your best bet is sticking with the stock firmware, just rooting if needed for now.

The sd card is Fat I can read it in the OS but not from recovery. Not sure why the other didn’t work. Ordered one from Lightake. Today my status is showing as “Collecting products now”. HDMI adaptor should be here tomorrow so will report back.

Will check back soon to see what happens. Just saw this after placing an enquiry. Best regards, Amy’ So hopefuly this are in the works If Ainol comes through and finally delivers stock you should be good to go.

Hi friend, Thanks for your mail. This is Tina from lightake. Normally, we will shipping the order within days after payment. We will try our best to shipping the package ASAP.

Pls no worries and wait a few days more. You’d never guess what, the stock for the Crystal hasn’t come in today, and will be arriving some time next Monday or Tuesday Thats the story i got from them today.

I’m losing hope of receiving it in my hands this year. Just rumors though but noone seems to have received any stock for quite a while According to the answers to questions on the bottom of the Aional-novo webpage, more stock is due Dec 10th: I sent another email to them yesterday I emailed them last night and they replied with “This is Amy from lightake.

Best regards, Amy” So i replied and said black is fine. Straight up get a email to say they will now ship soon

Can anyone recommend a vendor with good price and quick shipping on aliexpress likely to have the revised version? I’ll spoil the surprise for you Mine had a peel off plastic protection. I didn’t get a case or screen protector with “mine” — it’s for my wife and she hates those leather cases her mum has one on her ipad and she can’t stand using it I ordered from dinodirect and no stock yet.

Actually it’s the internal SD, sorry, I think I stopped referring to it as internal in later posts: Even though the CM10 rom has intermittent issues with wifi, it’s by far the best that’s on offer so far. Would you mind choose SKU for an exchange? About your order xxxxxxxxxx, the item of SKU:

Please do, I’m thinking of trying a new rom, I’d love to see ur video. I stupidly forgot to backup since my last update: The IPS screen is worth the wait alone, seriously man, you won’t be disappointed in waiting a little longer!
